  2. List looks okay though, but why isn't
    in top 10?
There's been a lot of comments of that sort showing up. Personally I'm disappointed by the lack of TMNT III, which in my mind is a stellar soundtrack the entire way through.

Despite the effort put in to reduce nostalgia bias and cover some of the more overlooked titles, you can see that there's still quite a few entries from the popular titles (the Mega Man and Castlevania series in particular.) I'm not surprised by this, and I can't deny how great the soundtracks are, but I would have liked to see more dark horse titles show up. For example, Shizzie Auriplane pointed out this great track from a really obscure game (Tantei Jinguuji Saburou 4? Has anyone here ever heard of that before?).

That said, I'm really happy to see that Silver Surfer track near the top of the list. Such an impressive track, for technical AND musical reasons. Can you believe that drum sound is composed entirely of the triangle wave and noise channel, and DOESN'T use samples?

Earlier this year, a friend (any shizzies here know him as streifig) and I made this cover of the theme from the movie Siberiade, originally composed by Edward Artemiev. We originally released it on the Concatenation Records compilation A Chip off the Shizz Block vol. 3, but I recently made a video for the song (mostly as an excuse to share the song around...).

I took care of the NES elements (it's actually recorded from the real hardware, which is a first for me) and the mixing/mastering, and streifig completely blew my mind with multiple layers of guitar, ranging from ambient drones to a double-tracked solo.

I consider this to be by far the best piece of music I've ever hand a hand in creating.

The music video is made up of public domain archival footage of fires, sort of as a homage to the scene in the original film where this song is used.

  4. Will most probably go by bus to Montreal then take the train all the way to Baltimore again this year (about 175$ all-around for the train Mtl-Balt).

$175? Really? I'm going to be in Ottawa in early January, and that's a hell of a lot cheaper than the flights I was looking at.

  5. My first submission, a HORRIBLE SPC rip with shitty drums that shouldn't have even made the panel, was judged in May 2003. I don't know how long before that I submitted it, nor do I remember what sort of altered mind state I was in that lead me to think it was a good idea to subject anyone to listening to that crap.

My first (so far only) OC ReMix was submitted in May 2009, judged in November and posted in December.

So, over 6.5 years. I think there were 7 or 8 submissions of various levels of terribleness and mediocrity in that period.
