There are a lot of questions one could ask about the Pokemon series that are best to just not think about.
For example, imagine that you are a giant snake made of solid rock that is intelligent enough to understand human speech without necessarily even having encountered a human before. Some kid comes along and has a bunch of critters beat the shit out of you so that you don't have the strength to escape when he shoves you into a tiny plastic ball.
Two minutes later, that same kid is yelling at you to use Rock Throw or some shit.
Obey his command, or crush the little bastard to death and go HOME?
Or how about the fact that everyone in the world can say (presumably with a straight face; it's hard to tell) that loving and caring for your monsters is vitally important in spite of the fact that 99% of them are obtained via the aforementioned "kicking the shit out of and imprisoning them" method?

On a related note, I'm sick of people who claim that all rappers are "destroying the english language in front of recording equipment". You listen to fucking video game music, people. Have an open mind. Sure, Soulja Boy is terrible, and is arguably destroying hip-hop, but to use him as an example of rap and hip hop culture is short-sighted and ignorant. Today, rap is less about ego, and more about pointing out issues with black lower-class culture in an almost sociological way. Listen to some Nas, some Scarface. Sorry to rant, but it peeves me when people say things like "that whole culture has an ego problem". It's just ignorant and untrue.

maybe we should just not make video games into movies seeing as though so much of the medium is based heavily upon player interaction that whatever makes video games special will be lost upon hitting the big screen
