  1. This came from playing around with the bassline rhythm a bit and then building on it, which gave it a different feel than the rock sound we're pretty used to. So I leaned into it, pulling reference from the SNES Ninja Turtles beat em up, and it just didn't sound the way I wanted, so I left it for a while. Then when I decided to use the theme from Char's Counterattack (a Mobile Suit Gundam movie) as a means to try figuring out Lo-fi sounds, I realized the feel that I was building with this wasn't meant for a really fast BPM. So I slowed it way down and replaced the drum beat with the lo-fi beat I had from the other. Let me know what you think. Original Build: LoFiBodyFunk ---- EDIT: Okay, so I revisited this one after learning a bit more of the software and plug ins (learned a lot trying to emulate Madeon's sound for the song Freckles from Rurouni Kenshin), and thought I'd use the Cybersynth pack on this song too. Layered a little in there for the atmosphere. This leans a lot more into the funk feel, but feels a LOT less Lo Fi.
  2. My remix https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_XdxrFYU2koMloBxSJ87NkWr5Y-McoLg/view?usp=drivesdk Original I believe this is ready for mod review. Thanks for ALL constructive criticism ahead of time!
  3. Another fall mood remix. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R1jnHHtY-0xL2IkNRDrHVSeZn4BjXKfb/view?usp=sharing Source: Rose and Ghost https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyVkTZ9QjC4
  4. Note: Updates to this track will be added to the bottom of this first post. Quick note to board mods: I will modify this post as needed to conform to board guidelines, please inform me if changes are needed. First attempt at a remix! I hope to eventually complete one and submit it to the site which I love so much. I had a bit of inspiration to do a rock n roll remix of Chrono Trigger's "Corridors of Time" after hearing this remix. I like the rock n roll sound at around the 25 second mark, and wanted to explore it further. So in a way, this is a remix of a remix. https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01836 Original track: See below for my remixes and revisions I am currently using MuseScore for score editing and sound, so it will sound a bit canned for now. I am hoping to use Cubase later with better samples and/or live instruments in future revisions. I would love to have feedback and/or suggestions on ways to make this better. If you are interested in collaboration, I am open to that as well. Thanks for your time! 5. Hiya Done a remix of "Sand Hell" from Thunder Force by Toshiharu Yamanishi, for Megadrivers custom Its in the style of an oldschool(detroit) House song from the 90's possibly. Anyway, Let me know what you think, what could be improved, etc. Thanks for listening! Remix: Original:
  6. Havent worked on anything for so long. My old studio pc died and picked up a new laptop recently. Possibly going to try the whole of the soundtrack from this game or pick the best pieces from the various games in the series. Thanks
  7. Hi everyone, Long time fan of the site (14 years+), first time poster. I wanted to have the dread with 'X the Legend' from the Megaman Zero games but kept hearing bits of 'Raise Thy Sword' from Soul Calibur II in my head as I would hum the melody to see what I might have been missing. This idea started with hearing Jay Reichard's version of X The Legend on VGMusic and realizing it could work as a great base to further studies for harmonies. (Long story short, was a vocalist studying opera, but had an injury that derailed that. So composition isn't my strongest point.) I worked in snippets of the melody from Martin Exton's arrangement of Raise Thy Sword (from VG Music as well). And ultimately tried working both of them together so it was more of a seamless transition between the two. Any and all feedback is appreciated. It's changed quite a bit since inception, but it's been a fun ride learning FL Studio. --Old-- Original Version (Version 1) --Old-- More Subtle Mood (Version 9a) Retrowave influence, but not really constrained to any specific genre when I was trying to shape this. Constantly edited for brevity, clarity, and having up to date links.
  8. Hi folks. It's been a very long time since I've posted on this website. I've been poking away at this track for a couple weeks. I was hoping to eventually submit it to the site, and I could use some feedback on how it's shaping up. The average production quality on OCR is even higher than it was 15 years ago! Here's a Google Drive link to the WIP: Chris McGee - Southern Swamp Remix and here's the original. Majora's Mask - Southern Swamp (Koji Kondo) Thanks!
  9. Heyooo Drew heavily from the Sega CD source and also Rich Douglas' re-record for this one: That vibe
  10. Original Lagrange Point (FC) - Theme of Isis (Opening Theme) Sorry for removing the original topic. I had to fix some things.
  11. So I'm sharing this again;) I've been fooling around with Cakewalk, FL Mobile, Caustic...and FL Studio Producer edition. I did all of the arranging for this tune in Caustic for Android. I tweaked the final sound (with my limited knowledge) with FL Studio 20. I have been fooling around with the different DAWS I just mentioned, and for some reason, so far, this is my favorite product. I don't get much time these days to fool with music. I like how this sounds, it reminds me of MOD files from back in the day. I wonder if this remix sounding this way would ever pass the panel...I believe chip tunes have made it through, I wonder if this style would ever pass, as an artistic choice. I would appreciate some constructive feedback! EpicFootStepsCaustic.wav
  12. I shortened it, arranged a few things, complete overhaul on sound design and mixing. I intend to make a few small changes. Here's what it sounds like now https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/958152 And if anyone is curious, here is the one from last year (the one that got rejected) https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/880226 Cocks
  13. UPDATED VERSION Hello again I just finished another DKC remix, this time putting a spin on the factory stage music. A welcome break from trying to perfect my Aquatic Ambience mix (mixing = argh!) The overall composition is fairly conservative though I did add a few personal touches here and there to keep it interesting. I experimented with sounds and FX and did my best balancing the mix. I actually think this turned out really well, which makes it a positive experience for once. Every time I come back for a listen I just feel satisfied and there is nothing that stands out to me as being "wrong". I hope you'll feel the same way Please listen to at least 30 seconds, even if you don't like it right away, so the play counter more accurately reflects views. Anyway, here it is: What do you think? Have any nice memories playing DKC and hearing the factory BGM for the first time?

  15. Hi, I'm new here. I recently decided to try remaking "Zip" from Bomberman Hero. This was done by ear, but I tried to stay mostly true to the original. I'm looking for constructive feedback. My remake: Original:
  16. So yeah, this is something that has gone through quite a few permutations, and this is my latest attempt:) This was completely done on my phone, mostly during breaks at work, as I have very little time to do anything musical at all at home...I have a toddler;) Most of this was done with Fruit Loops Mobile, with an excerpt from Caustic...the vocoder part. I did a quick and dirty master with the Caustic mastering app. I appreciate the feedback the judges have given through this process...and I have tried to apply their critiques. High pass filter set low frequency, so cool. I appreciate and wish for feedback, Thanks!:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CNSnJLjYjUOpeKlf0TUSajeFjPxAmrRd/view?usp=drivesdk
  17. Here is my remix for Rundas so far! I just need to add some guitar and some other things. This may change quite a bit. So far I have almost everything finished! The voice may not stay as it is. I may use a vocoder. Let me know what you Metroid Prime lovers think about it so far. August 3 Update Added guitars! August 4 Update Added Rundas' Voice! August 5 Update New Guitar parts
  18. Just looking for some feedback on my most recent remix. It's not perfectly mixed, I started on this this morning. Thank you in advanced!
  19. So I probably butchered it. But I sure as hell had fun experimenting, and I think it's better than my 2008 attempt. Probably could use beefing up on sample qualities, minor E/Q tweaks...and the entire first minute is sort of up in the air. Depends. Any feedbacks?
  20. Gruntilda's known for hosting gameshows so...I arranged the main lair theme in the style of the jeopardy theme. Half of me just did this as a joke and the other half wants to make this legit. What do you think? and YES I built that puppet.
  21. I had a choco-boat load of fun crafting this remix! Both of the original OSTs are extremely relaxed and lazy, which is why I wanted to up the tempo in this dance remix. I'm not looking for any mod feedback. Just wanted to share for anyone willing to listen. Thank you for listening! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_KrbZ09HzA Source OSTs: FF7 Farm Boy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wWLaSp-n6k FF6 Kids Run Through the City - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpZDSFitwQg
  22. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-oNix9r7icrR4UB15Pfcbm13SbUoyQVz/view?usp=sharing Goron City from Zelda OoT/TP. Collaborating with @ffmusic dj on production. In a sense, this is a tribute to the historical contributions of black musicians, and an exploration of the history of the banjo. It uses a fretless gourd banjo, a standard fretted banjo, and a bluesy acoustic guitar with a bronze slide. Still super-rough as far as production. Levels, EQ, FX, etc have not been addressed at all yet
  23. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KDBJMCXIEATSqdswefry6fCHrzA0TOQZ/view?usp=sharing Spekkio's Theme, done as an old time back porch fiddle/banjo tune. Heavily inspired by "Soldier's Joy," another classic fiddle tune (in fact I even snuck in the Soldier's Joy melody in a few parts). @XPRTNovice on acoustic guitar, @MagiNinjA on fiddle, and me on clawhammer banjo! 24. Hello guys, I started with a remix of the opening theme from an old n64 game called "Mischief Makers" (Very nice game btw). Well I think, that I made good progress until now and i tried to keep the heart from the original. So let me know what u think about it :).
