  1. ======== UPDATE (2022-08-13) =================================================================== Hello again! I submitted this remix, unfortunately, it didn't pass. However, the judges enjoyed the idea for the track. Their main critique was that most of the time it was hard to distinguish the source material, and also that there was a lot of competition and muddiness. So with that in mind, I revisited the track and did a lot of changes: Made the bassline in the intro a lot simpler. Added "fillers" with the source material’s lead at several sections of the song. At 1:40, changed the "tropical" lead to having mostly the same notes as the source lead (in the previous version it played at double speed and had a lot of variation) Removed a lot of backing instruments / percussion that only took up space and wasn't barely audible anyway. Overal, went through all leads and stuff and made them more similar to the original. Removed the extended outro and replaced it with the "lost life" tune, very short. Please let me know what you think about this new version, looking forward to hearing your feedback!! ======== UPDATE (2021-11-21) =================================================================== Hello! The remix is almost finished I think! I would appreciate to get some feedback before I submit it. Looking forward to hearing your feedback! Previous version: https://soundcloud.com/unresolved-external/super-mario-bros-2-underworld-remix-v5/s-r11GZRyF0Qw?si=8067fe5535f24fb2a9c27a1b513f06d1&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing ======== UPDATE (2021-05-07) =================================================================== It’s been a while. I’ve been working a lot on polishing the remix since the last version. I’ve addded sound effects from the original Super Mario Bros. 2, as well as some more Toad voice sound effects. I’ve added more impacts, uplifters, downlifters, etc. Made lots of automations. And also added som new instruments. I changed the transition at 0:46 so that the lead continues to play for a full bar before the break starts, also the same at 4:25 before the outro. I tried making the first break starting at 0:46 longer but I didn’t like the result so I kept it short. Next I will continue the mixing phase focusing more on EQ, compression, effects, etc. Looking forward to hearing your feedback! ======== ORIGINAL POST =================================================================== Hello, following my Heat Man remix I got inspired to try again to extend a short theme for several minutes. This time it’s a remix of the “Underworld” theme from Super Mario Bros. 2 which loop is only roughly 10 seconds! Some tiny parts of the song are also from the “Bonus Start”, “Success” and “Failure” theme. The composition is finished and most of the instrumentation is done as well. The percussion isn’t finished, there may be places where it is missing or where it feels off. Also, I’ve been working with some voice SFX in this track, they are far from finished and are scattered a little here and there. I haven’t done any balancing, EQ, compression, effects, etc. yet. Mainly I want to get some feedback on the composition, structure, and instrumentation at first. Please let me know what you think about it, looking forward to hearing your feedback!
  2. Hi Everyone, Been a while since I visited all of you. I got really busy in life got married and etc. What I want to know out of this track, is the general feeling of it and especially the guitar mastering. I already made a lot of electronic tracks. But included guitars, I never made a really good one. (Except some collab, but it wasn't me playing and EQing guitars). It's a DnB type of track heavily influenced by Pendulum, Tantrum desires and Infected Mushroom. I also want to keep this track as a surprise to OCremix community. What do you think of it? Any tip on guitar or EQ on overall mix? (Be careful it's loud. Even if the intro is soft.) (The song is a request from my wife)(She also already listened to it and I could see her head bobing on the rhythm) Remix: Submitted Source:

  4. Hey everyone, I'm excited to share my new orchestral pokemon cover with you. I originally wanted it to capture the winter-feel of the Sinnoh region. Let me know what you think. I'm especially thankful for thoughts on the mixing.
  5. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EZAkmJNGteO9CLOF74O6JhNShvK2QKf9/view?usp=drivesdk This is in the early early stages. Like maybe 5% or so done but I wanted to post it as proof of concept I guess on my direction before I really dig into it with all the other instruments and verses to come promise more updates in the future!
  6. I feel really confident about this piece. I know I've improved on the structure and pacing better than my first attempt at a Darius Twin remix (of the main boss theme). I went overboard, too crazy with the first one. Some of the beats were off-pace. I find it to be a cool listen from beginning to end, but it's also messy in places, and some of the transitions aren't very good. I'm going to have to redo the entire track one day. This time, I'm sure I got it right. I already filled in the remix submission form yesterday with the 192kps mp3 attached before making this thread. That's how good and accomplished I feel about my newest completed remix. Did I make a mistake here? It's my first time sharing any music I do on this forum. ^^; I normally share my music on both Soundcloud and Newgrounds. After listening to my track "Narukinians at War" enough times, I think I'll link to where you can hear it on NewGrounds. Yeah, the track sounds a bit better there. It's got the timer on the track at the bottom, similar to Soundcloud, so we're good on that. https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/988306 I say more about my remix in the description. I don't mind extra feedback. And, I don't remember hearing a remix of the Narukini theme done by anyone else. Would any of you know of anyone else who did, or attempted to? I'm just curious. If so, I'd like to hear the music! There's not many Darius Twin remixes in existence, as far as I know.
  7. Hello! I've been remixing game music for a long time but this is the first remix I've ever submitted to OC Remix. SaGa Frontier has one of my favorite game soundtracks, and "Booby Trap" is one of my favorite tracks in it. Just such a catchy and groovy song. The remix is already complete and submitted - I actually didn't know about this feedback forum until after I already submitted, heh. Regardless, I'd love to hear feedback about the track! Hope you like it!

  9. Hello! I'm a long time fan but I finally got the gumption to join the forums and submit something haha. I mostly dabble in more orchestral kind of music but I wanted to try something different with more hybrid sounds. I guess to me this track is mostly done but I feel like it is missing something or maybe isn't liberal or daring enough to really submit. Any feedback that you can provide would be great! Current Edit: Finally have reached a point of completion in which I feel ready for a review. Thank you so much everyone for your support as I've gone step by step through the uhh..process haha. Any help you or the mods can provide or just feedback would be so appreciated. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hZgXfRJiPTE2IllhEbNEOTqGkYNHIr5h/view?usp=sharing
  10. https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/975054 Estrayk wrote the original Her11.mod the proper oldschool way using Protracker on an Amiga. The song is one of his many in the Her series of chiptunes for Paradox, the cracking group. It was featured in this game, Lyle In Cube Sector, at one of the last areas accessible. The game is made by Bogosoft and plays like a metroidvania and has a really solid soundtrack of chiptunes. Can't recommend it enough if you enjoy retro-style games. The premise of the game centers around some cloaked weirdo who steals your cat so you're on a mission to get it back. That's pretty much it. Thus, the title of my track. The song itself is a pretty direct metal / chiptune fusion with a splash of synth and drama later on. If you have any questions about the song just ask and I'll try to answer as best I can. c:
  11. I did my take on Superman's stage 5 music. Developed by Hudson Soft, composed by Kenji Yamazaki. I’ve been using synths for years but this was my first attempt at recreating video game music. It was a lot of fun. DAW: Ableton Live Hardware: Virus TI Polar, Roland JP-8000 VST's: TAL-Chorus-LX, iZotope Ozone, Blue Cat (stereo field & freq analysis VSTs), FabFilter Pro-Q2, Pro-C2, Pro-L2 Original track:
  12. Kind of an extension of the original, abit rearranged, slight odd time signiture later on for fun. Mix of ambient and uhh, I dunno, hard funky electronic?
  13. EDIT (20-10-23): Updated the mix and master as it was very kick and bass heavy. Should be a more balanced sound now. Updated spooki sounds here A dark psytrance remix of "Jaffars Theme" and "Final Battle" from Prince of Persia for the SNES. A sampled reference from the original Apple II version of Jafar conjuring forth the hourglass is also present in the song though that's more of a soundeffect than any sort of musical score. Original composers for the SNES OST are Toshiya Yamanaka and Tetsuya Nakan. The small sampled bit was a melodic sting for the Apple II version written by Francis Mechner, as far as I can discern, alternatively Tom Rettig who did the sound. I worked myself into kind of a burnout mode with this one which made the song hard to really progress in any meaningful way and complete. I really wanted it done now for Halloween so I focused a lot on it these past weeks but also kind of got worn out since I'm also studying at a university now. However, this still marks quite a leap forward in my psytrance skills. I have much yet to learn about effectwork and really adding proper flourish to my tracks but this one still became quite rich and elaborate. Enjoy and happy halloween. c:
  14. https://youtu.be/6U0ZfFu6pxE Even though I never played Silent Hill 2 when it first came out, its evocative soundtrack by Akira Yamaoka stood alongside albums by such artists as Portishead, Massive Attack, and Aphex Twin in my rotation of brooding, atmospheric music I loved as a teenager. Years later, the now infamous P.T., a "playable teaser" for the cancelled Hideo Kojima reboot Silent Hills quickly became one of my favorite video games of all time (and definitely the scariest piece of media — movie, game, book, or otherwise — I've ever experienced). After finally getting my hands on a copy of Silent Hill 2 to play, I figured it would be fun to take a crack at remixing the ambient track "White Noiz" with a heavy, trip hop-/lofi-inspired beat while also adding in elements of the score and sound effects from P.T. This remix was composed, edited, mixed, and mastered using Studio One 4 and Reason 11, utilizing heavy use of the plugin "Shaperbox 2" developed by Cableguys. Hope you enjoy!
  15. I did a rendition of Tifa's Theme from Final Fantasy in a small, intimate orchestral setting featuring many performers for the Pixel Mixers FF7R tribute album. Tifa is a very interesting character to me. I wanted to try and capture Tifa's spirit as I saw her, as this strong, badass but also somewhat shy, deeply caring and slightly anxious woman and tried to express that in the music and the arrangement. Did I succeed? Well, that's up to you to decide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ewpTO-NtQU&lc
  16. This isn't the first remix from a game I've completed, however it is one I am more confident with: https://www.bandlab.com/vodouqueenxiii/groove-of-the-ancients-jazz-funk-dance-mix I decided I might as well throw myself into the deep-end (hope I'm doing it right), but yeah. Any advice, pointers, or criticisms (good or bad) would be great. Hoping to get something into submission at some point... I realize Cakewalk / BandLab is not on the usual list of DAWs to work with, by the way, but it's all I have to work with at the moment. I am extremely new to composing, arranging, mixing and mastering music on my own, (with nothing but me learning from YouTube vids, what bit of information I still have on music theory from years ago in band, and other tidbits on the internet). I'm practically a tadpole in a pond. Don't want anyone to go easy on me despite all this, please. Look forward to the comments. o/ Cheers!
  17. Hi, Here is a piano arrangement of "If you open your heart" from ff7. This is not a major theme of the game. But I find this music interesting to work on. About the inspiration, there are a lot of Asian harmonies. I was also influenced by some pieces of Debussy, an author that I like a lot. Any feedback is welcome!
  18. Hi y'all! I'd love to hear what you think of this submitted remix of my favourite map from Unreal Tournament. Made entirely with KORG Gadget on the Switch!
  19. Super Street Fighter 2 - T Hawk Theme Remix (UPDATED) Hi! Hoping to get some feedback on this remix ive done. I'm mostly done with it but i'm trying to polish it up. Some questions. Is it too busy, cluttered sounding? Is it too bass heavy? I tried a brighter variant with more mids and went back to this. The instrumentation ok? Also if you spot any faux pas in there that ive missed, let me know and i'll argue that it was intentional :P Thanks for the advice, ive made some small updates.less swing, levels on pads changed in places. added some definition to the lead sound (hopefully). layered a couple more instruments the comp section, ive made it a little better. sorry liontamer, i didnt change it that much i kinda like the simplicity of it. I'm hoping to get this to a point where i can submit it. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Remix:(updated version) Original:
  20. Hello, I got inspired to try to make a fairly long and varying remix of such a short theme as Heat Man’s is. I’ve been working on this for some months now and I feel it’s time to get some feedback on it. The composition, instrumentation, and balancing are done, and that is what I would like to get some feedback on first. I haven’t done any EQ, compression, or adding any effects like reverb and delay yet. Please let me know what you think about it, looking forward to hearing your feedback! NEW VERSION BELOW!
  21. Here is an orchestra arrangement of "Cleyra" and "One danger put behind us" from Final Fantasy IX Original music : Nobuo Uematsu Arranged by me : Flute : @Bowlerhat Violin : @Chris ~ Amaterasu I had several influences for this arrangement: Celtic, movie, march band… I came where I wanted, following my inspiration and my mood of the moment. Enjoy!
  22. Hi guys, another remix from me. This time I'm trying to mix surf-rock guitar from "Steam Gardens" in dnb-style. Original track: Feedbacks are welcome! Thanks and have a nice day!
  23. Hi guys, here's another remix of NES classic from me. In the beginning this track was performed by... 'The Beatles' (seriously), then it was released by Ultra\Konami as soundtrack for NES 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' videogame. And NOW I took this melody and made... Well, I think it's sounds like liquid funk remix, heh. It was my first experience in this music style. Track already submited and waiting in OCR inbox but feel free to leave feedback. FLAC download - https://cjblackace.bandcamp.com/track/night-walk Thanks and have a nice day!
