  1. Just a quickie. Very electronic. Curious to hear feedback! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rtPdX66CRxAmna3WlsGD9K1tMMlFVMGf/view?usp=sharing
  2. Hi everybody! Here's the newest arrangement - Orchestral version of Tifa's Theme from Final Fantasy VII I made a Piano arrangement of it, but thought it'd be great to make an Orchestral version of it too!!
  3. https://youtu.be/_DRPmlVpfck First thing, I really can't describe how emotional it was to do this theme. I was brought to tears several times (as I've mentioned in my teaser post for this). And since I started doing it, I haven't got the will to stop listen to it. This is one of the most beautiful pieces ever made, video game or not. Nobuo Uematsu is pure genius and out-of-this-world musical. If I had only 1/1000th of his musical mind I would be famous long ago lol. By now you've probably heard this was very much like the original, only with the differences of my synthesizers, and some arrangement differences. I did not have heart to put a beat and a fitting bass line to this, I wanted it to be as soft as possible. I hope you can appreciate what I've done with it and bear to listen through the whole remix. There is so much love and emotion for each second, and the emotions I went through is inexplicable. I'm a real soft guy haha, cries in every movie and game I experience. I used my latest alternate lead synth here, but had to set up the equalizer and soundwaves of it with multiple settings not to get it to sharp at high notes and to "bassy" at lower notes. Tricky, but worth the time.
  4. https://youtu.be/N3jCsGeEf_k Hello folks! I'm not sure why I started creating this remix, I just felt such an eager to focus some love on one of the best games ever made. And the intro is really something, I remebered the jaw dropping when I saw it the first time back in 1998. I had one good friend who owned a PS and I'm so happy I got the opportunity to be introduced to this masterpiece when it was somehow new. I have to confess, this is the most difficult remix so far. Not only because of the grand composition by master Nobuo Uematsu, but also because of the original style is aligned to the orchestra/symphonic genre which is far away from my ordinary synthwave/retrowave. I tried to mix both styles in this one piece. 0:00 - Opening One of the best introductions to any video game in my opinion. The atmosphere and visual impression are spot on to what kind of place Mako City is. I wanted to modernize and absorb the theme into my synth style, and I hope I succeeded with that without too much loss of the original. 1:17 - Bombing Mission This theme is so cool, and so fitting to the intensity of the mission before you. I couldn't stray too far off the original's boundaries without losing too much brilliance from it (I tried a couple of variations) so I kept it as it is, mostly. I added some chords here and there, and of course a drum beat. The lead synths used here are multiple variations from my signature lead, tweaked to sound a bit more like brass which the original composition is all about. I'm not sure why I keep transcribing everything by ear, it's really hard sometimes which showed clearly while writing this remix. All the things happening in this theme was hard to keep track of from time to time, and it took me forever to just finish the transcription xD I guess it's kind of more freedom to just transcribe any song you want, instead of searching for MIDI files or sheet music. But enough about that! Thanks for listening!
  5. Hey all, So a couple of months ago, the Pixel Mixers started their own Final Fantasy VII homage project. Thanks to COVID and life however, things fell far behind than expected. However, happy to say that we finally were able to release the project yesterday! This track is my contribution to that project. While I don't think the track would clear an OCR review based on how it's structured, I thought that you might all still find it enjoyable. So... ENJOY! You can find the full download to the project in the video description.
  6. Hi, Here is a piano arrangement of "If you open your heart" from ff7. This is not a major theme of the game. But I find this music interesting to work on. About the inspiration, there are a lot of Asian harmonies. I was also influenced by some pieces of Debussy, an author that I like a lot. Any feedback is welcome!
  7. HI! I did a cover for guitar of - Tifa's Theme - from Final Fantasy VII by the great composer Nobuo Uematsu. Check it out and share if you like!
  8. FF7 remix album One-Winged Angel (Youtube) Six tunes from Final Fantasy VII with my personal orchestral handling and vision. In my opinion the best tunes. Prelude, main theme, Aerith's theme, battle music, Judgement Day and of course One-Winged Angel. Hope you guys enjoy it!
  9. I started this some years ago, and now im thinking about reentering the remix-scene and get some feedback. I was trying some more "movie like" approach, like a tense scene that is building up to a battle.
  10. I always admired the musical style of Hans Zimmers in the Dark Knight trilogy so I decided to try and recreate one of my favorite game soundtracks in a similar style. A buddy of mine has this synth in his DAW called Zebra which is the same synth that Zimmer used when working on those movies, there's even a preset pack that Zimmer released called "Dark Zebra" which has some of the actual sounds from the films, that's what I used to create most of this track. I picked the battle theme from FF7 because it worked well with the dark tones of the Zebra synth, mixing something like this while also trying to stay true to both the original song and emulate Zimmers style is really difficult, it's basically all bass so sound separation was a nightmare, not to mention sound selection. I'm really happy with the end result and I hope you guys like it as well, this was a lot of work and more than a few called in favors.
  11. I know I need to finish my medieval Halo theme, but this came into my head and refused to leave until I got a demo version down! This is Final Fantasy VII's ordinary battle theme ('Those Who Fight') rearranged in the annoyingly catchy, classic style of 'Elevator Music' (sort of Bossa Nova). It's called 'Final Fantasy 7/11' as I remember this kind of cheesy stuff playing in 7/11s when I visited Tokyo. Would love your thoughts; in some ways it feels fairly rough - in others, like I'm not sure what more can be done with it - so I need some inspiration & feedback! Here's the original theme, just in case you've never heard it or played the game (which you really must do, even if only for the soundtrack!) And here's the demo version of my track (via Soundcloud): Thanks!
  12. Debuted this arrangement back on 9/30 with my jazz/VGM group, The Hard Modes (I'm playing sax). I counted it in a hair too fast and ultimately rushed the melody--the groove definitely could have benefitted from us laying back a bit more. My excuse is going to be that this was the second-to-last tune of the show and I was amped up from how the night had gone to that point Also, fun fact: the groove was influenced by Bernard Purdie's work on Steely Dan's Home at Last. If you'd like to read more about the project as a whole you can also check out my website. Thanks for listening!
  13. I've been thinking about Bizarro Sephiroth being a bonus boss in Kingdom Hearts 3. I think the best theme for that fight would be "Birth of a God" (Final Fantasy VII) and "One Winged Angel" combined in harmony. Is anyone up to the task (I don't care what style it's in as long as the two are mixed in harmony)? If nobody wants to do it, I'll try doing it myself. Original version of "Birth of a God". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJXlOVw-TAs Kingdom Hearts version of "One Winged Angel". I love the shortened arrangement of this version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjS689rvbOw
  14. Hello. Hope no-one minds me posting here but I've looked everywhere! I had my mp3 player stolen a while ago, which had all my favourite remixes on. One in particular I've been looking for since - I can't remember the title, but it was a remix of the main theme or world map of Final Fantasy VII done in a style I believe is called chamber - slow, soft, lots of woodwind, particularly oboe and such. No percussion as far as I remember. Thing is, I'm absolutely certain that I got it from here years ago, but can't find any trace of it anywhere! I've had a real hankering to listen to it recently but google's no help with what I've got to go on. If anyone can help I'll really appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

  16. Hey all, First time posting here. I wanted to share a remix I made of Anxious Hearts off the Final Fantasy VII OST. I've been listening to these remixes for years and finally am able to help contribute! You can check it out here: Also made a 'music video' on YouTube which you can find here:
  17. Heyo! Today I thought I'd throw together this menu concept. Basically a remake of the pre-menu titles from the original Final Fantasy VII. What you guys think?
  18. First of all, GREAT JOB GUYS!! Keep it up, I can't wait to listen to the finished product! I think that Final Fantasy VIII has some of the best music since VI and VII. Any word when 8 will get the OCRemix treatment? How about FF3? Or 10? They have great soundtracks, all done by the genius Nobuo Uematsu! Can't wait for the full realization of the FFV collection!
  19. Hey everyone ! Here's my remix of Ahead On Our Way from Final Fantasy VII. Hope you'll enjoy it =)
  20. Here is our take on this amazing track, in a symphonic metal fashion. We did a video with it, and while square enix is busy with the remake, we decided to go for the demake option! What do you think?
  21. Hey there! Nice to meet you all, my name's Alex, long time lurker actually. I've stumbled upon OCReMix when I discovered the Voices of the Lifestream album. It was then, inspired by such amazing work by so many talented people, that I decided I too wanted to start producing and composing music, even though I didn't have any background in music, it seemed like a good moment to start. Almost three years in, I've grown confident enough to submit something here with serious intentions. The track is an orchestral arrangement I made of a Final Fantasy VII track, "On That Day, 5 Years Ago", which is one of my most favorite tracks ever from Nobuo Uematsu. I'm not sure if it's good enough though, as it's written in a genre that is quite outside of my comfort zone, I'm more an electronic/action sound design, but since I'd definitely love to become better with orchestras I tried to make it this way. Any feedback from both the mods and the fellow composers of the forum would be more than greatly appreciated! Thank you so much, Alex Links to the remix & to the original track: Remix - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2tJmHuW7Z8 Original Track - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEZNywlt_gM
  22. Hello! I want to share a remake (homemade by me) of this beautiful song from FF7.I hope you'll like it! Thanks for listening! FF7 Cosmo Canyon Remix
  23. Hey! I've been trying to learn more about the overall process of recording, EQ'ing, mixing, using virtual instruments and mastering. Still very amateurish but I thought I'd share and see what advice people might have and hope they enjoy. For this track I was going for something a little more moody than the original, which can be found here. Youtube: SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/logan-r-dowell/on-the-other-side-of-the-mountain
