  1. https://youtu.be/q3skfM-cH9Y A game I almost forgot until a couple of years was Little Nemo Dream Master. The first stage, Mushroom Forest, had such an unforgetable theme and it brings back both feelings and memories I also think it has this melancholic amtosphere which I believe comes from the harmony in the chords that's used. Another thing I loved with this stage was the big mushrooms and enemies lurking around in that dark forest. It really fits into what is supposed to mimic the dreams of Nemo. Of course I remember one more thing, this game was dead hard. I didn't manage to get through many stages, but I really wish I had because I heard the ending is great. Did you guys beat this game? As you can hear I made some difference in the chord progression in the first section, starting with minor chords instead of major. It gave a bit of a new atmosphere with just a little distance to the original. The bass line is very influenced by one of my favourite synthwave artists/producers - Mitch Murder. Listen to the song Assembly Line and you hear nothing but perfection in sense of production, mixing and quality. The perfect reference music if you're looking for a clean sound. I hope that I could come close to that some day! I was fooling around with a distorted lead sound during the creation of this remix, and at the same time was a bit inspired by metal (which I listened to a lot in the past). This resulted in the section starting at 1:11 (right after a heavy metal inspired solo) with double bass drums following what sounds like down tuned distorted guitars/basses in a not so common but hot rhythm. The forest ambience sound is found on freesound.org and contributes to the total atmosphere of forestness. I hope you enjoy this one! Maybe not a very common game, but I played it at some friends houses and liked the music back then as much as I do now. Hope it can bring back some memories of yours too! /Neon X
  2. This isn't the first remix from a game I've completed, however it is one I am more confident with: https://www.bandlab.com/vodouqueenxiii/groove-of-the-ancients-jazz-funk-dance-mix I decided I might as well throw myself into the deep-end (hope I'm doing it right), but yeah. Any advice, pointers, or criticisms (good or bad) would be great. Hoping to get something into submission at some point... I realize Cakewalk / BandLab is not on the usual list of DAWs to work with, by the way, but it's all I have to work with at the moment. I am extremely new to composing, arranging, mixing and mastering music on my own, (with nothing but me learning from YouTube vids, what bit of information I still have on music theory from years ago in band, and other tidbits on the internet). I'm practically a tadpole in a pond. Don't want anyone to go easy on me despite all this, please. Look forward to the comments. o/ Cheers!
  3. I know people are usually averse to VG covers with vocals, but for this one I parodied a song that's supposed to have lyrics while incorporating a VG track. Do you think it worked out? Originals:
  4. Here's a couple of songs I finished. I used a couple of Garage Band loops and a bunch of reharmonization. Hopefully I'll make this into a whole album. Mr. Jazz Man (This one's more Daft Punk inspired, funky and electronic) generic electronic track#1 (This one is kinda R&B and electronic) I've got 3 more in the making at the moment but hopefully I'll have 10 or so.
  5. Second out of 3 uploads today! The Dark World, remade in FLS 12 using only ONLY Morphine and a drum loop. Here you go. Reviews are welcome https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1cNg5GTkCUIc1ZmZkdKLWk1R0U
  6. A remix/mashup of Sneakman from the original Jet Set Radio and Fly Like A Butterfly from Jet Set Radio Future. It's primarily a Sneakman remix, but since I added a bunch of samples from Fly Like A Butterfly, and since this style of music is very sample based, I'm calling it a mashup of sorts. Suggestions/criticism appreciated! Also, I did not sample the songs themselves; however, I did use samples used in the songs. I know sampling the song disqualifies a remix but I think this should be fine considering that it's not a direct sample and this type of music is heavily sample-based. Please let me know if I'm wrong about that! I also realize there's a long tail of silence at the end, I'd fix that when it's good enough to submit. 7. The Minish Cap is my favorite game in the Zelda franchise, and I've putting off my favorite song from the game (Minish Village) for quite a while. I finally said, "You know what, I'm gonna do it." So I got around to starting this project. Don't think I'm quite done yet, but I've got the bulk of it done. Most recent version of mix:
  8. I had a lot of fun arranging this. I joined my school's jazz band this year, and after playing a few retro tracks, I just sat down and made my own chord progression that sounded kind of like a 70's whole deal. And then I thought, "What if I put the Mario theme over this?" And I fell in love. I definitely went for the more funky weird vibe with this one. Let me know what you think! I think I finally fixed it, I made lots of edits to try and make this one better. It should be pretty near completion if not already. Most recent version:
  9. Hey guys, it's been a while, but I've been busy. I've put together a 35 minute EP of Sonic The Hedgehog remixes from the 8 and 16 bit eras of Sonic called Zoned. The musical style is a blend of Electro-Funk and Retrowave with sprinklings of Chiptune. Included tracks from both 8 and 16 bit versions of Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Sonic Chaos. Also interweaved into this album are soundbites from the games themselves, excerpts from 90s SEGA TV commercials, and dialogue from various video game documentaries that discuss both the significance of SEGA and Sonic The Hedgehog in the history and develop of video games and video game music. Tracks remixed are: Turquoise Hill Zone (Sonic 2 - 8 bit) Sky High Zone (Sonic Chaos) Star Light Zone (Sonic 1) Hydrocity Zone (Sonic 3) Bridge Zone (Sonic 1 - 8 Bit) Spring Yard Zone (Sonic 1) Underground Zone (Sonic 2 - 8 bit) Casino Night Zone - 2 Player (Sonic 2) Chemical Plant Zone (Sonic 2) It was released in conjunction with RadioSEGA and premiered on Sunday night as part of their Winterfest. If you didn't listen to the show and/or haven't yet grabbed a download, please help yourself. https://opussciencecollective.bandcamp.com/album/zoned Have a lovely Christmas and keep gaming, fellow remixers . Steve
  10. I'm back Feeling nostalgic from those old school bass lines in shoot em ups; and came up with this. Thanks for listening
  11. This is my first post on here! Been experimenting making funk jams with a quirky video game feel. What do you guys think? How the funk can I obtain the funk?
  12. Hey guys, don't normally post original music on this forum, but thought you might be interested in our last EP. It's 5 tracks that combine 80s synthwave, chiptune and 90s funky house. Have a listen, hope you like it http://opussciencecollective.bandcamp.com/album/i-wish-my-car-was-a-transformer
  13. Here is a Funky/Jazz remix of the Fairy Fountain theme i'm working on. https://app.box.com/s/hy3ypsg4ymq60b23t2vmf4up4327c8g6 It's unfinished and i'm not sure how to proceed with the arrangement, a drum solo perhaps?
  14. Greetings all, So I had recently released an EP, and I totally forgot that I can share my original work here with you guys...which is awesome because this site and the community are awesome. I would love to hear what you guys and gals think. Constructive criticism, opinions and judgements are all welcome. https://soundcloud.com/michaelisel/the-town-of-smiling-machines
  15. I always wanted to remix Dark World from lttp, and i always thought that it would fit into a 7/8 rhythm (and i was right). Not finished yet, but here's what i've got so far. Remix: https://app.box.com/s/qmjsrz4t86go1xrkaj7hw662iflng5ng Source: http://youtu.be/fde_HaMXCo8 Definitely a more faithful approach, do you agree?
