Instrumental & Vocal Skills (Other)

  1. This is a version of the Chocobo Theme I recorded in my teaching room a few years back (tracked and mixed from my phone) and I was thinking about doing a full-blown Irish Folk/Jazz thing with it with solos and some new melodies. I thought the palette was pretty nice for what it is, though! Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in hearing.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums but would love to share some of the work I've done with my group Becoming Elephants. It's got a musical vibe similar to some video game soundtracks like Castlevania/Mega Man/TMNT but also some modern sounds that draw influence from progressive rock, metal, and jazz fusion. It's all instrumental and our first album is a concept album. Hope you enjoy it! It's available in it's entirety for streaming on Soundcloud, YouTube, and Spotify. Thanks!
  3. This is a little ambitious project I've been working on lately for Halloween. The song is supposed to portray a man waking up in a mysterious forest after a night of binge drinking out of depression. As the man wanders through this forest looking for a way out, he has inner battles with himself about who he his as a person. At night this causes him to hallucinate his fears. It actually gets pretty crazy and ends with him running into a small alien scout group. The man eventually escapes them at the end. From this moment the main realizes what he needed in life: Inspiration. Enjoy and don't be afraid to leave feedback. Happy October!
  4. Final Fantasy VII 'Fighting (7/8 Jazz Spiritual)' This is a really nice piece of work, although I can’t say I’d like to listen to a lot of this genre, this mix is well done. Except, what gets at my nerves at the back of my spin, is when people put vocals in a mix, spoken word, lyrical, sung, or otherwise, and they are not audible enough to understand. I’m repeating this mix over and over trying to get what is being said, but I can’t make sense of it. Either make it audible, or leave it out, because it’s a major annoyance. Good stuff, Lau, just pump up the volume on your mic some.
  5. Hey everyone! Just kinda looking for some general feedback on this one, as it won't be getting any more edits. Thanks! (also BIG shoutout to Marc P. for comin through with the Horn section) Sources: Bonetrousle Dating Start! Dating Tense! Dating Fight!
  6. Another week, another cover! I'd like to hear about Mario songs in this community, Tell me your favorite Mario related songs =)
  7. Hi guys! This is my first attempt at remixing/arranging a VGM song - I did this for InsaneInTheRainMusic's challenge, and i just wanted to share this with this wonderful community that has provided me with insight and inspiration (as a lurker) for a long time now. Below, you can find the YouTube Video of the performance. Tutankoopa!
  8. Man it's been a while since I've actually posted in here. I'm mainly just a forum lurker absorbing all of your information for my self betterment XD I did a short little project on Sunday (About 10 hours total) and played some jazz covers of the first five square enix tracks that popped into my head and so here you go! All free dls and stuff - bandcamp is linked for HQ stuff.
  9. Hello OCR, Here's another cover. Jazz this time. Worked on it longer than I wanted to. I have been practicing my guitar skill. It's going in the right direction, but I'm not there yet.(My drawing skills are also improving xD btw) Feedback is always welcome(so are compliments:P) Anyway, as always I won't be working on this one anymore. No idea what I'm going to do next actually...though I do have to spend time on school this week. Enjoy!
  10. Hi everyone! Newcomer to this place in his early 20s that's been into music producing for some time alongside general artistry. I tend to go under the name Plumegeist during the musical escapades and have been involved in a few remix stints. Among other things I've been involved with the first iteration of The Sonic Stadium Music Album (with remixes of For True Story and Sonic Boom as my personal standouts of that time) and I'd also done a few Cave Story remixes way beforehand when I was only just starting out. More recently I did a remix of Shovel Knight's Lich Yard tune. In terms of original works I've produced music/sounds for a few Ludum Dare indie games (Timespunkers, Tipping Point, Royal Jelly Roller), and I've also been involved in music for Homestuck, having been included in the coloUrs and mayhem albums that were released a number of years ago. I've been really wanting to get involved with more music communities and I've had good experiences lurking OCRemix in the past, listening to amazing tracks coming out from incredible artists, as well as having heard great things about the community from friends of mine, so I figured I'd join here. I hope to get involved with some things while I'm here! Anyways, with this topic I was hoping to plug an EP I released recently. It's titled A Solitary Moment and is a 7-track EP made for a very leisurely vibe. (I suppose you could argue with this track amount it could be a mini-album but for me it's only just a personal distinction due to the way I approached it) I highly enjoyed my time making this project and I seemed to have received some good feedback from it. If you're into any variety of some chill house, jazz, chiptune and occasional EDM I hope you too might find some things to like about it! The EP is inspired by those enjoyable times for yourself that you have when you might be out and about, or perhaps having lunch at a local coffee shop, what-have-you. As a preview, here's one of the tracks which was inspired by some jazzy early 2000s-era Capcom games. The EP is available for a pay-what-you-want price on Bandcamp, however it's also available for listen on Spotify and a few other music services. If you have any thoughts about it, let me know what you think! Thanks for your time, and much love <3
  11. This is my first post on here! Been experimenting making funk jams with a quirky video game feel. What do you guys think? How the funk can I obtain the funk?
  12. This one is for a vocaloid collab where the singer is looking for a visual novel theme. Made with Reaper
  13. Hi Everyone, Here is my newest ReMix i'm working on. This time i decided to arrange the popular Sub Castle BGM from Super Mario World. I tried to do something different by using a more "upbeat" approach, while still remaining the dark/menacing mood of the source. Probably needs some work on the mixing. 15. Hi everyone, I recently started a radio station at my college where I play video game music and talk about the games that the songs come from. Ever since my family heard the first broadcast they have been interested in hearing more interesting video game music. I have been having difficulty finding music in the genres they like. My father likes Rock; my mother likes Jazz; my cousin likes Metal and my aunt likes Rap. I figured OC ReMix would be the best place to ask for help since no one else knows more about the varieties of video game music than OC ReMix. These songs don't need to be exclusively OC ReMixes; I'm looking for any music on a video game soundtrack, remixed or not. I'm trying my best to find as many songs as I can in these genres, but I only grew up with a PC, PS2 and a SNES, so my recollection of music was limited to those platforms. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very appreciative. You don't need to post a link or anything, just the name (or location/description) of the song and the game it's from. Thank you P.S. I'm very new to forums in general, so sorry if this layout looks weird for a post.
  16. Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike 'Jungle Jazz' It's McVaffe - what do you expect? Quality, that's what! This remix starts with a well-played (or VERY well synthesized) piano solo, then adds jungle drum loops on top of it. Personally, I liked the piano better than the drum loops, as the drums sounded like every other jungle loop. But overall, another winner from McVaffe. Recommended.
  17. Sonic the Hedgehog 'Love Hurts' Again, the download system is broken as I write this, but I wanted to get the review system working for the mix. but it's by djp, so it's gotta be good, right? I'll edit this with an actual review once I get to hear the mix. Edit: OK, now that I've had a chance to listen, I must say I really like this one. For all djp's strength at upbeat action-music-gone-technofunk style, I think his real brilliance lies in more subdued songs, and this mix of his id definitely one of those songs. Love the disco-esqueness here, as it's something we don't see too often on this site. If I were you, I would stop reading right here and download it.
