Instrumental & Vocal Skills (Other)

  1. Final Fantasy V 'Cursed Pirates of the Sea' Yay! An FF5 mix! And one that does not, under any circumstances disappoint. Intro sounds a little like Monkey Island - an very good thing. It then moves into a very eclectic style, using acoustic and synth instruments to very good effect, and covering two songs from FF5. Its not without its share of problems - drums are maybe a tad overpowering, and the horn in the second half sounds a little out of place to me. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
  2. Wild Arms 'Adlehyde Castle Flow' Smooth and blissful. A nice mix. A great game. Very enjoyable.
  3. Zelda II 'Thelonius Temple' Niiiiice! I really like the piano on this one and the overall jazz motif. Very well arranged. I can't think of anything bad to say, except that the remixer has never done anything else besides this! That in itself is a shame. OK and I guess it could be a bit longer.
  4. Mega Man 2 'Bubble Man (Electron Mix)' Organ does the main tune as fake guitars, bass etc come in and out playing different parts. More panning should have been done here, but it's still quite acceptable. The drums have a short delay on them which sounds sort of cool, and there's just enough variety to keep you interested. Some of the highs are a little sharp, but it's still ok for the most part. Ok song, but could have been better in the creativity department.
  5. Gradius 'Horizontal Armada' This sounds pretty cool, fake orchestra with drums and other electronic sounds! Not the best Gradius tune in the world, but this one was a good one to remix and give it that djp touch (it sounds a wee bit similar to his Star Fox mix). The french horn sounds pretty good, though I am used to a bit more texture from french horn sounds. A good listen.
  6. Legend of Zelda 'Jazzy' An excellent jazzy piece from AmIEviL. Very laid back, and that's definitely cool. You won't be breakdancin' or scratchin' records to this (if you're into that stuff) but instead you'll relax and want to socialize. If all lounge music was this good, perhaps it would be a bit more popular.
  7. Alex Kidd in Miracle World 'Sugar High' This was my first ReMix submitted to this fantastic site. I saw that DJP was a Sega fanboy (as am I) so I figured he'd take quick notice to this.... and he did! He quickly posted it and sent me a check for $1,000, which I feel that everyone should do. OK so he didn't do that. This is a decent mix, I think. It shouldn't blow you away and you shouldn't run away screaming, either. I added a string section towards the middle to change things up a bit, otherwise it it the main Alex Kidd melody with far superior instruments than those used in the Sega Master System and Sega Genesis versions of the game.
