  1. So yeah, this is something that has gone through quite a few permutations, and this is my latest attempt:) This was completely done on my phone, mostly during breaks at work, as I have very little time to do anything musical at all at home...I have a toddler;) Most of this was done with Fruit Loops Mobile, with an excerpt from Caustic...the vocoder part. I did a quick and dirty master with the Caustic mastering app. I appreciate the feedback the judges have given through this process...and I have tried to apply their critiques. High pass filter set low frequency, so cool. I appreciate and wish for feedback, Thanks!:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CNSnJLjYjUOpeKlf0TUSajeFjPxAmrRd/view?usp=drivesdk
  2. Hello guys, because Donkey Kong Country 2 is one of my favorite SNES games, i tried to make a remix from my favorite song called "Forest Interlude". I'm not completly happy with the result, so let me know what u think about it . UPDATE:
  3. Made Using FM Composer. Criticism is welcome. https://youtu.be/SrGSUKi4Dfc
  4. Just threw this together quickly as I wanted to pay tribute to my favourite part of the new Streets of Rage 4 soundtrack. For me the soundtrack is really interesting, I personally miss the iconic melodies of the first two games but overall it works, and while I feel it is lacking those catchy melodies, suddenly there are moments like this in the game where it just hits home and immediately feels nostalgic even though it's brand new. https://youtu.be/LfDkxa2Teek
  5. Here's an Animal Crossing track called ''Able Sisters'' that I decided to a lofi remix of. Just felt inspired and wanted to give it some new life, haha. It's technically supposed to be a little older sounding as it's ''Lofi,'' but it has a driving hip hop beat on top of it. I first created a cover of the exact arrangement from the original piece (upright bass, acoustic guitar, flute, drum machine, synths), then I treated that recording as a sample to transform it into the lofi genre. Anyway, here it is! lemme know what you think! a like or comment would be appreciated if you enjoy!
  6. This is different than what I have tried before:) It's supposed to be a rock band playing the tune. I don't know guitar worth a damn, but I tried adding some automation to some guitar parts to make them sound more "human", but I didn't want to overdo it. Remix then original are posted. Thanks for feedback!:) Remix Original Remix https://drive.google.com/file/d/18_SHAPTKIAORVq0P6YcpNAGUcVwHPwlo/view?usp=sharing
  7. Remake Heaven Hello people of ocremix, In this particular Topic I'm going to be posting music that's what this forum is all about: remake/remixes/variations from old nostalgic game music! I started some while ago and to my surprise, people enjoyed the content, so I kept doing it more regularly and now at my Youtube channel I publish a whole new remake Every Monday! This is the updated playlist Take a look and listen! If you happen to like the remake, share, like, comment or even subscribe to my channel to hear more! I'll be posting all new videos here to this topic
  8. Hi everyone, Very new to music production and no musical background etc just fancied a dabble in fl studio, I am very passionate about early Sega games and 16 bit games in general. As one of my favorite games Streets of rage was always the epitome of beat-em-ups for me, additionally i grew up in the 80's when synth sound tracks such as crockets theme or Axel F were popular so i wanted to smash the two together. Please be kind, this is a work in progress and just ideas at present. Streets Of Rage - Moon beach Waves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPYrDPn4UK4 Regards Gav Aka Genesis1983
  9. Hi, So I've decided to finally have a proper go at the remixing and VGM thing, after some prompting from fellow band members and friends. I've done a remix of "NiGHTS and Reala", which I'd love some objective feedback on from people who don't know me. Apologies if this isn't the place for it, but it seemed the most appropriate thread as I'm reaching out to the community. I'm aware it's very similar to the source material, but that's because a) there's no comparison to the source material, and b) I just wanted to jam along with what I knew, to get started. Otherwise, all and any criticism is welcome - thanks very much! Filidecht
  10. I'm steadily working on a remix of the Battle Theme ("Those Who Fight") from Final Fantasy 7. It's my ambition to create a modern version of this theme - but without leaving those elements which make this track so interesting and memorable. So, I decided to keep those orchestral elements from the original theme of the game Final Fantasy 7 and combine it with the punchier and more powerful electronic elements of this theme in the amazing spin-off Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 and add some driving rock elements. 11. Hey guys! So this is my first time posting on OCRemix, a friend of mine suggested I check out your robust and diverse community and share my track here as well. I just uploaded the final track on Soundcloud to be released next week, so I'll be sharing the private link here for all you lovely people to check out You can check it out here!
  12. I've made many changes since my first posting:) Version submitted first https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nHURd09pcMxso4k32o9CuwqUvuTeNww- Latest version 11-7-2019, second submission https://drive.google.com/file/d/18Bv8PRVMqUlDu1CxRpIjNQtLMXxhfbq5/view?usp=sharing Latest Latest version 12-24-2019 This is pretty much completely different, it's something I have been working on under a different name for a short while. The original idea of this tune has gone through the grinder a couple of times, and it was gently suggested that perhaps a different tack might help. My VERY first attempt at Epic FootSteps actually incorporated both walkabout themes from Dragon Warrior 2, and this new version is the second walkabout theme, as opposed to the first. I also add that this is obviously not close to completion, I'm looking for some feedback;) I haven't fiddled with EQ/Mastering yet. I also ask that it be listened to with something that uses ASIO for playback. On my pc, for reasons I have not been able to fathom, playback done with any normal media player sounds MARKEDLY different, in EQ and stereo image/spectrum...and I have tried all solutions googled and asked about here on these forums:) This version is not done with LMMS, as the previous version, and I have installed a few different VST's Original Second Walkabout theme Latest version 12-24-2019 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TMV-pYLpCklO0ZdRx99wiVb8HdT5tAvS/view?usp=sharing
  13. So this is my latest WIP. This one is the first attempt without soundfonts, and done with VST's and Cakewalk. It's rough, not close to being done, just looking for feedback for work done so far. Thanks:) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1K6bENeWlr67w2fE0-eJ0O80hcuhUuz7d
  14. Hello, everyone ! Lately, I listened to the "Perfect Selection: Snatcher Battle" album and discovered this sweet Vocal Cover of the "Peaceful Avenue" track: I really enjoy this version but, since I don't speak japanese at all, I can(t get a single clue of what the song is about. I was wondering is someone here has the skills and five minutes of spare time left to translate the lyrics for me. It's one of these tracks I might want to remix at some point and it could be nice to produce an english version of it. Here's an image taken from the album that might help whoever is interested in this quest: Thanks in advance Cheers !
  15. Hey OCR crowd! Wanted to quick plug the newest Castlevania tribute album I ran, after last year's X68000 album. https://smarturl.it/thebelmontadventure It's what it says on the package; a tribute to the music from the first 2 Gameboy Castlevania games, Adventure and Belmont's Revenge. Again had a fantastic troop of musicians helping me create this album (Snappleman, Alexander Brandon, Viking Guitar, etc.), which I've wanted to do for a little while but never put into motion until earlier this year. It's got a bevy of genres - metal, rock, orchestral, jazzy prog, electronic from a bunch of remix artists and even a few game composers in the mix! I'm really proud of the variety and skill that was brought to this album while covering some of my favorite music from the series. It's released currently on Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music and more. Proceeds will go to Bat Conservation International to help endangered bat species and their habitats; because you can't have a Castlevania without bats!
  16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSmd3EbaO84 A bit of storytelling in a Peter Pan style rap. Please enjoy. Mikey A
  17. This was done about a week ago. I learned to play it on Piano early this week and decided to do another remix of it. I think this one turned out very nicely. A remix of Ray/Zena-Lan Hard Armor theme from Cyber Brawl. Femme Jazz Armour CG - Cupcom5 Here's the video of the original
  18. This is just a tribute to one of the best songs i've heard on a video game, ever! Original song composed by Rob Hubbard, a genius composer and muscician, over the last 40 years. The song that i cover it's the one that appears on "Skate Or Die II" tittles theme stage for NES console Drums were made on "Guitar Pro 5" and edited on "Fruity Loops 7" with VST "EZDrummer MetalMachine" Guitars were recorded on "Vegas 11" trough BOSS GT10 pedalboard. Hope you enjoy it, and greetings from Argentina. Guidorch Link: Original song: Skate Or Die II - Tittle Theme
  19. Hey guys, it's been a minute since I did posted anything to the board. Working on this track and want to get feedback/ideas/critiques on the arrangement. This song is my current canvas for practicing some music theory stuff, but my ear isn't the best catching when harmonies and chords are 'off'. This is half the track so far; and the last 10 seconds of the song is just placeholder vomit to close what I have off. Appreciate it everyone!
  20. Hello! I'm new in the forum, and I think I have a remixer profile since I participated on a cover called "Judgment Funkadelic" from Final Fantasy VII some years ago. I just released a Monster Hunter tribute album, hope you all like it https://thennecan.bandcamp.com/album/tribute-to-the-monsters https://open.spotify.com/album/2VdJYoKKQNS6ZkZZIfXyuW https://itunes.apple.com/mx/album/tribute-to-the-monsters/1453902820
  21. Here's a pretty straightforward metal cover of Undertale's MEGALOVANIA (as if there weren't enough of those). I did one years ago but this one came out much, much better, though admittedly I did rush it as I recorded most of it in a day. I really like the mixing/mastering on this one and any feedback on that aspect is appreciated. SoundCloud:
  22. Hello all and welcome to the second edition of Spin the Wheel! A fun way to showcase appreciation of soundtrack based music in Video Games! Today's video game to remix is here! This is to help brush your knowledge about the compo! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mob5N8UXluhNAUol5mZVyX5yAwUYuAY6KDaPpFzh5Oo/edit?usp=sharing Current games in the wheel: Last weeks winners was a tie from Hoboka, and Ronald Poe! The ones Highlighted in Red are Hoboka's choices that he sent me. The ones Highlighted in Green are Ronald Poe's entries that he sent me. Sadly Ronald only sent me 4 games from 4 systems, so i had to fill in the rest, which are highlighted in Blue. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mob5N8UXluhNAUol5mZVyX5yAwUYuAY6KDaPpFzh5Oo/edit?usp=sharing The Wheel in Action! https://imgur.com/a/yctFa0t Lets SPIN THE WHEEL! It landed on PS1! The random game that was chosen is....... Driver 2! Download available MIDI files here! https://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sony/ps1/ Look under Driver 2. Ctrl + F is a great way to search for things you need. Listen to the Soundtrack: Information about the Game and Soundtrack: Driver 2: Back on the Streets (Or if you are from America. It's called Driver 2: The Wheelman is Back) Is a video game released in 2000 by Reflections Interactive, published by Infogrames. It is a sequal to the first game released in 1999 The game involves you driving in cars and completing missions to progress within the story. This involves running from the police, and mobs, doing damage to other cars, and looking for suspects and witnesses. The plot involves searching a dead man after 2 men shot him during a shootout in a bar. They believe this leads to more clues and they recruit 2 officers to help with the investigation. The music was done by 2 guys. Allistair Brimble (Who at this point was an already established composer from the UK) and Richard Narco. The soundtrack follows in the vein of Funk, particularly from the 70's, like Car Movies. The music at times can be energetic, or slow and....er...funky. There isn't much difference in some tracks, and more or less most follow this style. Some tracks though take a more modern approach, especially within the drum programming. It's not the most innovative soundtrack, but there are some gems to be found on here. Compo starts Today at 6th January 2019! and finishes at 20th January 2019! Voting begins on the 20th January 2019 and finishes on the 27th January 2019. I will inform you who has won on the thread! Please submit a valid mp3 file, in decent quality that is less than 20mb. It must be easy to access and download. A ThaSauce page will be set up soon, so if you can then submissions. It's been an on/off situation with ThaSauce, so SoundCloud is a good choice if ThaSauce isn't working for you. Right now nothing is set up, so submissions will have to be external from this thread, via download links, or streaming services. I recommend using SoundCloud as a choice of service! Add a link here on this thread, if you can. You have 2 weeks to mix! Let's see what you have come up with! Good Luck! Since Ronald Poe and Hoboka already won last time, and contributed some games, they can only participate with a Bonus Mix! You cannot vote for Bonus Mix's, but for the people who won, they get a vote that Counts Twice!
