  1. Dear OCR Community... This is my second remix. I thought it a good idea to look at the "Requests" forum for ideas and found one from "DoubleBro7" that was both fun and challenging. Here's the URL of the original tune on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ZdZ6bwhCmms Here's the URL to my remix of same: http://www.homegrownhymns.com/Celtic_Square.mp3 <- This is the ReMix Here's a screen shot of the remix in the DAW (helps explain the mix): My attempt was to focus on the Celtic feel I got from listening to the original. I tried to stay with the swing 12/8 feel and add triplets as spice. I also added harmony throughout and a new melody line in the middle. Please provide feedback as I always find it helpful Thanks... dabedaab (Steve Snider)
  2. Hey guys, YoungProdigy here. I'm currently working a Latin remix of the Mega Man Battle Network Battle Theme. With this remix; I was trying to for a Steely Dan vibe. It's pretty much finished. You can listen to the source song here: You can listen to my remix here: https://soundcloud.com/youngprodigymusic/mega-man-battle-network-battle-theme-latin-remix-updated
  3. Source: Original Remix: Rhythm Of My Soul Updated Mix (as of 1/3/16): https://soundcloud.com/katallen-12/redux-rhythm-of-my-soul It originally started as a bonus track for a MNP compo, but I think I got a little too ambitious and it's gone beyond that now. I knew from the start that I was going to do an orchestral, but it changed directions slightly and went from a brass-heavy booming orchestral to more of a soulful string-filled song. I did aim to keep quite a bit of the "boom" in it, though. I'm particularly proud of the solo sections, something I've always struggled with. Although I'll still be touching it up and adjusting things, I consider the arrangement itself to be finished. As always, comments and critique are helpful(and much appreciated/needed!), and I hope it's an enjoyable piece.
  4. I've been working on this for a while. I submitted an atmospheric Death Egg song ages ago that was nowhere near OCR quality, this I realize. However, after being off the site for a while and finally coming back, I want to try my hand again, this time with symphonic rock. Source material: Death Egg Zone, Hidden Palace Zone https://soundcloud.com/uberwulf-x/rise-of-the-death-egg I was gonna start off with this as Finished because I've been working it with some feedback offsite, but I'm still getting feedback and would like y'all's so here it is as a WIP.
  5. Goodness gracious, it's been a long time posting something new here. Anyway: Extreme-G - Nocturnal Hive (WIP #1) Been revising my dated 'Nocturnal' remix in Renoise since yesterday. Most of the XG mix is done, but as this is work-in-progress, I haven't got the lead, the sound effects, and/or other parts yet. Also, please let me know if you have any suggestions to help improve what I have so far. =) I hope you'll enjoy. Based on 'City 2: Urban Motorway' from Extreme-G (1997). 6. Hi! I created a remix of the DKC 2 Credits theme, to give it an uptempo groove. This is an original remix, which I created in FL Studio 11. I took the main elements from the original track, and revamped it with an upbeat tempo and some cameos of my favorite DKC2 songs. Please take a listen, any and all feedback is appreciated. https://soundcloud.com/rakafella1018/donkey-kong-country-2-credits-theme-remix This version has included the judges' feedback. Looking for feedback on their improvement points: Sidechaining the kick to the bass and backing elements Reducing repetition Adding more SFX and sweeps Dialing back the levels Adding more panning to spread out sound Variation to beat, and beefier kick/snare Achieving a track that evolves over time This feedback was based on the older version I submitted to the OC remix judges: https://soundcloud.com/rakafella1018/donkey-kong-country-2-credits-theme-remix-older-version Specific feedback can be seen here: http://ocremix.org/community/topic/41310-no-donkey-kong-country-2-kong-konvention/ Original track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrexCu_gi_A THANK YOU!
  7. I started working on the Underwater Theme from the original Super Mario Bros. I went through what's in the original song and I'm not entirely sure where I want to go with it but I'm liking this so far! Let me know what you think! <3 <3 <3
  8. Originals: (Best version ever ) Remix: https://soundcloud.com/killing-pepsi/toccata-and-fugue-in-doopliss-minor-wip-1 This project has been on the back-burner for a few years now, and last winter I listened to the Canadian Brass version of toccata and fugue in d minor and thought, "Hey, that sounds like the Doopliss battle theme a little". So I put in some parts from toccata (most aren't in this rendered version/intro sounded too cheesy) and I wanted to pick this remix back up again this summer. The transitions aren't great and some drum sounds aren't set, but most of the outline sans intro of the track is relatively there. I also started out with the mini-boss theme, don't know why.
  9. https://soundcloud.com/katallen-12/zeliard-hotel-satono Let me first say that I have no idea what the hell I've done. Boredom + Midi Keyboard + Zeliard soundtrack, I suppose. This was literally the first thing that came to mind upon hearing Zeliard's "Satono Town" track.. I'm not sure if it's even worth pursuing(or if I'll get around to it). Then again, I do recall 'Super Mario's Sleigh Ride'. Not that this would ever compare to that masterpiece of a mix. I just felt like taking a break from more serious things. It's not a particularly fancy arrangement at this point. Source: Edit 7/30: After exploring the main melody a bit more I don't think I'd be able to pull off a full mix/blend of the two songs(I wasn't expecting to in the first place). I hope this has been entertaining nonetheless, but I think this will be shelved indefinitely.
  10. https://soundcloud.com/ffmusicdj/genki-rockets-heavenly-star-ff-remix If I had a vocalist, I would very much like to submit this to OCR. It would be very easy to reproduce the effect with different vocals. I don't know anyone who can sing. Anyone liked or played Lumines? For me it was addictive, I played it for hours. Thought this was an appropriate remix for the game.
  11. Hi, Here's a remix of the ever so popular Luna's Boat Song / Wind Nocturne from that super old JRPG. I would love some tips / advice how to get the recording to sound awesome. I only know the basics of EQ / compression / reverb, and it seems like I've got a long way to go before I get a super pro quality sound. Detailed feedback & constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated! Luna's Boat Song [2015.07.06] Source Thanks, Jer

  13. Hey everyone this is Kamex! I am 17 years old and I've been trying to make music for 4 years with FL studio. I haven't really tried my hand at making EDM until 2 years ago and I didn't fit any of my music into genres until last year. I would say my strongest genre at the moment is Drum and Bass. It is my favorite genre and I've always wanted to learn how to make DnB songs. This ReMix I am presenting is from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky. It is a dungeon called Fortune Ravine. You can find the original song here: And here is my WIP of it: http://www.mediafire.com/listen/a527a5n1jhhfj7a/Kamex+-+Fortune+Ravine.mp3 So please let me know what I should improve on, what I should change, or what you like about it and so on!
  14. Since we are now celebrating 30 years of Gradius, and Konami at the moment is a pale shadow of what it was back then, I'm starting a 'Parodius Da!' Medley in which I'll rearrange the character selection theme, the 4 character themes which are also used in every transition between levels, and I'll finish it up with the continue (still not sure about that one) and ranking themes. Konami at its best. I'll keep posting as I progress. take a listen if you have the interest Original: https://youtu.be/NDssUDCWP8o?list=PL-YBjGrF290TalTD80uaiczfFvTE9pUis https://youtu.be/NDssUDCWP8o?list=PL-YBjGrF290TalTD80uaiczfFvTE9pUis My take; https://app.box.com/s/vfw3w1nplngt2os7ii444514lcsgc2yh Cheers!
  15. Here is a Funky/Jazz remix of the Fairy Fountain theme i'm working on. https://app.box.com/s/hy3ypsg4ymq60b23t2vmf4up4327c8g6 It's unfinished and i'm not sure how to proceed with the arrangement, a drum solo perhaps?
  16. Original theme: The running joke with this theme in the community is that it's completely awful and out of place, so what started as a quick joke transcription became something a little more involved: https://app.box.com/s/43vyzaosxhu1ex8ynlp2rnswf49wb0do I usually don't do this type of music so this was a little difficult, but hopefully it came out alright. Any advice and feedback is appreciated. Thank you!
  17. Themes arranged: Mega Man Battle Network 4 Main Theme Tournament Battle Theme, "Battle Pressure" My arrangement: Full Synchro (WIP v1) This is actually a new take on an arrangement I first tried back in 2010 when I first started this whole music production thing. I got a pretty decisive "NO" from the judges back then, but I've learned a lot more in the years since, and I really liked these tunes, so I figured I'd take a second stab at this, even though the project file from that first try is long gone now. I couldn't find the original WIP thread, either, so I figured I'd make a new one. Maybe it got lost in a board purge or something, I'm not sure. This take is mostly identical in structure to my initial attempt, but I may make some more drastic changes depending on feedback. Also, I know the piano bit in the middle and the synth solo afterward are kind of wack. I couldn't really settle into a good melodic line for either despite two days of work and decided I should just jot something down and move on with the track. Both will likely be very different, and, hopefully, much better, after the next revision. Let me know what you think.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_o8zXd8Upk I think this is the composition I want to work with. I'm having trouble with mixing though; I pretty much just laid down every instrument and now I'm not sure how to make everything sound less muddy! I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask about that though edit:updated thank you all for the suggestions! I went back and took the advice on choosing better instruments, specifically the bass. The EQing tips were also very helpful
  19. Still got some work to do on this, but what do ya think of it so far? Mix: https://soundcloud.com/audiocolor/tetris-type-c-wip da.. Sauce:
  20. Remix of a couple of songs from the DOS game Corridor 7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corridor_7:_Alien_Invasion UPDATE 01 (LATEST): https://clyp.it/cdwzfhnd FIRST DRAFT: https://clyp.it/dzusrzlz SOURCES: heavy2.mid = https://youtu.be/iHDvnqX8MS4 l1_var.mid = https://youtu.be/Qr4fLrfW2oA level3.mid = NOTES: I'm just using a Megadrive/Genesis soundfont to write it. I'll make the full production after I get done writing the song.
  21. Hey, this is my first time actually posting a WIP here. It is a remix of the main title theme. The first time I heard when playing through Prime I knew that I would want to remix it when I got a decent DAW. That happened about a year ago, so here's what I have so far. Remix - http://tindeck.com/listen/unkez Source - Edit 1 - Changed out some instruments and tried to clean up chords and make arrangement less muddy in general.
  22. Hello everyone! I decided to make an account here so that I could really get serious about improving my remixes, so I'm starting off by posting a recent orchestration I did of the surfing theme from pokemon ruby/sapphire. Mainly, I'm looking for feedback about the quality of sound. I'm still not very good at making unique arrangements, but I've been trying to work on it. I think I could use work on things like mastering/dynamics and such, but tips on anything would be appreciated! Here's a link to the newest version of the remix: http://tindeck.com/listen/xfank ..and here's a link to the source in case you haven't heard it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMumv8yML-Q
  23. Hey all, it's been a while since I've been here. I have a piano waltz remix of the Village and Town themes from the SNES version of SimCity and was hoping for some constructive criticism and evaluation of this track. I've only done a little effect work, and while it's not dry, it's not polished either - but that will be fixed. Mostly looking for critiques of the arrangement and content. Thanks for listening! 24. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/wtsdgi92x69v10q/p9217.mp3?dl=0 Made this earlier, the square wave = vocal filler (Vocaloid Luka). Although it's probably a given, the MIDI percussion is filler as well to be replaced by higher quality samples and piano is to eventually be replaced by various instruments and is meant only to get a raw composition concept down (as goes for all my piano tracks). Genre elements - Happy J-Core/gabber/breakcore/extratone
  25. Hey, this is my first remix that's anywhere close to completion so I figured I should post it in the Workshop and see what people think. Basically, I was doodling around in SONAR one day and realized I could very easily turn it into the Bonnes' theme from Megaman Legends, and it eventually turned into this. Any advice is welcome. Source: ReMix: http://tindeck.com/listen/mwlwx And if there are any errors/missing information with how or where I posted this, please let me know. edit (7/8/2015): Updated the link with a newer version.
