  1. Time for a 2nd remix of the dos game Skyroads (1993). yeah Road 8 Music was my fav and i love the melodies . the first version was then drum n bass and created in 2013 via mellow sonic. Now a little more faithful to the original. Enjoy
  2. First time posting! Lena Raine's soundtrack is incredible and Exhale is probably one of my favourite tracks on the album. Transferring the melody to the flute part meant that I could play around a bit more with the piano accompaniment, in addition to playing around with the countermelody towards the end. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
  3. Jin's heroic march is clearly an homage to the themes of old Super Robot anime such as Getter Robo, and Mazinger Z, and as such was composed as an orchestral piece rife with horn blasts, and violin swells. However, Marvel vs. Capcom was one of the last games developed for the CPS2 arcade hardware, so the theme was never properly realized given the limitations of the CPS2's audio hardware.. My arrangement was crafted with one goal in mind: modernize as much of the instrumentation as possible so as to realize Yuko Takehara's original vision for Jin's theme. Unfortunately, even my attempt at rendering Takehara's true vision is hampered by the fact that although the MIDI instruments in GarageBand are a noticeable improvement over Capcom's CPS2 soundfont, they still do not sound entirely authentic. Still, I gave my best effort, recording live guitar, using the best suited drum kit in GarageBand, and stacking the horns to achieve as realistic sounding an orchestra as possible without the use of an AU instrument, or sampling. The only element I could not recreate to my satisfaction was the CPS2 orchestra hit, so I used the same hit found in the original composition (sampled directly from the CPS2 soundfont). Constructive feedback is always welcome. Thanks! Song Title: "Heart of the Typhoon" (Jin Saotome Theme Remix) Originally Composed By: Yuko Takehara Arranged and Performed By: The Native Dialect BPM: 238 Style: Symphonic Metal Hardware: iMac, Ibanez Talmon Software: GarageBand, Audacity Heart of the Typhoon Source
  4. Hey everyone, new video! This is an arrangement of "Gourmet Race" from Kirby Super Star. I had the idea of arranging this piece in a Russian Folk song format, after listening to Korobeiniki, the main theme for Tetris played by the Red Army Choir, and also hearing it played in a number of guises at MagFest, I got the feeling that the music in Gourmet Race would really be very suitable for that kind of music. I gave it a go, and was very pleased with the resulting piece
  5. Now a another game remix. Yea i have now also ratchet and clank for me and the game is fucking awesome \o/ as well as the soundtrack by david bergeaud. 6. This remix has been a work in progress for a long time. I wanted to mash together a number of favorite tracks from the Donkey Kong Country and Land series of games. I had a lot of trouble getting things to work well together and ended up pretty much abandoning the project (very disappointed). I decided to swap out a few instruments for the new FLEX synth in FL Studio and managed to at least finish the thing. It is definitely not at the quality level where I would have liked it but I don't want to really continue working on it either. I'm posting it anyway. I still find it personally enjoyable PS: ever since I started sharing tracks on OCR I've been having this nagging voice in my head that keeps saying "They're sure to point out the lack of humanization". This is one of the toughest things to get right for me and I don't need the added pressure from voices inside or outside my head Now, no one is actually putting that pressure on me; its just my insecurity. I'm trying to let it go, as well as weird ideas of supposed expectations people have of me.
  7. This was done back in May of this year. I've been wanting to do another Monster World remix because the music is so peaceful, which was precisely what I was aiming for. I wanted to submit this, but I wanted to get a personal feedback on it from one of the evaluators to see if it was okay for submission. Wonder Boy V: Monster World III Village Theme 2 Publisher: Sega (1991) Composer: Shinichi Sakamoto Original song- Please let me know if any info is missing, I will be happy to update it. Tranquil Time to Visit CG.mp3
  8. Hiya guys, new piece here: ………*drumroll*………. …...The Football March! This is an arrangement for a full orchestra; a March based on the End Credits music of Super Mario World. As the Game is American Football-themed (the Chargin' Chucks, Goalposts, etc.), I decided to give this piece the name "The Football March". I have had plans on writing this piece for some time as the swing to the piece, as well as the faster strict-rhythm section made great material for a more flamboyant and impacting piece than the 16-bit music would permit, so I decided to give it the power of a full Orchestra to bring it to life much more. In this arrangement, I kept the music true to its original form, but developed the sounds through the different families of the Orchestra; Strings, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion to really spice the Orchestration up and make it sound like a March for an American Football event! Disclaimer:- Original music is by Koji Kondo.
  9. Hello! I just finished this old school RuneScape main theme arrangement. I used Serum for synth sounds and EastWest vst for orchestral things in this. Arrangement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCP44JE6LSs Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1ovvUMWWk4
  10. This might sound familiar. That's because I originally made it almost 3 years ago. However, I recently remastered it to sound clearer and less muddy. I label it as completed, but I still welcome any feedback and may change things based on feedback. https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/884680 On the listen page, you can find the original as well. There's a huge difference right from the beginning as far as how it sounds. No other changes were made but the mixing.
  11. I made this piece for a contest on Reddit, please enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ieg8iXnKscM
  12. Hi there everybody! I completed a new arrangement, entitled "The Marine Waltz". This is an arrangement for a full orchestra; a Waltz based on two themes: The Underwater music from Super Mario Bros., and Super Mario World. It's modelled on the Waltzes of Strauss and Tchaikovsky. I've have had plans on writing this piece for some years, as the melodies make fantastic material for a Waltz - the bouncy rhythms lend themselves to powerful and vivid orchestration. In this arrangement, I intended to evoke the atmosphere of a 19th Century Dance Hall. After a slow introduction, based on the opening line of the SMW Underwater theme, the theme is then played through in its entirety, first in the Woodwinds, then in the Strings, as the Brass provides the rhythm, before building up to the end of the section where the music modulates from F major to C major. The SMB Underwater theme is brought in, being played through three times in ever increasing thickness of orchestration, before the music comes to a radiant conclusion using a segment of the SMB Underwater theme in a Tchaikovsky-esque Coda.
  13. Hey everybody! This is an arrangement of the "Menu 1" Music from Super Smash Bros. Melee, which featured in the Materia Collective "MENU" Album at the beginning of the year. In this piece, I took the original version and developed adding sections to the piece that enhances it's martial, combative atmosphere. This is the Live recording, featuring musicians from Materia Collective. Disclaimer: Original music is by Hirokazu Ando, Images are original game artwork and in-game screenshots.
  14. Hey there! I recently completed this arrangement of the 7AM theme from the original Animal Crossing that I thought I would share. It was interesting process to adapt this to live instruments and add some more jazzy elements to the tune, as well as expand on the drums to make things a bit more interesting. Hope you guys enjoy it!
  15. hey Back with a new game remix. I did not know the Ps2 version. The menu theme is really good, only too short. So i remixed this longer enjoy.
  16. my second remix from the SS2 OST and the fastest track I've done so far, enjoy!
  17. Another piece I did for DoD, but unlike the last one (which was a mostly straightforward cover), this one is a mashup of 2 songs from the OST and has a much more original arrangement. Haven't submitted yet, but I think I may sometime soon. Let me know if there's some mix tweaks or anything else that could improve it before I do! Originals: Now, smashed and banged (smanged!) together and turnt to 11:
  18. Remake Heaven Hello people of ocremix, In this particular Topic I'm going to be posting music that's what this forum is all about: remake/remixes/variations from old nostalgic game music! I started some while ago and to my surprise, people enjoyed the content, so I kept doing it more regularly and now at my Youtube channel I publish a whole new remake Every Monday! This is the updated playlist Take a look and listen! If you happen to like the remake, share, like, comment or even subscribe to my channel to hear more! I'll be posting all new videos here to this topic
  19. For now, I call it "High Voltage" You see what I did there? I just wanted everyone to get a listen and maybe let me know what they think of this mix. I worked for almost 14 hours on it. And yes, I still upload on Newgrounds. It's still a thing and still alive.
  20. Sharing my latest metal remix of a track called "We've Got Hostiles" (link) from the original 2012 Black Mesa soundtrack. After the Black Mesa devs recently announced that the Xen Beta would go live soon (which it did a couple of days ago) I was super exited and wanted to celebrate this with a remix. When I planned it out, I unfortunately was not aware that the release of the dedicated (and absolutely gorgeous) soundtrack for Xen by Joel Nielsen was also immenent. Therefore, I picked a song from the original 2012 soundtrack. Wanted to share this here because I appreciate the OCR community a lot. Had some good discussions and feedback here in my early remixing days (aka. a couple of years back). But, to be honest with you, I'm not planning on submitting this one. Two reasons for this: Firstly, the remix contains a couple of voice lines from Half-Life 2, and this kind of stuff is always an issue from a copyright standpoint. Secondly, the last couple of remixes I submitted seem to have vanished into the nether, without any feedback / judge decision whatsoever. Totally understandable, from the "active judges" thread it is obvious that you are understaffed at the moment and while probably being flooded with submission more than ever. Anyways, enough rambling. Hope some of you stumble upon this thread and give this remix a listen. If you do, definitely let me know what you think! Imma go back to pondering if making a remix of "Shadows of Death" from the Xen soundtrack might be low-hanging fruit or not at this point.
  21. Hi there! I just finished my new Touhou cover. I guess this production goes toward some electronic dance music genre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhj9AcqsG34
  22. Hey all, Proud to release this finally! Not too long ago, I worked on a huge Final Fantasy 9 homage project called "Beyond the Mist", presented by the Pixel Mixers. This is my contribution to their project. The song is based on the location known as Oeilvert where...lol...your party has their magic ability sealed. I put a lot of work into this one and hope you enjoy! Also, you can download the full album free through the link in the video
