Quoted from NYTimes. I'd link it, but you need a login to view it.

"..Ms. Lawrence said that since the controversy over her remarks erupted she had watched someone play the game for about two and a half hours. "I recognize that I misspoke," she said. "I really regret saying that, and now that I've seen the game and seen the sex scenes it's kind of a joke.

"Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it's like pornography," she added. "But it's not like pornography. I've seen episodes of 'Lost' that are more sexually explicit."

At least she admitted to it being a mistake.

Adam Sessler proves once again that he is the last remotely good thing about G4.

I haven't looked into anything regarding Mass Effect debate. But then again, I haven't really even played the game (the whole thing with the elevators was starting to annoy me, and that kind of stuff doesn't hardly bother me!). Fox news must not have much to talk about if they have to talk about a video game they've not even played...

As regards to Adam Sessler, you should have seen him TRYING to debate with Jack Thompson. In that debate, Adam looked like a squabbling idiot. Instead of acting calm and collective (as a SMART man would've done), he came off as some fanboy chewing someone out. And the entire time you could tell he had a cocky grin on his face like, I'm so much better than you. But then again, I guess anybody would if they were debating with Thompson.

I had no problems viewing the NY Times one. And at the bottom is an update on the current standings of the "talk" between the two. Sadly it's looking less and less likely that anything will come of it.

"Electronic Arts, the giant publisher that owns Mass Effect, has asked Fox News for a correction. A Fox News spokesman would say only that Electronic Arts had been offered a chance to appear on the channel. An Electronic Arts spokesman said the company had not yet decided whether to accept the offer."

Sure. Invite them to come onto the channel that flamed them, one that doesn't allow anyone to speak unless they have the same opinion. I can just see how that goes....

Ha.

Hahaha.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

-_-. Sorry. But honestly, she's quoted in the article as saying that she "misspoke." She also made these statements based on ONE ignorant prude's testimony. That ain't journalism, folks.

"Irate gamers have flooded the page on Amazon.com selling Ms. Lawrence’s most recent book, “The Cult of Perfection: Making Peace With Your Inner Overachiever,” sending its user-generated rating into oblivion."

*Breaks into hysterical laughter once again.*

Learning of this has intensified my love for gamers (and Adam Sessler) to an almost obscene degree.

I can't stand Fox News. Fox News is the kind of thing that you find on TV that makes you want to lob your television through the window in a livid rage. It's sad that their 'journalists' have to literally make something up when they run out of controversy.

But the gaming community's reaction to this nonsense really warms my heart. *wipes a tear* Ah, gamers. Leave it to us to know the most wonderful ways to take vengeance upon those who affront us. One star... Brilliant. XD

I still have doubts about EA in it's track record of worker exploitation and monopolizing the NFL video game market, but this combined with their support of game reviewers in Gerstmanngate is making them come out smelling like roses. I guess it's to be expected - the largest of the game companies defending their industry - but factual representation is something that most gamers hold dear, as should most people, and there are so many companies nowadays that are infringing on it. Nice to see EA holding ground for all of us.

EDIT: The Sessler bit is great, although a little fast. "I have a TV show" is a great line (I have a radio show, but about 5 people listen to it).

Fox News continually fucks things up. As a communist-leaning registered Independent (the Marxist-socialists, not the soviet pinko-commies - basically I'm the centerfielder that's straddling the left field foul line), I see Fox News as the degeneration of all moderate civil society. Murdoch's right-wing conspiratory viewpoints are fully emblazoned on everything that network shows, and left-leaning or democratic representatives are consistently given unequal time, or are bumbling idiots in their own regard. Therefore, this doesn't suprise me at all, as the network that decides for you as they "report" is, just as it has been for a decade, more of a tabloid mess than a legitmate waste of cable.

LOL Faux News.

I commend Lawrence for coming clean, but this also shows again how shitty Fox's journalism is. Getting second hand information (which may be all rumored) from people before going on the air counts as research?

I wish I could show up to my English professor and admit to him, "Sorry to tell you, but I BS-ed on my report and Googled some stuff last minute, but hey, I still get to keep my grade, right?"

Yeah, having self-proclaimed "experts" on to fill up time when there's apparently nothing worth reporting is NOT journalism.

I feel sorry for Amazon, though, who now have to go through a whole lot of crap for the fact that they've taken down most of the irrelevant reviews, what with cries of censorship and such, as though this actually improves the books rating (right now there is only one positive review; apparently there were several before her appearance on Fox News), or all the negative reviews are being removed.

I am a bit sad and disgusted that, rather than take any sort of moral high ground, we get this. Gets attention but totally breaks the Amazon review system. Either they're going to lose business from several conspiracy nuts, or they're going to do away with the system entirely.

If I am looking at a book, I don't want to read 400-odd posts from people who clearly haven't read the material anyway, any more than I want a person on Fox News to review material for 400 minutes without having read this.

The only good thing about the Amazon attacks is that it's a major website and thus will get coverage of the event. Seriously, people should have taken their complaints to her personal website.

Why would you be surprised. I don't see any problem with it. The guy who shot his mouth off about it had no idea what the Hell he was talking about.

You mean you're OK with mass effect?

Of course. This contrived controversy is absolutely ridiculous. Report that, why don't you?

He's an odd fellow that man.
