Hey gang, miss you all, s'been a while.

So how much do you love art, live dj shows, break dancing, and drinking with cool art nerds? A lot? Killer. This announcement goes out to anyone in the Toronto area interested in checking out a live show in a very very interesting venue.

ART JAM

Place: Sheridan College; the Connexion bar

Time: 8:00pm-Midnight, on Friday the 28th

Price: Free

Wait, What's going on?: Basically, there's a bunch random stuff painted white (last time there was a bicycle, a PSX, a genesis, a bunch of appliances... this time I know there's at least an electric guitar) as well as a bunch of normal canvases set up, and everyone paints everything with the provided art supplies... including some models walking around in slim to none. There's also a band which will be performing, a break dancing set, a projector showing live photoshopping, and a decent amount of drinking.

But as if THAT wasn't cool enough; yours truly will be the DJ and my playlist will look something like this:

75% 'Mainstream with a beat' (everything from Daft Punk to Pendulum, Royskopp, Mr. Scruff, Boards Of Canada, Theivery Corporation, Aphex Twin and everywhere in between)

10% VGM (Jet Grind Radio, Brawl, Katamari Damacy)

10% VGRemixes (Skrypnyk, Rellik, Joshua Morse, GameBox, Nicole Adams)

5% Originals from within the vgm community (Tepid as Blue Satellite, Zircon, as well as other suprises)

Interested? Get a couple friends together and plan a road trip. I don't have tonnes of room for people to crash or anything but I promise it IS gonna be worth the trouble... I've been to two art jams so far and it's just about the greatest concentration of cool things you can imagine... the only thing that really sucks about it is that it's only 4 hours!

For those who can't make it, I should be recording the show and uploading it eventually... if all goes according to plan that is.

Hope to see you guys there!

Hey guys, coming up this Friday. Rayza? Skrypnyk? Was that a maybe? A yes? I can find you room to crash if you need it.

Anyone else have exclusive WIPs that might do well in a set like this? I can still feature a track or two (maybe) if they really want and it's not total shit.

In other news, I was worried I wasn't going to get any media since borrowing a second laptop was proving to be a bad idea. But I'm buying a new MP3 player expressly for capturing the concert... so unless things explode or something... it's pretty much definite.

Well it looks like the mp3 player world is straying from line-in ports. FUCK that. Anyway, I snagged a neat little voice recorder... it was the only portable electronic device in two stores WITH a line-in. At it's highest quality, it can record stereo at 128kbps for 8 hours... so that should do the trick.

Global-Trance; I got your mashups; I sent you a pm about them.

Skrypnyk, your friends? Are you bringing more than yourself? Please say yes...

my friends are my only source of transportation.

so they kinda have to come.

Meh, if they all hate to paint things just tell them to bring a DS. It is a college after all, you will be in youthful gamer company.

Also, I did a trial recording with the sound recorder... it picks up the line out from my lappy pretty well. So short of my new recorder going missing, or the mixing board (being rented today) not having a 1/4 inch out, I will have media for you all.

My roommate should be taking video, and there's always around 100 pictures floating around facebook.

Oh, and I'll be wearing my black OCR shirt. :-o

I'm not on there at all D:

but I suppose I wouldn't have fit anywhere actually. Sounds like a fun time. The whole thing with people coming up to talk to you after the set is a good feeling isn't it?
