Also IMO if you are looking for a synth you can get Zebra2 online for $160 right now:

With your style of music Zebra2 should be a nice fit IMO.

There is a thing at www.robpapen.com where if you buy Blue you get Albino3 for free. That's a def AWESOME deal.

Zebra 2 was voted the best softsynth of all time. It's amazing - get it :) Hans Zimmer swears by it, and even Daft Punk recently bought it. I know this because they both bought my Z2 presets collection.

i wanna like zebra more - with the 18 filters, x/y stuff, and drag and drop matrix but idk - the sound just isn't that inspiring for me - i know sylenth isn't that amazing but it just has a certain life to it to my ears - and i'm big fan of virus sounds

but congrats on the daft punk - that's crazy - you'll have to check their samples really closely :< so they're not stealing your thunder

i think i'll dl the demos and feel it out

Sylenth is definitely amazing in its VA abilities. It is really good for trance sounds - one of the best for that. However, Zebra is certainly a lot more competitive now thanks to version 2.3 and the 11x oscillator (so you can now get up to 44 saws in one patch.) If it's Virus sounds you're looking for though, Zebra is definitely your synth. People have actually made 1:1 banks of Zebra patches modeled after Virus ones. Just browse the u-he forum on KVR to see. Here's one example, the Virus "Overture" patch mocked up with Z2:

The main weakness of Zebra right now is its saturation/distortion modules which are better now for more subtle drives than really biting stuff. I have no doubt Urs is working on that, though.

i know that patch - pretty close

been messing with zebra (love your patches by the way) - not too impressed with the patches given - but it's deep and tweaking them is pretty unreal - but stupid intel - i gotta wait to get back on a pc to try sylenth before i make my final decision - atm i could go either way - but yeah, def looking for that bite

I don't know if Guitar Center is still having this sale, but to sweeten the deal... IK Multimedia is having a "buy one, get one free" event through the 31st of January. The best part? It doesn't matter where you purchase the product. Your choice of free product is immediately available to you after you register. I picked up Miroslav Philharmonik, then grabbed Sampletank XL for free. There are some other nice options like SampleMoog if you're into those classic Moog sounds, plus a bunch of guitar and bass Amp modeling software. It's definitely worth a look, I think.

This offer is good for any IK Multimedia Product registered between November 15, 2008 and January 31. Here is the flyer that explains everything http://cachepe.zzounds.com/media/MIC_PromoSheet-EXTPDF-3dc145e49c4b63163ff7ad19cf1ffb1a.pdf
