I hate when people say Robo's Theme is ripped off of Never Gonna Give You Up.

People tend to confuse "meshes well with" and "ripped off from" when it comes to music on the Internet.

Not everyone is at your level of musical expertise, alright DarkeSword? Some of us chose to take a different path in life. THAT DOESN'T MAKE US BAD PEOPLE.

HAVE SOME MERCY FOR GOD'S SAKE.

I'm not terribly familiar with it myself, but wasn't the entire DOOM soundtrack ripped off rock songs or something?

Yeah, Doom and Doom 2 consisted of popular rock and metal bands at the time. That's where the whole "Bobby Prince is a dirty thief" website came in and posted them all. I wonder if thats still up....

Since I've got a minute, I'll offer two interesting similarities I discovered a while ago.

------------------------------------------

Sonic Adventure 2 - Fly in the Freedom [Theme of Rouge] - 2001; brass arrangement, 3:31-fadeout

Brand New Heavies - Dream On Dreamer - 1994; brass arrangement, 2:05-2:26 and 2:46-fadeout

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrH6dUGHiTg

------------------------------------------

Sonic Adventure - Limestone Cave [icecap] - 1999

Swing Out Sister - Icy Cold as Winter - 1997

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA

Matthew Bellamy has said Bliss is his favourite song because it's got all these 80s arpeggios and keyboards on it which remind me of some music I heard on some children’s music programme when I was five. I think I ripped it off that. And that reminds me of when I was a bit simpler, a bit more of a pleasant state.[1]
Thanks wikipedia, I wonder if Mathhew Bellamy played top gear.

For someone who made such a lofty introduction on the newbie board, this is a rather mundane post...however, I found it interesting, perhaps you will as well:

I noticed a rather eerie similarity between the songs for Buoy Base Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy:

http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/wii/supermariogalaxy-floaterlandXGv1.mid

and the Crimean Army Sortie from SSBB/Fire Emblem:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPsXPAc_k5k&feature=PlayList&p=11C96F1C0DD828C8&index=5

For Buoy Base, the similar bit starts at around 00:50, and in Crimean Army Sortie it starts after the intro, or at 00:14.

The two melodies are nearly the same. Do they share the same composer? (the SMG one was composed by Mahito Yokota, according to my soundtrack; I have no idea who composed the Crimean Army Sortie or its original form)

Thoughts? Ideas?
