Wow, I just noticed that the only use of a period was in ".hack". Just saying.

I think there's an issue with the .hack series, namely that a lot of the music was made for the anime series, and not the games. The anime was the first of the overall continuity, if I recall correctly.

This would go against OCR standards for remixes, as only music made specifically for a game is allowed. Things like the Star Wars theme, even if it was used in several games, isn't valid, as it was made for the movies first.

Maybe someone will take pity on your pleas and whip one up for you quickly. It's happened before.

See, i knew that was people thought but thats the thing, the designers of the game(s) and the anime(s) thought of that which is why there are totally different OST for both the anime and the games. Each Cd's has about 20 tracks and none of them are the same from the anime OST. If you want you can check if you don't believe me or would you like for me to post links to the every Cd tracks list,

And people are supposed to understand you...how? I'm no grammar Nazi but wow! Fix this, and then we can talk about people who are up for making you a .hack mix. Think about this for a moment: you're asking someone to spend what could quite possibly be months using up all their mixing time on your little song, yet you wont even take the extra minute to make coherent sentence. Seems kind of selfish if you ask me.

As for the .hack games being out-of-bounds material for OCR, well I'd just have to flat out reject that notion. I haven't playing any of them, but I don't have to to know that they make up a sizeably larger chunk of the story then the anime, and that's as good an excuse as any to get some material up here.

That list might be better, as then remixers would be able to pick one they want.

Now, of course, is the idea of Leitmotifs. While there may be several songs with different titles, they may share a the same base melody. I don't know if that's really come up before, but it might be a problem.

YES i've been waiting for a remix of the .hack series! i don't know why everyone thinks the anime music and the game music is the same, because it is VERY different. the anime's music had a large celtic overtone while the game keeps that to a minimum and goes with a more techno approach.

thats the hard part, a lot of the song's don't have names. also, the background music for the "8 phases" and pretty much most the events is exactly that, leitmotifs. but there are still lots of different background music, ranging from dungeons to killer viruses and hackers on steroids.

however some of the ones that stood out for me were

1.the ending for the first 3 of the 4 original games

2.(phase 1) skeith: the terror of death's theme

3. balmung and the databug in the cathedral

4. the theme of cubia(the badass anti-cheat)

5. the death of mia and the birth of macha (i cried )

6. drain heart(the death of aura and morganna and the birth of the perfect AI aura) OR "the system decides to finally **** everyone over including itself and then fixes itself in the process"

here is a video of drain heart

yes the ending was cliche but i still daaaawwwww'd

Hope this isn't considered reviving a dead thread, but I would also love to see someone attempt this, the music from .hack has always captivated me. Granted I wil admit the game music isn't nearly as good as the music from the anime, however, .hack//G.U. did step up significantly in the music department and outdoes the first four games, IMO.

thats the hard part, a lot of the song's don't have names.

No offense, but that's completely wrong. If you're getting your tracklisting from blue laguna, yes, it would appear that way. But the tracks do indeed have names. I have every soundtrack to every .hack installment (anime, video game, etc) and I'm looking at the list now.

Also it should be noted if anyone decides to do this and DOES use bluelaguna.net to get their tracks, everything after track 68 (which is oh-so-wonderfully titled "bonus4" - really titled "Eight Hundred Significant Seasons Bonus Track .hack Mix") are sound effects or npc voices (like Grunties) used throughout the game. For this reason I omitted them from my soundtrack collection.

The tracks are organized by "type" - which is how they're named almost everywhere you look, instead of using the actual trackname.

http://dothack.wikia.com/wiki/GAME_MUSIC_Best/Perfect_Collection

This has a full track listing with names along with the corresponding "type".

I think if anyone has a shot at getting a good remix out of the first four games, they should use something from the following list:

Balmung's Entry and the Virus

Kubia's Birth

Kubia's Birth Recollection

Kubia - Stage One to Stage Three

Kubia Stage Four

Data Drain

Note all the Kubia tracks basically have the same tone to them, and sound really similar to each other, but also have their differences however small they may be.

As for .hack//G.U., well... the vocal tracks were always my favorite:

Shinjitsu no Yukue (The Whereabouts of Truth)

Yasashiku Kimi wa Hohoende Ita (You Were Smiling Gently / You Smiled Kindly)

Would these still be considered music from video games though? I guess the way I'm looking at them is like, Melodies of Life from FF9 or Eyes on Me from FF8 - tracks used in the game and on the soundtrack, but they're kind of on their own outside the actual game music (if that makes sense). The lyrics kind of make the songs, so I dunno what would be done about those if remixed.

Anyway, that's my two cents for now - I'd still love to see someone try something, but I also understand how it'd be pretty difficult to do anything with the music.
