Final Fantasy IX: Worlds Apart - History

Hello

I'm very sorry to I announce that I'm stepping down as the director of the FF9 project. When I started this project, I thought it would be something that brought everybody together to create one of the best album projects that this site has ever seen, but apparently some people had problems with the fact that I was running the project.

For the record, I think I do have the ability to direct a project like this but the lack of support from the whole community of remixers would make this difficult and possibly compromise the quality of the music. I've decided to continue with smaller projects for the time being which I hope people will join and support. For now I have chosen Fishy - who originally signed on as a third director - to continue as director. He has given his full support and assured me that he would give great care to this project.

I started this project because I wanted to make the greatest Final Fantasy 9 album imaginable. I will continue to support the project and I hope you all will do the same!

Best regards,

Brandon

There isn't a word about the sound you're going for, or on genre considerations in the first post.

Is that normal?

FF7, FF4, Radical Dreamers, Tales, Xenogears, Pokemon, DKC2.

These are most of the projects I've been on so far, at no point was I told to consider any specific style or theme so yeah, its perfectly normal. I will admit that the focus with newer projects is a bit more towards themed projects, and I think that's a good thing for the record. Oink didn't specify anything when he started it, and even if I disagreed it's too late to go 180 on that. Eh, I don't want to stop people doing what they do best.

Imo themed projects are mostly only possible small scale before the quality starts to suffer from lack of genre specialists (unless its something like baddudes with a more fun theme).

I couldn't agree more on the fact that projects with huge scale (3 discs or so) and genre constraint aren't the easiest to complete.

No matter how many willing and able musicians are around, you need to have both a strong direction and truly dedicated people to execute the concept flawlessly.

But yeah, it seems that most recent projects have some kind of genre-specific focus. So much that in fact, the freedom allowed in this one sounded kinda fishy.

The only rule I set when I started this project was that I didn't want any Chocobo Raps, or any kind of raps. If vocals were attempted, they'd have to be very well done, tasteful, and preferably T-rated (like the game).
