http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yf2WP6K1gQ&fmt=18 - The Cars "You Might Think"

- John Cougar Mellencamp "Hurts so Good"

- Styx "Mr. Roboto"

- Billy Idol "White Wedding"

- Billy Idol "Rebel Yell"

If you want to push the limit, anything from Pink Floyd's "The Wall." It was released at the end of '79.

And now for something completely different...

The world's most famous phone number

- Hold on Loosely

- 99 Luft Balons

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNT7uZf7lew - Down Under

It would be so easy for me to just say Queen, but that would cover more than just the 80's

Thank you! I was afraid no one would mention Weird Al.

Some of my favorites from the 80s include:

Oingo Boingo:

Dead Man's Party

Just Another Day

The entire "Good for your Soul" album

A-HA:

Take on Me

The Sun Always Shines on TV

Train of Thought

R.E.M.:

Radio Free Europe

Losing My Religion

Orange Crush

Various:

Lunatic Fringe- Red Rider

Men Without Shame- Phantom, Rocker, and Slick (This one is harder to find though)

Bottom Line- Big Audio Dynamite

Der Kommissar- After the Fire

Artists that had overall good stuff:

Thomas Dolby

Pet Shop Boys

Molly Hatchet

Peter Gabriel

Tears for Fears

ELO (Most of their good stuff is actually from the 70's though)

There's a lot more, but those are some of my top picks just looking through the music I have on playlists and stuff. Despite this though, I would still argue that Guns N' Roses "Appetite for Destruction" is still the best album of that decade, and beats out a lot of 90's albums too.

The Smiths - Ask

Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over

INXS - I Need You Tonight

Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence

Talking Heads - Psycho Killer

Genesis - That's All

Genesis - Mama

Phil Collins - Sussudio

Don Henley - Boy of Summer

Don Henley - Dirty Laundry (Youtube blocked this)

Don Henley - End of the Innocence

Also about this song, it's really stupid, but every time I play SH4 and you need to save Eileen, I think of this song. Not very good for the atmosphere.

Madonna - Papa Don't Preach

Roxette - The Look

Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill

Missing: MJ, REO Speedwagon, Peter Gabriel, a lot of songs from the artists I listed above, a bunch of random New Wave, and Hair bands I never liked much.

Oh and I'd link to Prince on Youtube... BUT YOU KNOW!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcEu47mR43U - Kix "Don't Close Your Eyes"

Had a few I was sure were at the end of the '80s, like "Love is on the Way" by Saigon Kick and

, but they're early '90s. They're both ballads and both quite nice, but too late.
