Music good enough to be VGM

Anything by joe satriani.

Instrumental music with an emphasis on catchy melodies. His music could be in any video game circumstances I reckon, his style of rock is quite diverse. He's actually got some tracks of his in video games iirc, but not much.

Also, Vince Dicola deserves a mention, Training montage would make great video game music.

I always thought "Closing In" by The Living End felt a lot like a medley from some unknown RPG. It begins with what might be random battle music, goes into a cave/dungeon theme, then to a boss/miniboss battle; finally finishing on the random battle music again. Pretty cool song too.

Isn't it better to flip that question around?

Jus' sayin'.

It's true man, music has taken that turn. Once upon a time VGM = bleeps, now games feature orchestral masterpieces and the radio is worse than an Atari soundtrack from 1977.
