No one see the Last Airbender

Trailers are meant to make you want to see the movie. Too bad they're so cliché and procedural these days, you can tell how good the movie will be based upon the trailer.

They show lots of good action bits? Guess what? They just showed all the action bits. Now you have nothing to be surprised by, you've seen the best parts.

They show all these tender, touching moments between the characters? Well, you know exactly how the movie is going to be now. They love each other, some jerk comes between them, jerk gets his come-upence, they get a happy ending.

Zombies? Everyone is fucked. Slightly funny zombies? Pretty much everyone is fine.

Yeah, trailers just... they just suck. A-Team, I knew what was going to happen. Transformers 1 and 2, called it.

Man, what happened to trailers that weren't just poorly condensed versions of the movie?

I like how it's the colored people in the movie who are oppressing the defenseless white people.

Take that, monsters.

M Night pulled off the greatest twist of all.

Best post of the thread.

Also, seriously, why the hell did they put 3D in this movie? Removing the 3D wouldn't salvage it, mind you, but still, there was absolutely no need to make an already bad product worse with the 3D.

HOLLYWOOD BAD! Stop with the gratuitous 3D already. It's gotten old.

Oh yeah, btw M. Night, when a freaking Twilight movie gets better ratings from serious critics than your movie (taken from WAY better source material), maybe it's time to hang up the director's cap.

how in the world did you know that SPOILER a tanker would explode and B.A. Baracus would piledrive the bad guy END SPOILER or any of Hannibal's wacky plans just from a trailer?

seriously now.

By having watched the original A-Team a lot? Aside from the blatant killing the new movie has, it's not that far off from the series.

Man, I miss that show now. Gonna go see if I can find it on DVD or something.

if you've seen the original A-team a lot (as have I), then of course you know what's gonna happen: they're gonna get crap done and look awesome doin it. So duh you'd know whats gonna happen.

I don't see how you got that from the trailer is the thing

yeah i'm nitpicking

I never said I hated them, I just said they give too much away. Even the old ones from the 60s and 70s, which were often upwards of seven minutes in length, weren't as bad. There used to be this odd show in TV where they would show old movie trailers from back then.

A more modern one I liked would be Casino Royale. Not too revealing, with a decent balance of "here's what you can expect" and "not giving everything away".

But yeah, trailers just give too much away these days. The only thing that's worse is the trailer that shows absolutely nothing, and expects you to still want to see it.

No one I knew enjoyed the movie. I haven't seen it yet. I keep hearing rumors and internet posts that people booed when the credits rolled.

Bad times M. Night Shalammasomething.

I kind of want to see this movie in the same way I kind of want to watch the recent Dragonball and Street Fighter movies. Absolutely riveting for all the wrong reasons... like looking at a traffic accident or the aftermath of a natural disaster. I mean, it's not everyday that we get absolute gems of awful. It cleanses the palate. Let's your appreciate the good stuff a little bit more, savor the flavor. It's like a marinade of meh giving more taste to the seasoned tenderloin of better films.

It's all good. On that note, I need to watch the Avatar TV series. -_-' Apparently the youngins claim it's the bee's knees.

Brushfire was going to try to get me to watch this with some folks at SGC tomorrow night. Now I'll tell him the only way he can get me to go is if we Riff the ever-loving crap out of it. In our speedos.

I've heard from some people that the series was pretty good. I've also heard that M. Night Schnablahbludan should stop making movies. I can't remember anyone saying anything good about any of his movies besides Sixth Sense. Signs was trite (even though I enjoyed some of the tension he created), The Village was retarded in retrospect, and I had no urge to see anything else he made.

No, you should definitely watch The Happening. It's hilarious. I can't think of a movie that provided more laughs in recent memory.
I'm not really one of those "laugh at its badness" type of people unless I'm watching Mystery Science Theater (or am with people who can make it appreciable in the same way).

The review on IMDB  (5.1/10 btw)

"I went to see the Midnight showing of The Last Airbender tonight. I am a huge fan of the series and had been awaiting this movie for months. I understood that this was to be a children's movie, but the series was for children as well and I loved that. What could go wrong? This movie was a cinematic abomination. The entire movie, which covers the first "Book" of the series is rushed together and jumps around in a totally nonsensical manner. There is absolutely NO time spent on characterization. None of the characters had any depth at all and may as well have been cardboard cutouts. Major plot points are summarized through narration or montage and the film would leave any person not familiar with the story absolutely dumbfounded. With all of my heart I discourage you from seeing this movie. Go see Karate Kid. Go see Killers. Go see (I cannot believe I am saying this) Eclipse. Just stay away from this movie"
