The People's Remix Competition 182

Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

PRC181 is done: Congratulations Ichitootah.

It's time for PRC182, an anniversary edition. It's a special edition again. Ichitootah may choose the source for PRC183. After a year, time for some statistics again.

- This season, PRC has 19 different winners (one more as last year), out of 25 rounds (some with double winner).

- Again, OneUp was the winner most times, 5 times in total (last year 3).

- 29 Different remixers entered (5 less as last year).

- OneUp entered most times, 9 if I'm correct, including Bonus mixes (last year Just64helpin was most time participants with 10 Mixes).

- In PRC164, four remixers entered who only entered that round this year.

- Showroom Dummy was the only one who entered more rounds as one and won all the rounds he participated (excluding Bonus Mixes).

- OneUp (5), Showroom Dummy (3) and JerryTerry and Bundeslang (2) are the only remixers who won more rounds as one.

- Of course, Bundeslang only won rounds where he was the only participant (excluding Bonus Mixes).

- This year, 55 songs appeared (last year 94 excluding PRC156!!), 8 of them where Bonus Mixes (also 8 last year).

- 11 PRCs where decided without voting stage, in 3 of them, one Bonus Mix was submitted.

It's the anniversary edition. Like last year, it's a free round. Zelda, Mario, Megaman, Final Fantasy, Monopoly, Duck Tales, Godzilla; everything is allowed. Non OCR songs are encouraged, but you don't get bonus points if you pick a source which has been remixed before at Ocremix (or PRC). There's only one restriction: the song you pick has to be a VG tune and it's obligated to tell which source you used (game - theme - console).

There's one way to get 3 bonus points:

Remix a song in the Remix Requests Thread.

To make sure nobody is going to cheat (by posting requests), you can only pick a request which has been posted before october 31st. It doesn't matter if the song's in a different style or if you did the request by yourself. You must post a link to the thread with the song.

I'm not very strict in this, so it someone requests a game, any song of that game is fine (but post a link to the thread!!). If you're not sure, but want to remix a request, pick one of the above or post it in this thread so I can take a look at it.

A hint for searching requests: sort them by thread.

Of course, you may remix another song, but you don't get the bonus points.

Free Round - Free Theme

It's the second time PRC has a free source selection for everyone (last year as well). This means you can do anything you want, but it has to be a VG-tune. Song picks don't make restrictions for following PRCs, all sources which are used in this round are selectable for next PRCs except tunes with an Ocremix.

Make sure you read the rules carefully

The winner may select a source which will be used in PRC184, that round will have two sources.

Fine Print:

PRC instructions

  1. You may remix any song you want, but it must be a VG Remix.
  2. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed.
  3. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by THURSDAY November 18th at 3:59 am ThaSauce time (Check my signature (below) and the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. .
  4. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix.
  5. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted.
  6. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score.

Yay, the anniversary round! I'll have to try to participate.. I don't have internet at home at the moment though, so hopefully I remember and can get online on time. On the other hand, less distractions. =)

Good idea/theme for the round, the requests! I think I'll try to do Traffic Department 2192.. lot of transcribing to do!

Thanks for organizing again this year, Bundeslang. Those were some cool statistics, too!

Apparently the ability to upload entries on compo:thasauce is broken and won't be fixed for a while, so here's my entry:

"Short Fuse"

Description: What if Bomberman reggaeton... had lyrics? Thanks to B-Type for the raps.

That link doesn't work as well. Try to upload somewhere else.

The song is in, voting won't start before I have this song (if that doesn't take years:mrgreen:).

I extended the deadline again, with one day.

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. After several extentions, 3 entries are submitted.

To vote, you should do the following:

- Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries

- Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen.

- Fill in the rank of the entries from first to third.

- State a reasoning for it.

- Participants are encouraged to vote. They aren't allowed to vote for themselve, but they receive an added first place if they vote. They only must fill in their top 2, leave the third box empty.

You have until NEXT Saturday, November 20th at 9:59 am ThaSauce time to vote, check my signature in the first post or simply the ThaSauce page for the exact time you have.

It's short, so make sure to vote fast.

The winner gets the right to choose the source tune for PRC184 which starts Friday 3 December. PRC183 has already started, so you can start remixing for that round.

JerryTerry claims 8 points and gets the last place wooden spoon

Showroom Dummy was close, but 11 points is only one point away from the victory.

You may select any source from any game, as long as it doesn't have an Overclocked Remix and it hasn't been on PRC before (it doesn't matter if the source has been remixed on PRC156 or PRC182). Check it at the list:
