The latter thought is almost synonymous with Deus Ex. You can almost hear the mesh of the iconic piano riff and rhythm guitar strumming from U2's classic rock, er, classic and the synthesizer strains from the theme of Warren Spector's magnum opus (since System Shock, anyway).
