Japan's notion of sexuality is quite alien to the rest of the world, historically they have always had a strong emphasis on "domination" in their erotica [case in point, the ritual semen bath AKA "bukkake"], and it still carries over today, which in the age of the internet where the entire world can take notice and learn of other cultures, there's so many "lol japan" things on the internet.

But yes you need some historical context to figure out why Japan markets things like Battle Raper 2, and I don't have enough fingers on my hands to count all the pornographic anime out there where in 3 episodes or less, the entire thing is about forced sex and seriously about 99% of the time, the girls develop stockholm syndrome and end up enjoying it by the time the short OVA is over.

When someone thought up that game, they must've been thinking something like this.

This is a little off topic but it got my wondering. If someone remixed a song from one of those games, and they did it well, could it actually pass? Would OCR wanna be associated with that? I haven't really played those games but I do know about the music of AIR and Kanon from the (mostly not perverted anime). They did make All Ages versions of those games so maybe that could help.

But I don't see anyone remixing those any time soon anyway, I'm just speculating.

If they were ported to the Pico, I'd do a ReMix

We've seen this weak and pointless argument play out a thousand times by now. Video games cause X, and therefore are bad.

I play GTA. I don't go out and carjack people, get involved in shootouts, use drugs, drink to excess, pick up hookers, etc. But I do all of those things in the game.

I also can't remember the last time I raped someone in real life, but I know I've engaged in sexual situations in some games. Actually, the reason I can't remember raping anyone in real life is because I never have.

If you can't separate fantasy from reality, that is a problem that is unrelated to video games, movies, or any other outside influence. It doesn't matter what the medium is. The only thing that's relevant is the fact that people don't take responsibility for their own actions, and foolish politicians point the finger of blame at something else so as not to blame the electorate.

You see, that's the thing that all these experts like to ignore, or aren't even thinking about: video games have been around for the better part of thirty years now (maybe longer if you want to count the old arcade systems of the 70s), in pretty much every part of the world, and played by just about every culture, nationality and both genders and all ages since then.

And yet, how many cases are there that are actually caused by popular culture of any kind?

The most violent places in the world aren't the ones that have lots of violent content, they're the places where wars and genocide have been going on and off for decades or even centuries.

Even if you only limit the scope to the US, you still have tens of millions of people of all kind of demographics that enjoy these forms of entertainment, and yet only a tiny percentage of them are involved in crime of any kind, and even then, how much of it is violent crime? What other factors are there that could explain their behavior? "Oh, sorry, we don't do studies about other factors. We're only concerned about the ones we're looking at right now" seems to be the trend today.

And of course, to make it really suck bit more, all the real shit that causing all the trouble is being ignored because the media reports this bullshit over actual news.

I don't see why not, assuming the source and remix meet the criterion and standards, of course. It'd provide djp with an excuse to share his views in these games and the controversy about them in a writeup. And it'll attract attention. The kind of attention depends on his views, of course.

I mean, I can air my appreciation for various medieval statues without saying we should base any dress codes on them.
