I'm happy to announce that Canada-based indie game developer Firestarter Games has released their first title, Globulous, for iPhone and iPad! This is a puzzle game in the style of the classic N64 game Tetrisphere. Drag and drop blocks on a 3D multilayered sphere to get combos and create a hole to the center. With over 40 levels, achievements and timed challenges, it's an awesome 99 cent brain teaser whether you have 2 minutes or 20.

Also, did I mention it has a 45+ minute original soundtrack with music and SFX by myself and Jeff Ball? We were inspired by both retro NES/SNES classics like Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy VI as well as modern soundtracks like Bastion and Machinarium. I'm extremely proud of our work here and I think it will blow you away, especially for a mobile game soundtrack.

Let me know what you think of the game and its music!

I won't be able to pick up the game, most likely, but boy am I digging the soundtrack! Great blend of moods, strong hooks, and some great violin from Jeff on those collab tracks.

Was 'Coccoon Altitude' the WIP you were working on in that live stream awhile ago? It also sounds similar to 'Photosynthesis' from Fittest, so I may just be making connections in odd places, heh.

If this is even half as good as the soundtrack for Return All Robots, then it would still be a must-buy. My $$$ is your $$$ once I get back from my honeymoon in a couple of days.

Is there a recording of that livestream available anywhere?? I meant to watch it when you had scheduled it, but I think I ended up playing video games instead. Oopz.

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, the game can be a little tricky if you haven't played Tetrisphere, but it's definitely addicting once you get the hang of it. I haven't even come close to beating it yet... gets pretty hard later. I do have a recording of my livestream where I was working on the track "Cocoon Altitude":

Really proud of this one :D :D :D

Thanks for putting this on my radar. I LOVED Tetrissphere back in the day. Bought it on a whim and it gave me an experience I didn't expect. Part of what made it so awesome is its soundtrack which pushed the n64 to its limits and beyond. It was just that damn good and catchy. Smart of the developers to recruit you for this OST as you can push in styles similar to what Tetrissphere offered. Going to check it out ASAP.
