Last round four songs and 1 bonus mix where submitted. Adge made his PRC debute and ended up with 8 points. FreakyT and DrumJ8 could'n stop MindWanderer who claimed victory. The first game I ever played that actually had a soundtrack was Pitfall 2 on the Atari 2600. Granted, it was really only one song, but that song was catchy! And on top of that, the music actually told a story: when Harry died, the music became slow and sad; when he picked up a pile of gold, it became happy and energetic. There are earlier examples of "real" video game music (not just ambient sound and effects), but I consider Pitfall 2 to not only be a milestone in game music, but to be the source that made me first realize that video game music was a Thing. I apologize for the poor quality of the YouTube source; it's the only one I could find that didn't truncate the beginning, didn't include jumping noises, and wasn't played on an off-key emulator. You can find others on Youtube. Similarly, the MIDI below is the only one I found that combines the opening music with the ongoing music; there are others on vgmusic.com (including the "sad" variant). Bundeslang Posted March 18, 2013 Author Share Posted March 18, 2013 I just realized that the ThaSauce time is one hour ahead of the normal situation, so there's one hour `extension' to keep the timing equal with my time zone. To vote, do the following: - Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries - Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen. - Fill in the rank of the entries from first to second. Leave the third box empty. - State a reasoning for it. - Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they do not win or lose any points by voting, since they cannot vote for themselve but get a free first place bonus if they vote. So non participants are encouraged to vote and leave comments. Last round winner, MindWanderer, has a vote that counts twice. DrumJ8 was very close to win, but his 12 points are just not enough for the win. He still gets the last place wooden spoon. And the winner of PRC240 is FreakyT with 13 points. Congratulations FreakyT. It was a close call, but the double vote of MindWanderer helped you to beat DrumJ8 with one point. Both of you did a great job. I'm also happy with the number of voters. In most cases rounds with two songs ended up with one or two votes, but this time four people voted who didn't enter the round. FreakyT, you may select the source for the next round.
