OCRA-0007 - Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Blood on the Asphalt

Recommended Posts

Well, I had a look around on google, and this was the closest I could find. It's just a blog, and not very in depth...and in german...

Here's what google translator spewed out:

After the two CDs introduced here now a further rem ix-collection is into the hands pleases with: Completely unnoticed a rem ix-project has itself named Blood on the bitumen - A super Street Fighter 2 turbo ReMix collaboration on ocr-mixes. That is naturally a double must for me: on the one hand degrees projects are always good, on the other hand one and remains Street Fighter II turbo is my favourite flogging play (still before internationally Karate+) - however explicitly I do not know the SNES version, the new characters at all…

Which I heard so far (still am I not completely through) sound already times good (present favorites: Sagat and M.Bison). At the throne of Relics OF the Chozo cannot scratch this project however.

...Wasn't that review glowing?!

Anyhow, I'll keep looking for a while, and post some links if I find them.

Listening to my track again, I've suddenly realized that all the processing I put on the vocals caused them to sound like I'd recorded them on a sub-par mic, and thrown on some reverb...which is unfortunately not true....or the desired effect. :(

This was kind of love/hate album for me. Certain ones I adore (namely Army Girl, I Don't Fight Boys, and Mercenary Boxing), but the others..... not so much. I like the Guile's stage one, but my main grievance with it is the Zelda music bit at the end. It kind of kills it. I figured it was some artist tag or something that the remixer did, but it just shouldn't have been there.

I don't know what made trenthian choose that name either.

Better later than never. I mean... I've heard the entire album when it was released, but only got to actually listen to some tracks few weeks ago. My bad. In any case, let me see what this project got.

I really like the Blanka collab; it starts with some cool drum beat, which after a few seconds gets heavier and nice. The sounds used here are all smooth and I think the flute sequencing is savagely awesome. 'Wallstreet' had nothing to do with the original in my opinion, since his stage was quite a jungle. Maybe it was named that way in purpose to make it more urban and so fit with the project standards.

Chun-li got a wonderful song. Lovely piano programming from Caio, decent mechanical percussion by Malcos (correct me if I am wrong, I think it was Malcos who did the drum job because it sounds like it was him). This is one of my favourite tunes of this album and honestly the best musical collab I've heard. Never gets tired, loop status activated. Good job.

I recall listening an earlier version of Vurez's T. Hawks Stage on WIP boards. And I see he included those mexican choirs in this final step. I absolutely love this mix. There's nothing like this in the community, which is great and make it authentic. Reminds me of Outlaws Soundtrack and of course Ennio Morricone compositions, but I also think it is good for its own reasons.

Yoga Fire! Nice Dhalsim mix. Instead of just making key changes, Malcos firstly showed his melodic creations and did a pretty cool fusion with urban scratches, east percussion, indian sitar... all that cool stuff. Certainly did justice with the source. I made a short animation of him dancing this song. See below.

Looks like he is enjoying it.

I really wish Da Joker finished his Ken mix and so it could be a part of the project; he did something I've never heard in a Ken song. Anyhow, I am very impressed by Sixto's version; his guitar leads to be more accurate. They're so damn cool. Personally I prefer his own melodies instead of the parts of the original. Those around 03:28 are especially delicious.

Oh. Wow. Congrats to Marcos for the great guitar work into AkumajoBelmont's song. This is what Ryu's Stage would sound if it was on the SNES, but used live leads on it. Bombastic orchestral hits and retro synth drums... yeah! Like some Capcom music for the SNES. So enchanted stereo field too. Really, really well done, sirs!

Neat pads, hot slap bass, soft beats, wind noises... different textures and colors describes Urban Uppercut. It is a very polished track, clean production, doesn't hurt the ears. Good ending. I am a big fan of bLiNd's stuff. Unfortunately never heard of Leifo; I suppose going for a search cannot hurt... I will do it.

First Guile Ending: <3 Loved it.

So yeah. There were some tracks I didn't like, but overall it is a good album. Actually, I tried to arrange a song to be a part of this, which never happened. Well... at least I've improved my skills while working on it.

I am a fanboy, Shael. And I love you.

Don't know if you guys already knew, but UDON put up a SSFIITHDR vid highlighting some of the tougher combos you can do in the game. It's done to the Fei Long track, "flying heaven." You can see it at http://vimeo.com/2180653

And second, whoever manages the albums page on OCR (http://www.ocremix.org/info/Albums), would you guys mind putting up the album art I did to represent BOTA? Thanks a lot, guys.

and thank you and congratulations to EVERYONE who worked on this album. you guys made video game history and you should be extremely proud of that fact!

just wanted to give a quick update/bump.

IGN posted a video interview of SSFIIHDR and mentions OCRemix in a quick blurb.

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/900198/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/videos/SSFII_HD_Review112008.html

and written review here: http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/932/932803p1.html

Could someone that downloads this game possibly post a screenshot of the credit for OCRemix(if any)?
