its a saw, 2 saws(each saw having 2 voices of its own) detuned Slightly,

and phased for both saws with small reverb, what synth do you use and i can help you.

Ah right, nice, thanks.

Well I don't have a synth, I just have a midi controller and wanted to know how I could replicate it with synth VST's and shizz. I've yet to find many decent free ones.

I'm looking for a little help in making some dubsteppy bass sounds, but they're a little different than the sounds I typically hear in that they're not quite as harsh and they're a little smoother (but they still have some edge). Something like this:

I'm using Logic's ES2 so I doubt I'll be able to replicate it exactly, but something pretty close maybe? I've followed some tutorials but the sounds I'm getting are a little too harsh and a little broader/wider than I'd like ('cause I'm not really trying to write dubstep). To my ear it seems like this is sorta similar to a Reese bass but I could be wrong, and I also don't really know how to get a Reese bass going anyway...

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Hi, i'm looking for an effect, or even a particular way, to fade in a track. I'm fairly certain its an EQ effect, but i'm not sure how to go about doing. Or if there is a vst that will do it for me. Here's an example. Pay no attention to the song, i just like metal and its the first song i could think of off the top of my head to show what i'm talking about. :D

Please let me know, cause i've been wanting to figure this out for some time now and can't get my head around it. Thanks guys!

Sounds like they're slowly opening (raising the cutoff freq.) a low-pass filter with high resonance set over the master track. Some sort of auto-pan or phaser thing might be on it, too. Possibly both. That's what it sounds like to me, anyway. Hard to tell exactly what's going on when I don't know what the unprocessed sound they use in the beginning is...

The sound that's fading is just a drum beat playing a few measures. I hear the phaser too along with the filter, but i guess i'm specifically looking for how to fade in the EQ like that. I wish i could think of a better example. I believe in techno they use this effect sometimes.

haha, i actually tried some of those tutorials out before i made the post - they didn't quite get me the sound i was looking for but they were good anyway. thanks, though, i appreciate it.

i ended up finding a sound that's sorta close to the one i wanted by setting up a reese bass-ish sound with the es2 and then modulating the cutoff, but i'm having a weird issue with it. i can't tell if it's at regular intervals or not, but the sound occasionally has these loud spikes in the lower frequencies that really push the volume of the track up. i'm not really sure what's causing it (the sound is pretty much just 3 detuned saw waves), but if anyone has any advice, that'd be awesome. thanks!

Lil' contribution:

http://www.flstudiomusic.com/

Found it not too long ago... There may be some questionable sounds in this website, but they also offer a huge amount of free plugins, samples and HQ soundfonts!

"High Quality Soundfonts" search option has some cool ones, by the way ;P

Great stuff here - should really come in handy too.

I just got into using FL Studio, but all I have to use are two soundfonts. They are good, but I'd like to start expanding my sound library as quickly as possible. Would anyone by chance be able to find some sounds that resemble the ones in this tune (and if anyone is familiar with the entire soundtrack, those songs too?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTW5Y5d0pSY

I'm also having much more difficulty finding decent realistic orchestral soundfonts than I expected. Ultimately I'd like to make some rock/orchestral songs, such as this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unwvI_3uWl0 or this one: (which is more rock oriented) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hlLW-IdB7o&NR=1 I would love it if I could have sounds like that to use.

Looking forward to responses. Thanks.

i tryed that :( maybe i should make the 3x a high octave saw...........OMG THANKS MAN, you gave me the brain blast to get this sound :)

Yeah there's definitely high frequency content with dubstep bass. Glad I could help! I haven't actually completed any pieces yet (only messed around with the wobble) but I like to draw in the filter cut off instead of using something like a tempo synced LFO. More time consuming, but a lot more customizable.

I'm still not very good at this sort of things, I'm trying to learn it on my own.. I don't really wanna be a burden to somone, so I think I won't collab.. but Thanks for the software, I'll see if there's a demo version of it
