Music Software and Hardware Deals

Recommended Posts

Share deals on DAWs, VSTs, sample libraries, apps, instruments, MIDI controllers, etc. here.

Some guidelines:

  • Explain why you recommend the product and explain why it's a good deal; don't just drop a link with some ad-copy. No drive-bys.
  • Indicate how long the deal will be available if you can; once the deal is over, edit your post and mark the deal as expired.
  • This thread is not a feed for off-site content, i.e. don't just post a daily/weekly/monthly link to a deals website.

Thanks.

Why does it have to recommended or explained why it's a good deal, though? Usually when people take the time to post a deal on somewhere like here, it's a recommendation by definition. 70% off a VST or that Xpand!2 that's only $1 for a short period of time are also self-explanatory why they're good deals.

Not trying to be difficult, I just don't understand that guideline/requirement. Some clarification would be good should I feel moved to share noteworthy and obscure deals that I find around.

@Meteo Xavier I think this thread is simply trying to be more substantial than the last one, where it devolved into vstbuzz posting their deal every week. It's more convincing to go for something if a community member/ReMixer actually says "this is really cool instrument that I like and it's super cheap right now" rather than it just being like a weekly deal newsletter from a retailer.

Hey there! Very sorry about that - I've just had a look and it was pretty much 100% "VSTBuzz deal of the week" in that thread which is not cool. We sort of saw it to be a little bit like the KVR "Bargain Center" thread, but as nobody else was participating it sort of came across as us just spamming which is what we definitely don't want.

So once again, we're very sorry about this and we won't post anymore updates as it definitely does come across as more than a little bit spammy on our part! Thanks

Sure, no worries. Like I said, if you're interested in doing some kind of ad-buy on OCR, we're open to that discussion. We recently nixed Google ads on the site in favor of using those banner placements to promote OCR related things, but Larry and I have been tossing around the idea of getting community-relevant ads for products and services we actually believe in. Still gotta run things by djpretzel but if you're interested send an email over to admin@ocremix.org.

https://www.kvraudio.com/news/4front-truepianos-40-off-35312

A physically-modeled piano VST I've been using for years, on genres like cinematic, jazz fusion, and classical. Includes six piano models with over 8 distinct presets each. I think 40% off is a pretty good deal for this---it would be for most VSTs. Available through December 31, 2016.

It is almost Thanksgiving in the United States, and that means black Friday sales are starting to appear.

PreSonus Studio One is half-off on every version. You need a code that they provide to you. It goes until Nov. 28th. When Fl 12 came out, several people jumped ship to S1. (FL 12 got a lot better when patches came out, in my opinion) I think S1 is a sharp and fun DAW.

Ableton is taking 20% off just about everything until Jan 11th. I recently took a Mooc class on Live 9, and enjoyed using their DAW. Their Push educational initiative helped me start a music technology club with my middle school students.

Sweetwater has some nice black Friday deals in general all-week, but they managed to get better deals on izotope products than izotope's main website... I personally like izotope, although it is a resource draining plugin.

Cinematic Strings 2 is on sale until the 28th as well. I love this string library! They also have their new string library on sale as well.

I am sure there are others, but this is what I have seen so far.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I should mention that almost anything I put up here are deals that my professors at school are finding and sharing with the students in my program. Anyway, here we go:

-- Waves is already beginning their sales, for today and tomorrow only. DAWBuster deals is a pretty dumb name, but the only thing I'm going to complain about is not actually having money to buy anything...

For those who don't know, Waves plug-ins are industry-leading in quality of sound... And with the price to match. If you have the resources to purchase Waves products, I envy you greatly.

-- iZotope sales are beginning. Notably you can get a copy of the DDLY delay for free with a purchase of the Trash 2 distortion effect for $29. I personally find DDLY to be a little wonky (but still usable - I should probably use it more than I do), but free is free.

-- Impact Soundworks is having a discount sale on several of their kontakt libraries, including the Super Audio Cart library (the one developed in conjunction with OCR). All their libraries are a blast to use and they're probably the developer that most of my sample library purchases are made with.

We live in a time of many, many great deals on modern VSTs and libraries and yet our old version of the music deals thread is long since buried and resting with our Lord. This thread shall be its successor.

Please feel free to post any deep discount music VST stuff you hear of or find that would be relevant to the community. Preferably focus more on deals that are more than 35% off and music instruments as opposed to music effects/production VSTs since those are much more subjective than instrument samples and just harder to get excited about, in a blunt way of speaking.

Some beginning deals worth sharing for anyone interested:

Miloslav Philharmonik 2 CE - $39.99.
Expiration Date: Not listed, unknown.

Premier Performance Bundle by AKAI/AIR Music Technology - $89.99
Expiration Date: August 9th

Abstrung 1&2 Bundle by Audiofier - $15.00
Expiration Date: July 31st

8Dio's having 2 weeks' worth of flash sales to celebrate their anniversary with a new featured product every 48 hours.  I think they're only a few days in - Epic Taiko Ensemble was directly before Rhythmic Aura, so there should be 5 more sales on the way.  Definitely keep your eye out, 8Dio makes great stuff

EDIT:  Also going to include my personal favorite library for lead strings (does both agile and flowing lines very, very well), also from 8Dio.  An absolute steal at $44 - https://8dio.com/instrument/grandiose-violins-bundle/

I know a lot of people aren't super into royalty-free sample-phrase based libraries, which I think is ridiculous, but this is worth posting:

Black Octopus - 8 packs for $8.00 Sale
Expiration Date: 24 hour sale, though I'm not entire sure what hour it started.

The Impact Soundworks Ventus Ethnic Winds collection is on sale for 70% off right now!

There's 5 wind products here, the Tin Whistle, Bansuri, Shakuhachi, Panflutes, and Ocarinas. They all have true legato and tons of ornaments to get some really articulate performances. Don't sleep on it.

It'll be over in 2 weeks (until 8/22 11:59PM).

Not a software or music deal in the same vein as others, per se, but I highly recommend someone pick this up all the same:

https://reverb.com/item/14615120-roland-xv-5050-used

This is seriously probably the best ROMpler Roland ever made and DEFINITELY the best you can get for $100. This thing has JV1080, JV2080, D50, XV, GM and Fantom sounds in it. This unit alone has 1,000+ sounds with samples that are still very usable today AND all of them come out in .WAV quality sampling, which is actually a step-up from its more popular predecessor the XV-5080. If I didn't already have one, I'd scramble to get it.

I can't say enough good about the XV5050. I love this machine so much that I'd probably have sex with it if I thought I could. :P
