Hi,

I worked on this based on the feedback and made changes to the structure of the song in order to make it less stale and at the same time, make it build up over time. Most instruments were rerecorded and I completely reworked the mix to address the production problems mentioned in feedback. I'd like to give a huge shoutout to Juan Medrano (Sixto Sounds) and Corno Porno DiGiorno (John Stacy) for helping me out with learning how to actually produce something.

Ooooh, I remember this one - it's the track with that weird detuned guitar in the beginning. Comparing against the old version this is so much better in terms of mixing and production: the bass is nice and healthy, the drums are mixed great, and nothing gets washed out. I give Sixto & John Stacy 100% props for giving you some solid advice, since this really rose to the challenge we presented some time ago.

The performances are a little on the loose side of things, with the lead guitar sometimes not landing on the beat when it's supposed to, but it's not something that'll prevent this from being posted, either - just be aware of the issue and improve your performance technique for next time around. :)

I notice the time difference between the two - this version being about 40 seconds shorter than the other one. I can't say I noticed what was cut too much, so it must not've been significant - nice job on trimming the fat a bit.

Yeah, I liked the idea before, and I think the execution is great this time around. Thanks for giving it another go - here's hoping to see you on the front page soon!

Much better!  The (reduced) repetitions have some additional flair thrown in, and the re-equalization helps those little touches stand out better.  IMO, the overdriven sections could still stand to be a smidge cleaner, especially in the climax (3:30-3:53), but it's within tolerance.  I'd also have loved it if the cymbals were varied up more--they're used almost like a kick here, and the repetitive, ceaseless white noise-like sound cuts out a lot of the breathing room that those dueling guitars need.  A little sad that some of the original writing got cut, but it would taken a lot of work to fix and it's probably for the best.

I'm also hearing an audio artifact at 1:11, a sort of beep/squeak noise.  That should be cleaned up, although I'm not sure it worth bumping this down to a Conditional.

If this does get sent back, my #1 request would be to mix up those cymbals, but otherwise I think this is good enough.

I didn't hear the original submission so my vote is on this version.  This is a source tune I adore, but I'm not sure this remix approach is working so well.  The track has two very distinct vibes that are sandwiched together and the transitions are minimal.  I'm not a fan of the lead guitar panning back and forth.   The drum writing plods and feels super simplistic and at times the groove feels quite awkward and forced.  The arrangement itself feels repetitive and choppy and it drags on for four minutes.  The performance is loaded with timing errors in the guitars and drums.  Good luck with the rest of the vote and I'm sorry to come down so hard on this but this track doesn't feel ready for prime time to me.

Sounded lo-fi, as well as panned too widely during the choruses. That said, the bassline and drumming was more creative and varied, and that's mainly what I needed to lend some dynamics to the piece.

The machine gun kicks from 3:26-3:54 still felt buried, and I'm not sure what the point was if they weren't going to be heard more, BUT I'm not sure I would have liked them with more presense, so we'll take it.

The lead guitar work still felt stilted as well, but the other surrounding elements being more varied and creative helped that stilted timing sound more like an intentional stylistic choice for the song's performance.

Solid work, and a good bump up in overall quality for the resub, Daniel!

I'm coming in blind on this one, but overall this has an interesting gritty texture throughout that definitely feels a little weird knowing the character this was based off of. That being said it's kinda neat to hear this so wildly styles away from the original. I was worried that the piece would drag on forever, and while I think the first half runs a little slow, the second half has a lot of details that really make a difference. There's a good deal of personalization and neat runs that embellish the track well.

Overall I'm good to go on this one, though the first half of the track does take a while to get rolling and brought my vote closer to a borderline. Nice work overall though.

YES (borderline)
