Did a remix in 2 hours.  2 Hour compo WIN!!.... Oh wrong compo.  Oh well, it's not bad for something done in 2 hours imo.  But I might re-work some of the E/Q shit as I just kinda did it on the master mix...not ideal, but brickwall sound isn't necessarily a bad thing so long as not too much clipping.

EDIT...yeah the mix is ass.  Gonna re-work that a tad, but I AM participating - I'll replace the file when I get a chance.

  • 2 weeks later...

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 3 songs. The following people compete against each other

Flurry of Flames

Hoboka

Silverpool

(if you want a different color, let me know by replying or sending me a PM).

To vote, do the following:

·       Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries.

·       Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM.

·       Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 3.

·       State a reasoning for it.

·       Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, they get a free first place if they vote, so it might help. Non participants are encouraged to vote to decide the winner and leave comments.

·       Dex has a vote that counts twice.

·       Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results. Especially since some people might vote by sending me a PM.

You have until THIS Monday, December 4th 9:59 AM ThaSauce time (17:00 UTC, 18:00 GMT) to vote. Note that this is one hour shorter as usual.

If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 (or top 2 for participants) is clear. I prefer something like this:

PRC ### Vote

(Message):

1: (remixer A )

2: (remixer B )

(reasoning)

I will post the feedback given in the PM’s and the votes in this thread. The winner may choose the source tune for PRC354.

Check the ThaSauce Page to vote or click here to send a PM.

Results time.

Silverpool got 11 points and last place wooden spoon.

Flurry of Flames collected 15 points, enough to get second place.

And the winner of PRC362 is Hoboka with 16 points.

Hoboka congratulations. It was close, but well deserved. You may pick a source for PRC365. The winner of next round (PRC363) also gets the right to pick a source for this round. Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as fast as you can, but before next Monday (18 December 2017), 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).

You may select any source for any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links:

Vote by Flurry Of Flames:

PRC 362 vote

1. Hoboka

2. Silverpool

I really enjoyed Hoboka's remix when it ventured out away from the source tune as not only was it creative but I felt I could feel what he/she was trying to express and how they went about doing it. The instrumentation for the second half with piano was awesome as everything seemed to meld together. Another part I loved was when the drum kit was introduced in the later part of the remix as it had such a groove to it which made me want to get moving. The parts that I personally would want to see tweaked would be the first half of the piece. The reason being it was almost too faithful to the source tune as it really only changed instruments but most of the notes of each section remained the same from it seemed like to me. Also as a personal opinion, I wasn't really a fan of the staccato notes in the first half as it seemed jarring, but that might just be me. I was lukewarm about the first part because of the contrast of how the second part was just so good that I wanted more of that. It seemed real with an passionate fire behind it unlike the first half. I love the remix as a whole, and can't wait for more.

Silverpool's remix was also a good remix. I really liked the instrumentation as it played off each other well and gave off an atmospheric tone. It felt like I was surrounded from all sides from instruments and was being overwhelmed which was pretty awesome. The comments of how I would improve this are two aspects of sticking to close to the source material and diminishing returns on repeats. There is nothing bad about being faithful to the source tune, but I feel like if you don't add anything else to it, a part of you and your expression of music seems to be lost or not there entirely. I don't know how much time silverpool had on this remix, but I felt like even though it sounds great, I didn't hear anything that came from silverpool directly which could be me for all I know. The second reason what I was talking about diminishing returns is that this remix repeats the source material several time, but there are apparent differences between them. So even if it sounds great, It tends to lose some of its magic the more it is repeated without changing something, or going in a different direction altogether. It is a wonderful remix and there is a lot to improve upon a great foundation. Thanks for letting me listen.
