FL Studio - Suddenly stopped playing in mixer

Recommended Posts

SOLVED

Hello everyone. I'm brand new to FL studio and new to this forum, and searched a lot for the answer but can't seem to find it.

I tried switching drivers but that didn't make a difference. For some reason, the tracks stopped playing and aren't showing up in the mixer as well. They were playing, then just suddenly stopped. Also, I accidentally tied track 1 and 2 together and don't know how to undo that (that was done after the audio stopped playing.

It plays in the arrangement, and moves in the piano roll. But no audio to be heard, and none to be seen in the mixer. Please help

PS.... Yes I know I spelled Cymbols wrong lolnosound.jpg

Try going to Tools and selecting 'Dump score log to selected pattern.'

If you played notes on your keyboard, it saves what you played and you can dump the notes to the pattern.

If you recorded....Not sure how to help you on that.

Hope this helps.

Also try copying your tracks to different ones and see if that works.

(drag another Snare to the 4 channel thing to create a new one, and copy your notes to the new channel.)

Also make sure nothing is muted.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me!

I mean this to be a legit question and not patronizing or derogative in any way, but when you use the present tense... do you still have the program on at the moment? Like, does it still do that after you quit the program and reboot it back up, or is that instance of FL Studio still up and on your computer?

Yes actually I left this on my screen still open as I type this so that I can work on it to get help. But it's happened multiple times even after restarting it

Thank you but none of that helped. It's actually just in a piano roll using the mouse from Shreddage Drums.

Wait, i think I know the problem!

Did you just drag your vsts into the channels? (replaced Snare with whatever you replaced it with)

Copy each track, drop a random plugin into the channel rack, paste the notes into that channel and see if that works

Wait version do you have?

This is version 12.4 (yes I haven't upgraded to 20 yet)

EDIT: I tried messing around with the arrangement thing for basically the first time -  I have no idea what I'm even doing, so maybe this is out of my league....

I don't have the version you have, but I've had FL Studio do this or something similar to this to me a few times in the past. It's either been a conflict with the VST itself (just something in the program, computer and VST all combined together causes it) or FL Studio being buggy. The option for the latter is just to restart FL Studio and try again, the former requires isolating that it's the VST or something more pinpoint (samples chosen, some option flipped on, etc.) to see what's causing it.

Sometimes programs, operating systems, computer components and so on come into a weird conflict and just don't work. This laptop I'm on right now has a weird problem where if I'm cutting videos with Windows Movie Maker, if there's a video with a certain codec in it (and I haven't been able to determine which one), even if it allows me to import it in, cut it and start saving it, it will completely restart the computer RIGHT as it finishes. Sometimes I get a complete video after restarting, sometimes I just get a giant .tmp file. I've never had this happen anywhere else and the only thing to say about it is "well, these things just don't like each other."

Keep testing it and retesting it to see if you can isolate the variables that cause it, and then you'll be able to Google it from there or take it to Image Line's support team.

Well not exactly. Here are some more details.

So with the file in my screenshot, if I add anything new to it and play the song, there is nothing and it doesn't show up in the mixer either.
Also, if I restart FL studio, that doesn't help.
Whats weird is that it starts to play, then after 20 repeats or so (different each time) it just suddenly stops sending to the mixer and no audio is heard. And it does it onepattern at a time with about 1 second between each one going silent.

If I start a whole new project, it will play, then does it all over again with the problem. Regardless of what plugin I use. It's very odd.
I'm running a very powerful PC. 5 monitors, 20TB of space, 32 gigs of ram, and i7 processor. So it shouldn't be the computers hardware causing this.

Also, how do I unlink those 2 channels once it's done? Thats something else driving me batty to resolve (the volume as shown in the pic)

Many thanks to everyone trying to help I appreciate your time

HALF SOLVED

So I double clicked on the track to bring it up in Kontakt and it said that the demo stopped and to activate. It's the paid version though. So I cleared it out of kontact and reloaded and it worked. Problem is all the effects I tied to it were gone. I'll be letting she people that made Shreddage know about that.

Now the problem still is there that once I link the volume between 2 tracks like in the pic, I can't unlink them. Any thoughts on that?

In principle, I don't really agree with that. That's a disgusting level of computer-tech porn that probably wouldn't be standard for another 15 years at least. It makes me think of Serial Experiments Lain's flooded bedroom, or a guy so loaded up steroids that he's about to explode. The bigger and more stuff you have attached to it, the more complications it has room to accrue and still create issues like this - or such is my experience.

Good you figured out the issue but whooooooooooooooa holy shit dude damn. :shock:8-O8-O

As for the Shreddage thing - maybe that could've been an issue in the registry? I've heard that's where Kontakt keeps its data on whether your product is locked in demo mode or unlocked in paid mode. I can't offer much help other than a possible clue there. I've not heard of Shreddage or any other Kontakt instrument having an issue like that before, but then again I haven't used an Impact Soundworks instrument since March and am on a personal boycott of that brand of Kontakt libraries, so I likely wouldn't run into that issue myself to get to know more about it either.
