This was one of the first songs I downloaded from OCR, and I still listen to it daily. Too bad it was the only song that came out choppy on my OCR faves mix disc :x

The light nature of it perfectly recaptures the delicate aura of the overall feeling of Ys. I'm a sucker for nostalgia, and this makes me bittersweet because I love Ys, but can no longer play it. My Duo is dying! Since this song may be all I have to hold onto, for the moment, I treasure it more and more with each listen, and bless you, Mr. Redifer.

The mix starts out very inspired with some very nice plucked strings, but once they fade, things get a little more mundane. It's still a relaxing mix, and it's difficult to mix something that Falcom has remixed itself so many times, but the delayed piano keeps things looking up, and the sweet sounding chimes are a great touch.

Y's has some great music and are some damn fun games, now onto the mix.

I def like the chill feel of this one. The composition is still driving and has some pace, but the soundscape still provides for a very relaxing mix to listen to. I'm surprised this is all the way back 00' as it still sounds really good today. It's testament to the production values on this.

Love the opening. I wish that bubbliness had stayed throughout the rest of the song. The pizz strings were wonderfully done, definatly a resource that should have been used more.

I'm pretty much quoting OA, but once the intro faded, things start to get a little forgetable. It's a nice melody, and nicely done, but the rest of the song doesn't stick out like the intro does.

Definately a keeper for me, overall, nice work.

This is simply gorgeous. I'd stack this up against any of the professionally redone versions (the non-orchestral ones anyway), that's how much I like it. Maybe the intro is the best part, which reminds me more of FF7's Buried In The Snow than Ys' Feena (or it's just a truly creative take on Feena!), but the changes in instrumentation and pacing keep things more, not less, interesting throughout. Plus with the changeups, Mr Redifer manages to cover the entire source tune. My only stumbling block in the arrangement is that at 1:42 I keep expecting this to break into Xenogears' Omen, but that's my own problem :P.

My only real complaint is that I wish this remix didn't end with a held synth note, since it closes the track with an ominous feeling; but this is a minor thing. Beautiful song; thoroughly enjoyable.

The intro was killer. The rest of it really was quite meh to me. Maybe I need to play this game to "get it" but I just wasn't feeling this track.

Ok, so this mix is old. 2003 old. The sounds are definitely dated, I can forgive them. If I look at this mix from that angle, I can forgive a lot of things. Hell I still listen to SNES music, so no big deal. It's got some catchy sections, and if I knew the source I would probably like it a bit more. Still quite listenable, and that intro alone is worth the price of admission.

A contemplative serenity surrounds this mix thanks in large part to its choral pads and its transitions. Extra notes are lovingly dropped in places where the source stagnates in order to raise our spirits, prepare us for a busy section, or just feel more complete. The thrice-appearing "down the scale" section is compatible with either a lead-in or a lead-out; at 2:05 it's bridged by the rise and fall of the bell lead, and at 0:29 it flows like a stream into the source beginning. I even admire how the tail end of the source is brought to the front, without a lead but harboring glowing drums and pizzicato, to contrast with the bell-led iterations and illustrate the mix's growth.

Makes me happy and makes the Ys goddess proud.

I loves me some Ys music. Particularly Feena's theme, one of my favorites from the first. <3

I can't really say anything that others haven't already said. The beginning is fabu. I love it. After that, it gets more safe and straight forward. That's not terrible or anything, but it would have been nice to at least have a hook at the end since the beginning had one. Throughout a lot of this song, the strings in the background didn't really feel like background to me. They were kinda loud and prominent, so they really took away from the main melody. And even though it's a short song, it has the feel of being a little repetitive in a spot or two. Not too much, but it's there.

Then it ends. Just like that. :\

In spite of my complaints, it still works overall. It's a pleasant little arrangement of an iconic Ys theme that deserves at least a chance.

The melody is pretty nice in this mix, and while dated, I can see where the mix was going in it's writing up until the end, where it kinda just fades off when it seemed like it could have gone on or ended on a different note. Still, age and nitpicking aside, this is a fine mix with some positives for Ys fans to enjoy.

I get a SNES remake feel out of this, comparing to the PC-88 original (haven't listened to the NES version). In the source, I absolutely adore the moody and sparse b-section, though it wouldn't shine without the gentle intro and twinkly arp part surrounding it. So, my favourite part here is the b-section as well, and the bell/vibes treatment is a really cool approach. OC Jazz Collective should tackle some Ys I think! :-)
