Hello,

I have decided on "Magypsy Party" from Mother 3. Fast or slow, we have a saxophone solo, and those characters are probably the biggest reason we don't have Mother 3 outside of JP. Aside from the O2 Tanks. It's a pretty song with a lot of possible variations.
It works at many tempos with or with out the lead.
This could be a good base for the dual source challenge. Please use portamento if possible.

Hello again! TheVideoGamer here doing another entry.

For this one, i thought i'd go for something more obscure and a little unique. The game is  Summer Carnival 92 Recca and the track name is Jetter. Also known as the first half of Stage One.

This is a rare NES game, that has only more recently popped up, thanks to it's inclusion in the Virtual Console for download. Back then it was mainly a Japan only title, purposely made for a convention called Summer Carnival. (A competition for Video Game developers). There is also another game, made for the 1993 Summer Carnival released for the PC Engine, under the title of Nexzr.

The game is a bullet hell shooter, and while not a successful game, it did show a rather amazing amount of speed (And a Sh*t ton of enemies) for system that could barely do 30fps.

The music itself is also underrated. It followed in the 90's techno sound, so yes it's rather...er..repetitive, but i think it's unique in itself. I'm actually impressed with the sample quality to say this is NES, and even more impressed that there is 2-3 sounds playing simultaneously. I mean the repetition is actually good, because you can be a little creative with your mix. Honestly i think it's a little gem, but i suppose not everyone will probably get a knack out of it. I guess it's weather they can do it or what they make of it.

As usual i made a MIDI from scratch. This took me no time, especially considering it's a looping based track. You can access it on VGMusic here.

  • You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.
  • Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
  • Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.
  • The winner of this round may select the source for PRC389, the round after next round.
  • The winners of PRC383 and PRC384, TheVideoGamer and Dudley Ghost both can participate by remixing the source selected by the other or remixing both in one song. If they don't participate with a song (or submit a bonus song) they both have a vote which counts twice.
  • You can find the full rules list at this page as well. The Multiple Source Rounds Rules apply.

GOOD LUCK!

I made a thing using both sources that turned out better than expected. The Jetter source was a weird one to combine with Magypsy Party.

That's the thing in dual sources. Each person will probably have something different. I didn't know what Dudley_Ghost was going to pick., so that made the combination random.

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 2 songs and 1 bonus song by TheVideoGamer. The following people entered:

Bundeslang

PlanarianHugger

(if you want a different color, let me know by replying or sending me a PM).

Bundeslang and PlanarianHugger both get the 3 point bonus for using both sources.

To vote, do the following:

·       Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries.

·       Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM.

·       Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 2. Do not vote for TheVideoGamer.

·       State a reasoning for it.

·       Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, they get a free first place if they vote, so it doesn't matter for the results.

·       Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results. Especially since some people might vote by sending me a PM.

You have until THIS Monday, February 18th 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (17:00 UTC, 18:00 GMT) to vote.

If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this:

(To)

Bundeslang (if you follow the link you won’t have to add my name).

(Subject)

PRC ### Vote

(Message):

1: (remixer A )

2: (remixer B )

3: (remixer C )

(reasoning)

I will post the feedback given in the PM’s and the votes in this thread. The winner may choose the source tune for PRC387.

Check the ThaSauce Page to vote or click here to send a PM.

Results time

TheVideoGamer posted a bonus mix.

PlanarianHugger gets the last place wooden spoon with 10 points.

And the winner of PRC387 is Bundeslang with 12 points.

Bundeslang congratulations. Your first PRC win without winning the golden spoon (default win or tied win). You may pick the source for PRC389. This round will be a single source round. Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your sources as fast as you can, but within the next 5 seconds, so before Monday (18 February 2019), 11:21 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).

You may select any source from any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links (I recently updated this site):

What are some ways to improve my mixing as its the area I need to work on the most?

Often the most controversial topic, as there are so many ways to approach it. Even i get some things wrong, and end up with a poorly produced mix. If you really want some tips, i'd suggest you try this topic, as many people provide some great ideas. It might not work for you, but give it a shot, it could come in handy. Oh well, good luck. You really do have the potential to make great music. Again i'm no expert, and i get things wrong, but i'd thought i give my two cents.
