Just picked up a copy of Mario Party 8. I can't play it for another 5 hours though, cuz I've got a golf tee-off time very shortly. :cry: In any case, I've already arranged 3 friends to come over to test drive the hell out of it. A 100 turn game or something sounds to be in order... if there is one. lol, it better as hell still have immediate multi player available.

I have a gamefly so I'm hoping to get it by the end of the week. My fiancee is really excited to play this one, as am I. I think this might be one of the most original Mario Party games yet.

Malo Mart is by far the most awesome room in the entire game.

MMO isn't exactly what I was thinking, but we could at least ditch the whole "Hyrule revolves around a central field" thing, and have a different general progression than collect 3 items, get Master Sword. It'd be cool to actually journey somewhere, a la FFX, instead of just going back and forth over a smaller area. I'd even be up for a reimagining of Link, like he could be a soldier in the Hylian army, or something like that. Maybe instead of wearing the green garb the entire game, and knowing you're the hero, maybe you could have something else, and not get the tunic until right before the final boss. I'm just rambling.

FFX's linearity was the exact reason I so despised it. Please, please, please don't let that happen to Zelda - an overworld is a beautiful thing indeed.

Also, fortunately none of your straight-from-a-fanfic ideas will happen: Miyamoto knows better.

Some sad news to report on Strikers...if your opponent throws a hissy fit and disconnects because he's starting to lose, you don't get credited with a win. You get to keep your points from the game, but not the 10 points you gain from a victory.

Nintendo has to wise up and realize there are douchebags out there who can't play these games properly. If this is going to turn into another "I'm losing so I'll just disconnect" game it's not going to live very long...

Why not make a "non-competitive" mode where no wins or losses are counted?

EDIT: Yes Malo Mart is win.

Just played 5 hours with 3 other friends. Lots of fun. I find this one is better than any of the gamecube versions, not sure about them classics though. :P

I've only played the one game mode though (party). And to answer someones question, no you don't need nunchucks for party mode, but I'm pretty sure its required (or available) for one of the other game modes. There wasn't too much of a change in gameplay, aside from the majority of the mini-games being remote sensor related. The mini-games are all pretty kickass so far.

We played 2 maps, one pretty standard, the other with a REALLY cool design. Very original. The object of course is to get the most stars, but to get stars you must own hotels. There are 6 hotels around the map, and each one can be bought for as little as 1 coin. The next person however can outpay them and take possession and the star credit then belongs to them (both persons coins remain invested in the building under their names), and this continues. When a total investment from collective parties reaches 20 or 50 coins, the hotel increases to 2 and 3 star status... It gets pretty strategy based and is soooo much fun.

My only complaint is Bonus stars are no longer set! Which means even though I SMOKED everyone else in mini-games, and total coins, I got no bonus stars and LOST at the end because they're three randomized awards between (that i know of): most distance traveled, most red squares, most mini-games won, most items purchased, most items used and most coins.

lol, anyway, lots of fun so far. And likely a lot more to come for a while at least.

Link me a bad review and I'll let you know what I can agree with from it.

I still don't know anything about other game modes yet however. At least I can say its a great multi-player game, no question!

i enjoy a game that gives me blisters

lmao. I know a friend with a permanent scar on the palm of their hand from that. So intense.

There's one mini-game I KNOW you'd like though. You must jerk a pop can (wiimote) for 10 seconds as much as you can up and down then have it make the biggest explosion. The shorter quicker strokes work best. And having 4 guys all sitting on a chouch doing this at the same time violently, looks hilarious.

Forget hand-killing minigames... the original Mario Party was a controller-killer. My friends and I broke at least three joysticks back in the day... when they went limp you knew they'd been loved.

I just played a quick round of Mario Party 8 with my bro and it's kind of fun... the CPU had the cheapest luck, though, even on Easy. I'm thinking it'll be insanely awesome with four guys who are likely to punch each other for any minor victory. Can't wait to try that out.

Yeah, Tug of War was a bitch. Also, that rowing one in the liferaft.

And there was one other hand-killing minigame, but I forget what it was...

it was single player and you had to pedal a bike

it was hardcore

The whole idea behind the Zelda series is of exploration and having an open world. Sure, you can warp everywhere for convenience, but the game rewards you for walking or riding places by giving you heart pieces or bugs or other such things. So I'd have to say no to a more linear world.

I don't, however, mind the idea of a different progression of the storyline. I can always expect a slight plot twist after three dungeons and then get the Master Sword. Twilight Princess got knocked in a few reviews because of this.

So, basically, I wouldn't mind a few more twists and turns in the plot. I also wouldn't mind a little more mixing up of the missions - the escort mission and the saving of Colin in TP were on the right track, and I wouldn't be surprised to see group combat with larger numbers of enemies in a new Zelda game.

Speaking of combat, I loved the unlocking of new sword skills (the Stalfos teacher dude was just awesome) and I would like to see combat in Zelda expanded a bit more. Wind Waker introduced ideas that TP expanded on, and I'd like to see combat evolve a bit more.

Unfortunately, given Nintendo's ridiculous production cycles we probably won't see another Zelda game 'til the next console.

A different storyline progression in any future Zelda games would be nice. Same could be said about the temples. I sorta groaned when I realized that in TP, the first three temples, once again, were of the themes Forest, Mountain/Fire, and Water (in that order). And of course, the Master Sword after the first three temples.

I suppose it could be a case of "if it isn't broken, don't fix it," but that tends to lead to something becoming stale. Personally, I don't want that to happen to Zelda. I think it's good that they're going to go in a new direction with the games, whatever that may be.

That's all I'll say for now, since I try not to form any opinions of what should be in the next Zelda game until I've finished the current one. And unfortunately for me, I can no longer finish Twilight Princess right now unless I want to restart it from the beginning. You see, I inadvertently became the victim of the "cannon room bug" earlier today. I keep hearing that there's no way to fix it... I hope it isn't true, because I really don't want to restart my game after all the stuff I just got finished doing in it. Talk about bad luck.

The worst one for me and my friends wasn't even a mini-game. It was the club house where you wound up the flyguy to see how many seconds he'd fly. Intense and painful competitions. As well as broken controllers as someone else pointed out.
