NiGHTS and Reala (Nightmare Fuel Mix) - Feedback, please?

Hi,

So I've decided to finally have a proper go at the remixing and VGM thing, after some prompting from fellow band members and friends.
I've done a remix of "NiGHTS and Reala", which I'd love some objective feedback on from people who don't know me. Apologies if this isn't the place for it, but it seemed the most appropriate thread as I'm reaching out to the community.

I'm aware it's very similar to the source material, but that's because a) there's no comparison to the source material, and b) I just wanted to jam along with what I knew, to get started.
Otherwise, all and any criticism is welcome - thanks very much!

Well, you're in the right place for remix posting! I know just about nothing about NiGHTS, but I like this piece. It's got spunk, flows nicely, and has a strong inclination towards toe-tapping. Reminds me of the music of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, for some reason. Almost wish it were longer, sounds like excellent BGM for just about any high-speed activity. Nice work, high-five headed your way!

Thanks very much! I was anxious about the mix, but if it sounds good enough to get someone's feet moving, then I'm very happy with that. It's a different composer, but NiGHTS is from Sonic Team and even Yuji Naka, AKA Papa Sonic. If you ever get the chance, at least check out NiGHTS Into Dreams on PSN/ XBL, if you can. Journey of Dreams was OKAY.... but literally just okay.

Anyway, thanks again - onto the next one!

This actually sounds super awesome! I loved how rocking and energetic the track as a whole was and the breakdown at 1:00 was super smooth.

If I could make some suggestions, from 0:17 to 0:45 I noticed that the guitars drown out the main melody just a tad (it's a little hard to hear the horns and the synth that come in after that). I also think it might be cool if you made the stereo separation happen more frequently at 1:45. Instead of having it switch ears at each riff, you could have it kind of "waver" between the left and right stereo channels on the last note of each riff.

Other than that though this track rocks!  If SEGA ever made another All Stars Racing game I could totally see this being used for a NiGHTS Track.
