The People's Remix Competition 435
PRCv18-15

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

In PRC433 it was Studionimbus.org who was the winner. It was not easy and competition was strong. 7 Entries were submitted. Not one, but two sources are selected.

On 10/6/2021 at 9:28 PM, studionimbus said:

In the interest of getting my source to you as expeditiously as possible, I will go ahead and submit the two that I have in mind.

FFX was one of my all time favorite games to play when I was younger, and I loved the music even more! I believe that "Seymour Battle" and "Challenge" have a lot of great source material that can easily be blended into a great track, and are directly related as Seymour is battled in one form or another with both themes playing.

Like much of FFX's OST, both of these songs offer a great mix of orchestral, dance, electronic, and rock stylings, and I look forward to seeing how others will mix them together!

I've included both the original PS2 midi and sound fonts in order to provide the best reference material possible. Good luck, all!

The deadline is Wednesday November 10th 2021 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC435 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread.

You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.

It is enough to remix one of the sources. There's no bonus for mixing both sources, but it is encouraged.

Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.

Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.

The winner of this round may select the source for PRC437.

Studionimbus.org can enter with a bonus song and has a double vote.

You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

GOOD LUCK!

I didn't know you could pick 2? Both of these sources are pretty tight though, gonna see what magic i can bring to the table.

I saw some past PRCs that had two sources which is what gave me the idea, but it turns out those were a result of a tie! I thought these two could go well together which is why I submitted both. Of course, as mentioned by @Bundeslang, that’s not a requirement, but I’d highly recommend it!

Dang, this song is hoppin'! That rock organ tho. Makes me kinda wish I played past FF9 now. This'll be real fun to work with.

I highly recommend buying the remastered collection on PS4/5! It includes both Final Fantasy X and X-2. Final Fantasy X was the second FF game I played growing up (the first being FVIII), so I always get a good nostalgia high playing it. Also, the entire soundtrack is amazing. Uematsu is a legend!

Ok it's being weird, here's a dropbox link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/x5g16uypo1jhcy2/Final Fantasy Genesis.mp3?dl=0

The mp3 works fine, and sounds great. The compo was showing 9 minutes left when i first tried to upload, but yet when i did, it didn't come up on the actual page, and i get a deadline over/not begun message. Frustrating. Since this was made before closing time, i don't know if this is allowed as a real submission to be voted on. I hope it is, because i actually think it's deserving of a vote.

Strange error. I tried to upload the song myself, but the same problem appears with both Edge and Chrome. After that I tried to upload Souperion's entry but again nothing happens. I will extend with one day, hopefully it's fixed tomorrow.

If someone else has this problem. please post a download link in this thread.

Nevermind i got it to work. I think you extended the deadline by 12 hours, which was good for me to get it in. I've never encountered this problem before, but i'm glad i've gotten it in. Hopefully all my ramblings can be dismissed lol. It's all strange indeed.

I did the extension to get the song in myself which failed. Good to see it's there. I'll let the 12 hour extension stay, in 12 hours voting will start. I hope problems are fixed.

Thanks for all your help! This is obviously an unusual system error, than a late error. I might message the mods at the discord, should this problem continue.

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 3 songsThe following people compete against each other:

Souperion

Wassup Thunder

TheVideoGamer

To vote, do the following:

Visit https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC435 and listen to all the entries

Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM.

Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 3.

State a reasoning for it.

Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. They get a 3 point bonus, but they are not allowed to vote for their own track. They only have to fill in their top 2, leave the third box empty.

Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results.

You have until Monday November 15th 2021 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (11:00 UTC, 12:00 GMT) to vote.

If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this:

(To)

(Subject)

PRC ### Vote

(Message):

1: (remixer A )

2: (remixer B )

3: (remixer C )

(reasoning)

Interesting, i thought this was only as a result of a tie. I didn't know it was legally allowed. I might have to bring 2 sources in next time i win lol.

Got my vote in. If I'd known that we'd have a SNES and Genesis remix of this song, I woulda tried some 8bit stuff just for thematics.

I'd just mentioned that in my vote, and when i went to tell everyone, you had written about it lol, a strange coincidence.

If you'd had made a NES tune, the cycle would be complete lol.

Anyways, i've voted!

It's results time.

TheVideoGamer submitted a bonus song.

Wassup Thunder got 9 points and the last place wooden spoon.

Souperion scored 10 points and Second place.

And the winner of PRC435 is TheVideoGamer with 11 points.

TheVideoGamer you are the winner. It was very close, but the victory is yours. You may pick a source for PRC437. Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as fast as you can, but before next Wednesday (24 November 2021), 11:00 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).

You may select any source from any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links (I recently updated this site):

http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).
