The "My Very First Song" Thread

Before I get flamed, I did a little search to try and find to see if there was already a thread for this, but apparently there is not.

I think it would be nice if we all, dug around in our digital coffers, and shared our very first compositions (along with links to your favorite personal best mix or lastest mix) with the rest of the OCREMIX community so that newcomers and beginners can see your personal progress and how we can see how far your wonderful talents have developed, and also so you can satiate our undying curiosity to see what you used to sound like.

I personally want to see one of Zircon's and Darkesword's very first compositions to see what they had brewing up back in the days of Ramen Noodles, and Super Nintendos..

Anyways,

Anyone think this is a good idea?

Feel free to post up.

Edit:

Should this be moved to Community?

I'll show you the first original song I ever wrote, which was done entirely in FruityLoops using lots of presets and some bundled MIDI riffs. I did write some stuff myself, but I don't take credit for all of it.

My first remix, which was done using Magix Music Maker 7 deLuxe and LOTS of loops..

(Phantasy Star IV battle theme)

A few other early "gems";

http://www.zirconstudios.com/nightstalker.mp3

(Castlevania "Vampire Killer")

(Chrono Trigger "Magus")

(Phantasy Star IV air castle)

etc.

Haha, what the heck, I'm jealous.. I wish I had your talent, my first tunes sound like garbage compared to yours. Still as amazing as ever, I bet you beatboxing tight tunes before you were even born.

there was a thread like this, but it was years ago in a different section (wip?). anyway, when it comes to humble beginnings there's an old Kenyan proverb: Where there is no shame, there is no pride.

- The Flyin' Beat (1995)

Originally an .s3m tracker file, this is my first completed bit of music. Industrial bluesy synthrock? I think this is the only time I thought was cool to have a "drum solo" in a song.

- Mario Can't Sleep (2002)

First remix: Super Mario Bros. 2 ending. Instant rejection at OCR, but received some positive reviews at Vgmix I.

You'd think I would've gotten a lot better at music in 13 years...

Haha, omg.. Just watched your videos on youtube. I know someone that looks EXACTLY like you, haha.. I almost spit out some orange juice that I was drinking when I watched the video.

My first remix was a zelda song.

I had about 3 newbish compositions (not remixes) before I worked on this.

Made it in one long long night on FL demo.

This one was also in my folder. I am almost positive I don't remember making this and I am wondering how it got there.

This was when I got a keyboard. JOY!! Too bad I am in college now and I can't place it in front of the computer. Next term break, I am going to try to rearrange everything so I can fit my keyboard in front of the monitors and screens. Right now, it's only good for practicing piano, not for mixing with.

I am working on a dark world remix from the zelda game right now. It's pretty bad ass (I think lol). Has some power riffage on the guitar.

first computer song pretty much EVAR, made in modplug tracker using default GM bank...omg...

in case you can't read plain english, this is supposed to be a remix of the mario underground theme.

I'm really enjoying listening to these.

This is the first thing I could find. Lofi loop made in.... renoise? I think? I made vg midis long before messing with trackers, but regardless.

First remix. Submitted, failed, forgot it. Used adobe audition to direct record my fantom s88, of all things.

Bleaaaaah.

First song I ever wrote for a small ensemble:

One of the last songs I wrote before I started using FLStudio in earnest:

First remix I ever finished. It's of various Sonic boss themes:

In 6th grade I was watching "The Wonder Years" and unknowingly influenced by Joe Cocker's rendition of 'With a Little Help from my Friends' I wrote with my clarinet a flute piece that went something like this:

Dan's First Piece (Re-enactment)

That's not exact and the sheet music is lost to the ages, but that's essentially the first song I ever wrote down. Before that it'd been you know... humming and singing to myself on the playground.

This is a work in progress 14 years later:

Memories of Flame and Smoke

(Still writing for flute ;) )

This is a song my friends and I did back when we were like 13 and played in a band...it isn't the first song I ever wrote (though I didn't write much of this one, I was the drummer) but it's the first song we finished enough to the point of actually recording it properly. My drumming is pretty brutal, I sped up a lot towards the end...

Anyway, here it is.

And if you hear my more recent works, you should be humbled by how far I've come in just half a year :P

*smirk*

So I guess most of my earlier stuff got lost in the oblivion that is putfile, but my oldest still existing 'remix' is this cover of Blue Water, Blue Sky, done with off-beat guitars and Reason presets. I wonder why the hell it's rated a 4/5 :D
