This ReMix is REALLY strange . . . it's appropriately titled, at the very least. VERY hardcore, with a noisy drum loop, strange filtered basslines, weird ambient sound effects, odd manipulations, unexpected fades. It's a maniac, maniac, and it's dancing like it's never danced before . . . errr . . . yah. Well, you've been warned. I think it's pretty groovy myself, but it's definitely not for everyone. As a totally unrelated sidenote, every night I watch something in the background to keep me awake . . well, awake enough. Tonight it's the original Record of Lodoss War OVA series on dvd. If you're an anime fan, you're probably aware of the ass-kickage this series contains. If ya ain't, and u have ANY interest in D&D / Tolkein-esque stories, do check it out.

Yep, this is crazy and chaotic alright. While I normally don't mix wild mixed up ReMixes, I think the dissonance and difference in speeds of the various samples throws me off too much to enjoy this mix as much as I could. But it's not so overpowering that I couldn't listen to it at any point, and I think the last minute pulled together nicely. Not a favorite of mine, but still fairly decent.

This has quite a lot of strange things going on for it. Too much for me, honestly. I can barely bring myself to finish it. I can see why people might like it, but it sounds like a mess to me. Sorry.

Some of the samples are at a too high frequency for what you'd expect, like the beats. The mix is a bit too chaotic to me. Some of the drum loops sound very weird in that they're non-standard patterns that you might hear or expect, so it becomes a bit strange trying to follow things.

the drums and synths kind of remind me of Battletoads
like this mix a lot, actually. the meandering synth part around 2:40 was very cool as well. fun times.

The bass drum in the should require a license to use, it's that potent. Sounds awesome!
It sucks that this was chopped off for such a long time, after the previous cutoff point is where things started to get really interesting. I suppose when I say interesting, I mean completely nuts. This song has been seriously abused in the processing department, and it doesn't sound like anything else i've heard on the site. There is a lot of off-beat lines tempowise, but it is pretty clearly intentional with all of the other "controlled" chaos smacking song bits around.
Very creative, very chaotic, and while not quite dance able, it will make you think.

How did I miss the fact that Zeratul reuploaded this?I've had it since 2003.
This sounds wonderful
The full version was uploaded before OCR01500. There was never any announcement, I just noticed (while going through lockdown stuff) that the previous version had cut off and checked Benedikt's homepage to see if the mix was indeed only 2:16 long.

How fitting that I decide to make a comment wishing that he would have finished it some time later, considering it's been a favorite track of mine for quite some time, to find that the complete track is up now!
Friggin' awesome.

For the longest time, this mix was accidentally cut off. You didn't think Zeratul would just end the mix halfway, did you? Y'all should download the complete song now and enjoy.

Man... older songs had a different standard. It cuts off suddenly at the end and nobody pays it any attention.
Amazing song, 9/10... but I'm adding an ending...
Jerks...

The ending sounds like your mp3 export broke or something. Running out of space was my second guess.

Only question - why does it abruptly stop at 2:18?
Simple answer :
I had no space left on my harddrive....

I love it! Very cool, reminds you of the original but is very crazy throughout the whole piece. Only question - why does it abruptly stop at 2:18?

Maniac Mansion '[go w*ld]'
Zeratul gives us a short but dynamic version of the bizarre Maniac
Mansion track with a throbbing, abused, filtered, cut, modulated bass line.
interesting.
