Newcomer Czyszy (Marek Król) debuts with an upbeat rock take on colorful Konami shooter Detana!! TwinBee mixed with some Magical Drop III:
"Originally submitted to Dwelling of Duels. The guitar, bass, ukulele, and balalaika tracks are live."
It's not every day we get a mix with live balalaika; класс. Like the source material, this bubbles with energy & has a rather sunny disposition, but Marek expands the instrumentation & injects some additional oomph with his take, weaving the themes together into a unified & plucky whole. Gario writes:
"Not at all familiar with the sources, but when I listen to them, you do them justice! They blend together seamlessly, with an arrangement that tells its own story. The clapping in the beginning is a little odd (sounds like you were going for a "live" element, there), but it doesn't take from what you present overall. Excellent production and mastering compliment this, which really takes it over the top, for me. Great work!"
Fadeout ending is a *smidge* underwhelming, but the live performances, crisp production, and generally spirited & positive temperament more than make up for it. We don't see a ton of X68K/Neo-Geo or classic Konami SHMUP mixage these days, and it's worth mentioning that prozax covered Detana!! first back in 2014... just so I can write "BUTTS" with a big, bold link. Rock solid rock debut from Czyszy, whose name would be worth 8 million points in Scrabble if proper nouns were Kosher & who turns in an enjoyable, invigorating, Duel-tested TwinBee/Magical Drop debut!
