Something warm, mellow, & just a bit rainy for today, as newcomer Benjaipod (Benjamín Watkins) gives us a sweet acoustic/folk arrangement of "Song of Storms" that makes you want to curl up and read a book:
"Versión acústica de la canción "Song of Storms" de The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Con apariciones de otras canciones del juego. :B
Well, again, English is not my native language, so I hope I make myself clear. xD What can I say about this awesome game? The story, the music, the characters, everything... just simply amazing. I was lying in my bed playing my guitar, and suddenly I thought, "Hey, this sounds like 'Song of Storms'," so I went to my PS and started recording this acoustic version of this great, great song of this great, great game. This is kinda a sad tune, like a desperate cry to try to make it rain, really hard, maybe just to wash something away, whether feelings, pain, even the past. I'd really like to keep writing about this, but is kinda difficult because English is not my native language and I can't put together my ideas very well. xD Hope you like it!!"
Your English is much better than my anything-other-than-English, so don't worry :) Chimpazilla LOVES Ocarina of Time, too, so let's see what she thought:
"Wow that guitar sounds good. The accompanying guitar is just enough to add interest but not sound too busy. I would have preferred a little louder and more varied padding to fill out the soundscape, but what is here is lovely. The rain sfx are tastefully used and not overdone (as it quite often is on this source!) SoS does get a bit repetitive but you wove in the other two themes so subtly and added your own variation so it never gets stale. Really nice track, simple and elegant. It could stand to be mastered about 3db louder. OoT is one of MY favorite games, too. ;-)"
Emunator adds:
"Your guitar tone and overall cadence are very appropriate for the mood you’re aiming for, the deep bass notes carry a lot of emotional impact and the strings and rain sfx add some additional texture to complement your solo performance."
Certainly not a wild-and-crazy or altogether unexpected arrangement of this very popular source, but a heartfelt, direct, & emotive one nonetheless, with expressive performances & subtle details elevating the overall piece.

I agree on the volume and the pad, but the atmsophere is solid, especially with the bass notes. Nice mix.

Anyway, I also remember this one from the workshop. It's a very pretty arrangement with nice playing. I feel the guitars are a bit too bright but that's just nitpicking. Awesome job!
oh yeah. xD Haven't used preterite for maybe 4 years.

I remember that I saw this song in the forums. I like that the remix is straightforward, but has countermelodies like those at 0:41, 1:33, 1:38, 2:22, and 2:47. Very nice!

Really digging this remix. I love anything acoustic and anything zelda, so this is a great combo.
Having said that, I do kind of wish there were a version without the rain/thunder sfx which doesn't really fit well with my playlist of similar acoustic tracks.

That's some great relaxing and somehow bucolic song that I'll make sure to listen to next time it rains.
Keep up the good work cuz I Loved it

Que hermosa este cancion! Me encanta!
Minimalist, not a lot going on, but that's the way this sort of
arrangement should be. Sweet, emotive, longing, beautiful!
