Arranging the music of one song...
"Dreamer"
Primary Game: Streets of Rage 2 (Sega , 1992, GEN), music by Motohiro Kawashima, Yuzo KoshiroPosted 2019-07-24, evaluated by the judges panel
Pokérus Project (Patricio Thielemann) turns in a juggernaut with this classic/prog rock take on "Dreamer" from the Streets of Rage 2 soundtrack, channeling some seriously heavy vibes & a gritty jazz/funk vein:
"Yuzo Koshiro is a beast, holy crap! I really love this tune, and I wanted to make a much "slower but equally intense" version of this track for so long. I wanted to make this tune for a veeeeeeeeery long time, and I'm super happy of how this turned out. And for the first time ever, I won the Yuzo Koshiro Month from the monthly VG music competitions site DwellingofDuels.net. A milestone to me! <3 I hope you enjoy it a lot!"
Congratulations on the win; it was well-earned. This mix hits with impact, leaning on a slower, more deliberate rhythmic backbone to throw down some monster riffs (1'49"!!), syncopate a bit, and generally cause mayhem. Guitar solos? Check. Bass solos? Check. Searing organ lines? Yes, those as well. Not only is this a smart, well-conceptualized arrangement idea in slowing down the source & changing the emphasis, it's executed with confidence & style. Judges were unanimous; Sir_NutS adds:
"Sort of a classic rock approach here, I like it. The synth work is simple but it works. Loved the triplets section. Even though the track is a bit too long, the arrangement is interpretative and fun, so it kept me entertained for the most part. The performances are pretty good. This should go straight up to the front page, let's go."
This style works VERY well with this source, and Patricio works VERY well with this style, so it's a win-win. Awesome, creative, & substantive work; I dug every minute of the extended duration, and will definitely be coming back for more. Enjoy!

That guitar coming in around 1:50 was straight awesome! This remix oozes a lot of charisma and style. The run time is filled with razz, pizzazz and all that snazz! Great job on this! ?

Gotta admit.. I more than love the bass intro here! What a crunchy sound and what a greasy groove. Excellent work on the interpretation front - transformative but recognizable in an amazingly fun way!
