ReMix:Pokémon Gold Version "Slowpoke Paradise" 4:19

More Gold! When we used to drive down to Florida on family trips, and get stuck behind geezers going ten under the speed limit with their turning signals permanently engaged, well... THAT was slowpoke paradise. But so is this; Reuben Spiers writes:

Featuring Gamer of the Winds on flute, Chromatic Apparatus on cello, and me on the rest."

Mellow, comfortable acoustic jam with nice double-tracked guitar, lovely live flute & cello, accordion, and some relatively active (for the genre) drums, blending in some rock to the folk. Judges were unanimous, but did cite some common issues - Emunator writes:

"Simple, but effective! (I wrote this without reading Rexy's vote but realized afterward that she used the exact same verbiage to describe this track, so I'm leaving it! :))

This arrangement, although it doesn't blow me away with its technicality, serves up a very pleasant multi-instrumental jam that takes the chiptune source and adds a ton of layers of color and tone to really highlight the laid back vibe that was always present in the original. It does a fabulous job of setting the scene! The assists from Gamer of the Winds and Chromatic Apparatus are very expressive and add a level of emotional depth to the arrangement."

Good "relaxed" vibe for Autumn, I think; Wes & others did identify timing concerns/rigidity on drums/accordion, and I felt like the acoustic guitar was rushing and had a slightly different emphasis/groove than everything else, but it wasn't a huge deal. When a piece is intended to be laid-back, though, good to make sure each component gets the memo. Cello and flute performances are highlights; the former gets some descending modulations that make things a bit more harmonically interesting/challenging, but not overly so. Overall, a fine, breezy, & inviting folk/acoustic instrumental that would have fit in nicely on Hometown Heroes, for an aesthetic frame of reference. Enjoy!
