This is Gamer of the Winds' (Gregory Orosz) 20th credit on a featured OC ReMix, but his FIRST solo submission, and he truly lives up to his name, delivering interwoven, emotive wind performances on flute, piccolo, clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano saxophone, AND oboe. What's more, he played ALL of these instruments simultaneously, using an elaborate system of interlocking pipes & valves. Okay, sure... that's a lie... but aerophones, reeds, & double reeds are all in the house, which is supremely impressive, plus the arrangement - a mellow new age/acoustic take on Octopath Traveler's "Riverlands" - is sublime. He writes:

"Hello! Here is my first submission to OCR. I felt that there was a lot I could do with this track, so I hope I did it justice. I wanted to add a little more depth to the piano part, but also do a live remix that utilizes the piccolo's low register and also the flute's low register. I hope you all like it. :) Enjoy!"

As I listened, I wondered to myself, "What brand of ligature is that?!?" - and now I know. It's a Rovner Dark. I kid, but honestly it's cool to geek out about such details - guitar/synth players certainly do it all the time, so turnabout is long overdue. This mix sits in a pocket and basically stays there, exploring a natural/acoustic space complete with gurgling river FX, giving Gregory ample opportunity & backing for some intimate, intersecting wind parts, like a conversation of like minds, passing the mic... only the mic is a wind instrument... that keeps changing. Chimpazilla writes:

"This is beautiful and luscious! The mix starts out extremely conservative to source, but it transitions seamlessly into some beautiful originality while still being identifiable. I am loving the instrumentation here."

DragonAvenger adds:

"Yeah, this is gorgeous. Lovely tone on the flutes, and the supporting parts really add a lot of life. I'm not always a fan of sound effects in a mix, but the water flowing really worked out well here, and stayed just enough in the background that you almost forget about it until the end. Great work."

Agreed, on both counts. Check out the performance music video & subscribe/follow Gregory to see what he's up to - in addition to elevating the music of anyone & everyone he collaborates with, he's independently a force to be reckoned with, and I'm thrilled to be highlighting his first solo submission to OCR - hope to hear more!

This was exceptionally well done and played. I am not exactly a wind instrument expert but I could hear the musicality and passion behind their playing in this remix. Also this remix was pleasant to listen to, great job!
