ReMix:Golden Sun "Fire and Flames" 3:42

Time for some over-the-top metal w/ vocals, as Chernabogue (arrangement/lyrics), Furilas (bass), HeavenWraith (guitars), & Cyril the Wolf (vocals/lyrics) take on Golden Sun; Chernabogue (Alexandre Mourey) writes:

"This is a cover I started years ago for a Golden Sun project that was (unfortunately) abandoned. I liked the concept of that track so much I couldn't let this one go away unfinished. So after a long time, here it is! I wrote the lyrics and Cyril adapted them a little so they fit the song more naturally. Big thanks to all who contributed to create this epic track that should melt a few faces! Cheers!"

Of course, we were spoiled (and then some) last year when it came to Golden Sun, with the release of A World Reignited, but it's great to see more inspired arrangements of its OST. This is an intense one, with upper-octave vocals/screams (1'58"!!), chugs aplenty, and some soloing that will melt at least 175% of your face off, if not MORE, at the two minute marker. That's a lot of face. This track split the panel, as some judges weren't feeling the vocals, but the majority shared Sir_NutS's enthusiasm:

"This is pretty dope. The soloing is actually pretty insane here, with the adaptation to power metal being on point, and the original melodies translated perfectly to vocal lines. The guitar performances are excellent, and the vocals are great. There are some spotty places for the vocals but some mind-melting ones as well; highlights for me are the falsetto at 1:45 and the rise at 1:59, that's some Halford shit right there."

I think that's more or less right; there were indeed points where I was iffy on the vocals, too, but also places where everything clicked. When you factor in the overall strong energy/production and the phenomenal guitar solo (def. a highlight, some outright NASTY stuff!), it's a pretty fun ride, and we haven't posted a vocal metal mix in a while, if memory serves. Chimpazilla adds:

"Interesting track! The guitar work is excellent, and the organ is giving me some Deep Purple vibes, although I agree with Larry that the whole-note emphasis in the organ line is disappointing. The vocals are well performed and entertaining. Thanks to Rexy for the source breakdown. I don't disagree with many of the production crits others have mentioned, but I don't find anything dealbreaker-worthy in the production. Feels like a solid, enjoyable track to me. Let's get it posted!"

Right on! Kudos to Chernabogue, Furilas, HeavenWraith, & Cyril the Wolf on a crazy, brutal collab through fire & flames. When I think of fire, I often think of flames, so it makes sense. High energy track with some mesmerizing individual moments and an extended guitar solo that absolutely slays!
