Super-excited to have a double dose of debuts via this ReMix, one for a ReMixer and one for a series! As much love as we've had for Capcom fighting games around here, we've had zero from the Darkstalkers games. :-O That wrong finally gets righted with an intense, beat-driven, synth-laden Demitri debut from vampire savior Seveneyes! The ReMixer helped us fill a once-depressing gap in our community's coverage:

"This was made around Halloween but I just got around to uploading it. I heard there were no Darkstalkers ReMixes yet on OCR, so I figured I'd give it a shot. pixelseph recorded the guitar lick at the end for me, so big thanks to him for that! Cheers!"

I'm sure somewhere that Vampire superfan The Coop thanks you, and the idea of help from judge pixelseph to flavor the track's finish with his guitar flourish was well-founded! (FYI, both pixelseph and paradiddlesjosh are at your beck and call for great guitar and drums, if the project is right!) Beyond her panel colleague's killer cameo, judge Chimpazilla hit on numerous other supernatural highlights by Seveneyes:

"The piano and strings in the intro sound great! [...] The storm fx are a nice touch. The darkwave soundscape when it hits at 1:03 sounds terrific, and the transition into the new genre is surprisingly smooth. The sidechaining here is delicious, nice and strong. The slower-paced source material works nicely. The slowdown at 1:53 is unexpected and cool, and then wow we are into some heavy dark stuff that I am loving. [...] the writing is varied and fresh and super cool. Seph's solo, which is unsurprisingly excellent, slides in there so smoothly, I only wish there was more Seph throughout the arrangement but I'll take what's here! [...] Production is clean, master is on the loud side but not overcompressed. Awesome track!"

As Chimpa alluded to, after the intro, Seveneyes ratchets up the energy here in a way that'll get your blood pumping -- all the more relevant for this specific game, am I right? :-) Fellow judge Hemophiliac was hooked from the start and equally there for the ride with this Romanian ReMix:

"Love the piano/violin duo to open the track. The violin is fantastic sounding. Really sets the mood nicely as we get going into the main style at 1:03 with cyberpunk-esque synthwave in full swing. [...] 2:07 gives us the actual delivery of full sound now and it goes hard. The side-chaining is on point and big tom fills fit in perfectly with the style. Drum pattern change at 3:23 was excellent, and came at the perfect time [...]

A very slick blink and you'll miss it guitar cameo from Pixelseph right at the very end of the track. [...] The track evolves nicely with an awesome vibe, and plenty of changes in the writing to keep the interest going even though there isn't much in terms of synth variation."

Sure, there could be more synth variation, but to me that's a purposeful throwback sound, and, as you can readily hear, there's loads of variations going on with these textures to ensure nothing's truly wearing out its welcome and makes it plain why this easily sailed through the panel. Quite the Gothic glow-up, a cross-section of somber, club-ready, and rocked out segments that perfectly pay tribute to Hideki Okugawa's music from another key Capcom fighting franchise. Our judges couldn't help but vamp to this one, and so will you! /bows
