Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls - come one, come all, to the unveiling of Project X 2!! I normally would have posted several mixes today, but this particular submission is part of something a little larger that deserves a moment in the spotlight by itself. Project X is a joint project by Rok and Rawk to ReMix entire soundtracks of Mega Man games. Awhile back they gave us an excellent Mega Man 3 piece that was part of Projext X "1". Now, they are proud to unveil Project X 2, which covers all of Mega Man 2 (going backwards in the MM chronology) with style, panache, and a keen mixture of acoustic / electric guitars and electronica. Check out the Project X Official Site for more details and for more great tunes, and give the guys some direct feedback while you're there - I'm sure they'd appreciate it. They've been working long and hard on this project, and I think you'll agree just by listening to this single track, which starts off with a David Bowie-esque mellow "Space Oddity" feel then breaks out the jams, that their work has paid off. Though the ReMix certainly does rock out as of 1'13", I especially dig the more subtle intro, which combines pure electronic tones with panned acoustic strumming and the perfect wind effect. Some of the drum trickery in the 'Mr. Hyde' half of the mix is quite the shit, though. Best check it out for yourself, then cruise over to their site for further investigation. Highly recommended, and quite satisfying to see a dedicated team work on something with evident talent and persistence and stick it out to reach an enjoyable and impressive conclusion.

The intro reminds me of Wonderboy by Tenacious D.
Pretty cool acoustic chip-ish combo.
The wind effect is really cool. AND THEN IT KIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCKKKSSS IN!!!!
I like the way it tackled that transition. It certainly left me hanging. (but then satisfied my desires. though I wish it looped one more time before ending on me)

Admittedly, when it was just acoustic guitar and synth, I was thinking how cooler it would be if we had a strictly acoustic guitar arrangement of the Mega Man 2 intro, but then about 1:10 into the mix happened.
Completely rocking, yo.
Simple, short, and really sweet. Completely perfect intro for its album.

Opening is fairly straightforward to the source, but when the main theme comes in is where things really open in. I like where the synth gets its own time to shine and also collabs together with the other sounds.
Super short, definitely meant as just an introduction, but it packs it's own punch.

Pretty solid old-school material. Loved the sound choices for the introduction. Once things picked up, the track was on the empty side due to the drums not filling out the back by themselves, but the overall execution was pretty solid. A little dated, but it still holds up pretty well.

Too short and some of the high end seems muted, but it's a solid mix with some nice and crisp guitar playing. The drums didn't sound realistic, but once the glitches started, I realized they weren't supposed too. Very nice stylistic choice.
For as short as it is, it packs a lot of punch; check this one out.

I loved it. I don't care how short it is, the way they mixed their guitars with that lead sounds so... so.... Damn, I can't even describe it. Its just a great track! I think out of 10, its a positive 7.

It was WAY TOO SHORT.But there is always "Repeat" to fix that.
The change from a touching arrangement into a headbanging rockplay was excellent. Nice drums also, but then...it stopped. It IS way to short, both I and MMNR has jumped to that conclusion.
But it kicks ass, so why bother complain, when, as MMNR said, we have the repeat button.
The walkover to the rock part was a little weird, sounded like I was teleported into a spacesjip that currently is 10 feet above ground.

This is freakin' sweet!
The synths were very good.
At first I downloaded this for nothing but the second half, when this switches to the electric guitar.
But I soon came to love the whole thing.
Only one complaint....
It was WAY TOO SHORT.
But there is always "Repeat" to fix that.

This is fantastic!
The interplay between the techno instrument and the rippin' guitar is superb. From Mellow start to shredded finish, this is tip-top material, absolutely perfect.

Now, normally, I like to post really in-depth reviews about things...
...But all I can say is, this rocks so much that I registered on the board just to show how much I like it!
It's proper bo. Which it was longer though.
Oh well, can't have everything.

Project X2 Titlescreen is a solid remix. The prologue music has a somewhat-expected techno beat (with a hint of acoustic guitar). Then about a minute in, it gives you that "what's gonna happen next?!" feeling. Then the title screen music blasts in electric guitar.
I GIVES IT 5 STARS *****

WOW! The guitar is AWESOME, I wish the remix was longer though! Beautiful intro... *tears of joy*

The acoustic guitar MAKES this mix. Download. It tastes like cinnamon rolls. With lots of icing.
