Ya know that whole La Bouche thing, with the heavy, snappy synth bass and kickin' high hat? "Be My Lover" ? "Tonight is the Night"? You're either into or you're not; personally, I think it's pretty fun, and works well in this little adaptation of one of Link's little Ocarina ditties. I especially like the opening and closing pitch bends. I would have absolutely loved a pad of some sort here, or maybe some ambient chirping crickets, but I think it works like it is too. All of the sounds used are good and clear, and for 96Kbps, the audio quality is pretty dern good. I've heard Windows Media 8 yields cd-quality at 64kbps though . . . we'll see. Anyways, enjoy.

Oooooh, eh, wow. This one got me giggling from how hilariously offbeat the whole thing was comparing the musical foreground and background along the shrill samples that made up the main melody. I will give it props for at least having a key change at the ending, but there is not enough in either production (obviously taking age into account) or arrangement for me to say that I'd have this for my cup of tea.

Bahahahahaha. It's got everything working against it, and yet... I gotta admit, I don't hate it.
I give it some credit. It made an attempt at working out an arrangement. And that would been a decent succes, if it wasn't so goddamned hilariously out of tune. The lack of harmony in this is beyond what I thought was possible in the OCR database. The SNES-era samples are far, far too shrill, and to go up a key was a disasterous move. The playing with pitch was a nice small addition, but it doesn't do much to save the mix.
I can't deny, however, that I did bop along to this. It's a celebration of trashiness, of which I stand by diligently. Just don't let standards ever drop to these levels ever again. EVAR!

I freaking LOVE this remix! I love old club songs from the 90's so this song really hits me good, thanks for making this!

I wanted to like it, because I like the original song. The issue is that this IS the original song. It has a beat in the back to remind you it's a remix, but it's not a very strong beat. The key change near the end just doesn't strike me as a big enough change to change my mind.
I won't be downloading it but I can see why it's on the site. 2000? I didn't even show up until 2 years after. Years change and with it, quality.

Seeing some of these reviews has sortof scared me into not wanting to hear this one... but here goes..
...
..
yes, this is pretty bad.

This is a really fun remix! The pitch bend at 0:29 was really cool, and the font used for the melody sounds very clean and smooth.
...Wait, then what? WHAT IS THAT??? THAT BASSLINE DOES NOT FOLLOW THE MELODY AT ALL???? WTF???
I'm sorry, but there's no way this remix should be on this site. It's a joke. The bassline is a standard techno I/IV/V progression, the "solo section" at 1:03 is just a random barrage of notes. They don't remain true to the original chord progression of the song or the completely random chord progression of the bassline.
ARGGG...That bassline just KILLS me, it's COMPLETELY non harmonic?!?!
I normally don't review remixes, but every time this remix comes up on my playlist I just get completely pissed off, I don't know why. The production value is clean, but nothing is done with the melody at all. There is nothing brought to the song at all, there is no imagination, there is no arrangement. There is never any harmony present, nothing interesting is done with the melody (except for that masterfully handled keychange).
Why is this on the site..?

Alright! Everyone is intitled to an opinion. And that one happens to be yours.
on 2005-08-16 17:51:24
I understand.
I still believe this mix is rather unimaginative and unengaging. I'm wise enough to realize other people's opinions and not dispute them...too much.

Of course it does. I understand him.
It didn't sound all scratched up and the real tune wasn't hidden under bells and whistles.
I am defidently a fan of the game and I don't like it when the origional is lost to trumpets and electric guitars. We still got to hear the origional before then the remix.
Do you understand now?

I meant that I didn't know what s/he meant by "nice and clean".
I'm not seeing it.
Maybe one can clarify or elaborate?
And for the record, I'm not argumentive. I'm debatable.
on 2005-08-16 17:21:12
Is there an arguement coming on? It was a good piece and he was being totally honest of how he felt.
It is true! It is clean and nice
