Arranging the music of one song...
"Hazuki Residence"

mutagene, contributor of many older amiga ReMixes, surprisingly submits this contemporary ReMix which combines elements of his mastery of ambient with more melodic bits. He writes "Bubbling paranoid laughter bubbling in ryo's subconscious every night as he goes to sleep. "And now it's time for comedy."" Pretty strange. While it fits Shenmue pretty well, at times, it sound like it would be PERFECT on the Blade Runner soundtrack, which featured a lot of vangelis's ambient and had people speaking Japanese and what not. The cool thing about all mutagene's ReMixes is that they are really transporting - after they're over, you really do feel like you've been somewhere else. Very slick, totally worth the download. Also our first Shenmue mix :)

This was a very bizarre track, as probably intended. Not sure if I’d want to listen to it again on its own, but I could see this track used to enhance a psychological or horror story of sorts.

The vocal samples used were good at filling up the soundscape, but other than that I found them a bit more distracting than anything else. That said, the overall feel of the piece is quite great, the instrumentation used was also quite good.
But there is a place reserved in hell for that 20 second fade outro. DOOOOOOOOM!!!!

Excellent, chill arrangement, one of the coolest, moodiest pieces amongst the oldest mixes. Definitely a fan.

With a name like Matsuri Madness, I was expecting a psychotic, hyper, and extremely loud mix. Imagine my surprise to find that the 'madness' was instead in the form of a slow and calm delusion.. The steady and laxidaisical drum in the background supported by the original tune. The oddly echoing voice samples as they drift in and out of the conciousness of the song, the slow build into each new sample... all these things draw you into the overall remix itself. Sit down and relax. Close your eyes and listen to the beat and the voices... You can slowly feel the delusion take over... feel yourself being pulled into the world of Shenmue...

Shenmue 'Matsuri Madness'
It's no secret that the monkey machine loves everything mutagene does.
grainy synth and dubby wonderfulness just make the monkey machine
glow like a burning out dynamo at full speed. this remix is no exception,
swirling words and a nice ethnic instrumentational array bouce off the
empty spaces in my head and make me smile like a mad man.
