Brief and daring if somewhat experimental jazz from JAXX. JAXX. JAZZ. Whoa. Anyway, this SoR2 ReMix is upbeat with a "real" guitar solo playing on top of sequenced piano, upright bass, and an interesting choice of a more electronic drum line that does do some fills at points. I think what will stand out to most people are the disonant, asynchronous chords used at points. But, given the title, this is probably appropriate. For more on the effects of alcohol on jazz and vice versa, also see my own recently released SMW mix. This is pretty cool, and very intriguing from several perspectives - which is something that short BGM tracks usually don't accomplish. Compelling stuff.

A nice little jazzy pieces that conjures images less of bar hopping than perhaps sitting in a crowded lounge, chatting it up or dancing over a drink or two.

Unfortunately I don't know the music of Streets of Rage 2 much (or the series' music for that matter), but the piano stuck out as an interesting touch.
As others have said, this song is too short though . I guess it was intended more as background music than as an extensive rearrangement.

just to comment on Liontamer's 3 year old comment, haha.... midi-ripness eh? funny choice in words. I actually sequenced all the midi to show the difference from my streets of rage 2 soundfont I made to the original, you couldn't tell the difference. I changed the soundfonts and put guitar on, So I used the sequence I did to make this cover arrangement, which is why it's so close to the original. I recently found out it was being used as a bgm track for the streets of rage remake game, so even though the track would probably get rejected these days it seemed to work well as actual repetitious game music, which I'm glad.

Nice, smooth jazz.
I definitely agree with what has been said about it being too short and being perfect background music.
Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like jazz.
Very atmospheric. Entirely too short. Like this review.

This works great as an ambient/background track--I mean that in a good way. The jazzy-sounding guitar and piano are really well done, in particular. I don't think the short length is that much a down-side; if it were any longer then it'd just end up sounding repetitive. KF

Way too short for anything to really happen, but the guitar tone was nice.

nice mix! short and sweet, and very much like the original.
the guitar performance, like liontamer mentioned, is what really makes it nice.

Rather disappointing due to the length, as it's merely 2 loops of the source and it's over before it starts.
Yeah, a very cool piece if you just want a conservative playthrough of the original material. When it comes to SoR2's music, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Only thing that saves it from it's near-complete MIDI-ripness is Pat's guitar performance of the melody. If you set that aside, it's brief and enjoyable for what it is.

This is short, sweet and very catchy. Kind of reminds me of a night out walking along a street full of trendy bars and bright neon lights i like jazz and as this goes its not a bad li'l mix. Good stuff!

Streets of Rage 2 'Bar Hopping'
This is a nice jazzy little piece by jaxx. Very energetic and a piece I’d probably appreciate even more if I was drunk after hitting several bars on the city mile. I’m not sure how jaxx produces his music, but this certainly sounds like live instruments. However it was done, he’s got some mad skill. Keep it coming, jaxx, my ears are open.
