Arranging the music of 2 songs...
"Dr. Wily Stage 1", "Flash Man Stage"

Cool. Actually, let me revise that: hella cool. This ReMix by first-time contributor Mattias Holmgren was requested by none other than his brother, and is actually a ReMix of a ReMix - Mattias has taken NoppZ' arrangement of the Wily and Flashman themes, Mega Man 2 'Wily Meets Flashman', and totally reconstructed it using rock drums and electric guitar, with quality synthage as well. Check out Mattias' website as well - dude plays guitar and piano, sings, uses Cubase and Sound Forge, writes C++ apps, uses 3d studio Max and Photoshop, and does respectable web design as well - mad props to the renaissance man, indeed. This is high-adrenaline rock, with chuggin' guitars, screamin' leads, slammin' drums, and many more descriptive verb-instrument combinations that I could annoyingly use an apsotrophe to sub for a 'g' in. Don't hesitate for a second - quality is superb, and while the arrangement stems from NoppZ' capable work, the piece has transmogrified into something more kin to the rock phylum in the genus "kickass" (whereas NoppZ' was more techno-groove, genus "butt-shakin'". How's my taxonomy?) Mattias definitely blends electronic textures transparently into this guitar-based piece, something few pop bands could do (Trent Reznor admires 'The Cars' for this quality and I agree), and the transitions and technical aspects are spot-on. Apparently took him five hours, as the ID3 comment indicates - five hours well spent, I'd say. Kay, I'll shut up now - great, memorable stuff, and for a ReMix of a ReMix it reworks an enjoyable idea/arrangement into a different but equally enjoyable piece. Highly recommended.

Though the production isn't as pounding as it'd be if made recently, this is pretty amazing stuff; excellent solos throughout, and in 2002 this would have absolutely blown my mind. Even now it sounds really really good. Tracks like this are one of the reasons the bar is so high for rock remixes nowadays. Be sure to give this one a listen, you will not be disappointed.

Hey folks,
I just wanted to let you know I have some new game remixes available at my blogg.
Check them out at http://blogg.morningdewmedia.com
Also be sure to check out the game LEGIO which will be released Q2 2009 which features my orchestral music. The game was published by Paradox interactive.
Enjoy!

Everyone’s favorite source from Mega Man 2 is definitely a main part of this mix. Not much in a change from the source, aside from a couple original sections. More of that would have been nice.
My biggest problem with the mix overall is that the two themes are placed side by side. There might as well have been two separate mixes, rather than one after the other. The harmony in the high line that compares to the ‘flute’ that starts the Flashman theme is my favorite part of the mix overall (3:07 or so). Too bad it only lasts about four seconds.
Sounds are not great, but overall I don’t mind them. More an age thing than anything else, so I won’t fault. Percussion overall is pretty complimentary, and doesn’t get repetitive.
Overall, it doesn’t stand out as the best mix of either theme, and honestly could have been two separate mixes, but it’s worth a listen.

GREAT remix. Absolutely turns Nopp's into something listenable. There needs to be more rock-centric remixes akin to this.

SWEET BUTTERY DISHWASHER!
This remix is great! If Noppz´s remix was pure techno, then this is 100 percent full velocity guitarthrash. Is always nice to see that there are more swedes around here than you expect. Sadly, I have no more to say about this remix, the speed and rhytm talks on its own, but this remix is far from simple. Great remix dude.

SCREW SPITTING SOY LETTACE!!
An another one! After analyzing it, I found it very good, skilled guitarplay with a nice set of drums kicking up the adrenaline level to new hights. But I have big trouble figuring out the original song track. I think it´s the boss theme. Either way, awesome remixes, both of them.
Hoppas du gör fler remixer i framtiden!

I've never been one for heavy guitars, but this track makes me want to run out and save the world from Dr.Wily. When I first noticed the beggining of Flashman's stage in the guitar solo parts,I almost fell down and crapped my pants it was so fly.I would have never suspected Flashman would work in the heavy sence....with a flute.
totally awesome.

Lovin' the lead guitar, the drums and the subtle, yet kick-ass synths!!! This is one hell of a mix. This merge between Wily and FlashMan is pure genius! Keep rockin' dude!
*listens...again, and again*
...hopes to be as near awesome as he is...and AE too.

Hi folks,
This is Mattias Holmgren the composer/remixer writing.
I've been busy with alot of albums (Azure, Embracing) and my audio production company for the past months.
Due to the high pressure of people telling me they wanted more songs like the Mega Man 2 track I spent
a few hours yesterday and wrote this creazy song called "Fullblood".

Not many people have been able to make good rock remixes of tunes (which kinda sucks since rock is my favorite), but I'm glad someone took this great tune and made it even better. All remixes I have heard until this one just didn't really compare to the original. I like it and really want more rock remixes. Or metal. I love metal too.

I don't get it. What's with the channel change and switch back from 1:54 - 2:44?
Other than that, love it.
EDIT: Never mind my last comment. My version must've gotten screwed up in BitTorrent. Happened to another file I got as well.

This was the song that leaded me to OCR so as you can tell it has definly made an impression on me(otherwise I wouldn't have wrote this) This stuff is what I would like someone to release on an album I for one would buy it I'm sure that there's some members of this forum that would to.

This remix of Dr. Wily Stage one is really good! I like the guitar playing in in along with the combination of Flashman's board as well makes this a pretty good remix.

Rarely do I like a rock remix. This is a good one to be sure... I loved Wily Meets Flashman (One of my favorites), and Mattias Holgmgren does a good job at turning it into a rock remix... good job man
